LOGINMy eyes are literally bulging out at the scene in front of me.
The rude bitch at the front desk is hunched over the CEO desk as he thrusts into her from behind. My feet are glued to the floor, my mouth wide open, staring blankly at them.
I recognise the CEO instantly, he is the man from the other night, the one that left without a note or thank you.
His hair is tousled, tie laced loosely around his, the white shirt he is wearing is tucked out of his pants as he pounds into her not minding my presence.
The rude bitch smirks at me as the image burns into my brain. His head snaps towards me, and I get lost in his eyes.
It's not blue as I guessed it's green. Deep green like forest trees. A scowl appears on his face, pulling out, he snaps at me.
“Who the fuck are you?”
“Ummm… my–” my thoughts are jumbled up together as I try to make sense of what he says.
“I asked you a question.” his voice is chill, cold. He steps in front of me, towering over my head.
His smell hit me like waves dulling my senses, he smells like wood, cigarette and coconut. I can tell he is ripped from the way he moves, flexing his muscles.
I am measly five foot five while he stood over six foot ten or so. The aura around him is intimidating, commanding authority.
“I–I am your new secretary.” I squeak out, my fingers go into my mouth, biting them.
It's a bad habit of mine.
His face is neutral, no emotion passes through. He simply stared at me, trailing his eyes over my body.
A flick of disgust passes over his feature before his poker face returns.
His jaw tightens, hands clenched beside him as he spits out in anger “Get out.”
I don't need to be told twice, turning around I dash out with the speed of light. Slumping my little ass in my chair inside my office.
Breathing out in relief, my palm automatically starts slapping the side of my head mulling over my stupidity.
Why? why? Why did I go into his office huh?
I slam my head on my table repeatedly trying to knock some sense into my head.
I jump at the sudden ring of the office, slowly I reach out and take the call.
“Get in here.” The CEO's voice rings into my ear sending chills down my spine.
He doesn't wait for a response before hanging up. Oh my lord. I just started working here, and I am going to get fired all because of my nosiness.
Scrambling upon my seat, I rush out heading to his office which is next door.
The bitch comes out, a glare fixed on her face for me. I lower my head just to avoid her as I push the door to his office open.
My eyes automatically find his body. His chair is faced away from me, he turns in his seat staring out of the floor to ceiling window.
“Si–sir,” clearing my throat so I stop stuttering like an idiot, I open my mouth to speak again, this time my voice is more confident.
“Sir, you called for me.”
He twirls a pen within his fingers, still swaying from side to side but not turning to look at me. When he speaks his voice is detached, and cold.
“So you are the idiot who Reece hired,” he swirls his chair again, finally turning completely to stare at me
His eyes make me want to crawl into a hole, and die. Green eyes that look dark, dull and lifeless.
Only his eyes tell me how ruthless he is, his eyes displaying no emotions like a robot he just stares.
“Don't ever step in here without me calling for you. Now take these files, sort them out, and submit them by the end of today.” he barks, his frown more prominent than before.
How could he not remember me? My eyes drift to the files, and I almost faint.
There should be no less than fifty files there, I want to protest before he speaks again, “Get out or you will be fired for being useless.”
My heart breaks. Taking fast strides towards him, I gather the files that are almost heavier than I am, and stumble out of his office.
I drop the file with a heavy sigh leaving my lips, my body falling onto my chair like a sack of potatoes.
Immediately I start sorting the files as requested. After several hours a knock on my door has me raising my head to shout a come in.
A guy, and a girl walk in. The girl's hair catches my eye, it's light brown, her eyes hazel. She has a petite form. Her nose pointed, lips full, and pink with legs that could go on for days.
She is an epitome of beauty,so fine I can't help the next words that slips out of my mouth, “You are so beautiful.”
Her pale cheeks go pink as she ducks her hair shyly, muttering a quick thank you.
“ We heard of the new secretary so we came to invite you for lunch.” the guy says, stretching out his hand.
I shake his hand with a grateful smile, at least some are nice.
“That's so nice of you guys, thank you.” I appreciate smiling.
“I am Jack Tumbler, and this is–”
“Rose Jeffrey.” the petite girl, Rose, interrupts.
I smile, “I am Mia Neomi, lovely to meet you both. I would have to take a raincheck on that offer because Mr Antonio gave me tons of work to do.” I explained sadly.
“Mr Antonio is very strict, and mean. Stay out of his way, and try your best never to offend him.” Rose warns, her eyes darting around.
Tell me about it, the bastard is so hard on me. I am not the one who told him to have sex at work where he can be walked in on.
I thank them once again, waving them bye before they leave.
Once they are gone, I dive back into sorting the files ignoring my aching butt.
By the time I am done it's after eight already. My back, legs, arms everywhere aches, my fingers are numb from typing so much.
All I want to do is squeeze the life out of that stupid, egoistic, crazy maniac for making my day hell.
After sending the files to him, I head out. The whole place is empty when I leave.
The street is dark as I slowly walk to the bus top. I am so oblivious of my surroundings thinking only about the food I am yet to eat that my soul literally leaves me when an arm clasps over my mouth.
“Hey there, pretty little thing.” his other arm move, pressing my boobs hard.
I thrash around, trying to break free but the person is bigger, stronger. Left with no choice I bite his hand hard until he lets go with a hiss.
My feet move fast as I run screaming out, “Help!!!”.
My left foot tripped over the other, sending my body to the floor. Pain shots through me as I move back, tears burning my eyes.
He moves forward a smirk playing on his lips, “Gotcha.” then he lungs at me.
If my life was a regular movie, this would be the part where the music goes completely quiet right before the jumpscare.Instead, I was standing in a puddle of chamomile tea, staring at a broken ceramic mug, while my boyfriend looked like he was about to single-handedly dismantle a house with his bare hands. The absolute destruction of his office was terrifying enough, but the look on Reece’s face when he mentioned the east gate made my chest tighten so hard I forgot how to breathe. The east gate, Marcus. The big, grumbling guard who had literally just told me twenty minutes ago that he was looking out for me."What do you mean it's transmitting from the east gate?" I asked, my voice cracking as I took a step forward, completely ignoring the way a tiny piece of broken ceramic bit into the sole of my shoe. "Reece, what is going on? Marcus is out there."Giovanni didn't look at me. His eyes were completely black, fixated on the phone vibrating in his white-knuckled grip. "Reece. Take t
Two fucking names.Marco spat them out right before he passed out on me. I’ve been staring at this legal pad since four in the morning like the letters are going to magically rearrange themselves into something useful.Priya Desai, Six years clean record.Desmond Cole, Wife, kid on the way.Neither one screams traitor, and that pisses me off more than if one of them did. The good ones never do. That's the whole problem with loyalty the cracks stay hidden until the entire thing shatters right in your hands."You didn't sleep." Reece drops a coffee on my desk. Black, too much sugar, exactly the way I like it even when he's annoyed with me."I never sleep," I grunt, dragging the mug toward me anyway. "Pull the shift logs from the week before the cabin. I want to know who swapped with who and who signed off on it."He stays planted right where he is, arms crossed like he's got something stuck in his throat.I looked up, narrowing my eyes. "What.""You should tell her. What we're finding
I woke up sprawling sideways across the bed like a starfish that lost a fight, one leg hanging off the edge, drooling very possibly on the pillow. Classy. Real damsel-in-distress energy. The shirt I was wearing smells like him. Cedar and cigarettes and something warm underneath that I refuse to name because naming it makes it real, and real feelings about Giovanni Antonio are exactly the kind of disaster I don’t have time for on a Tuesday.I pulled myself out of bed, wincing at the dull throb still living in my bandaged feet, and shuffle to the window. The sun’s already high, which means I slept like the dead.Rosa finds me twenty minutes later attempting badly to braid my own hair in the hallway mirror.“Bella, you look like you fought a bird and lost,” she says, taking the strands out of my hands before I do permanent damage.“I did fight a bird. The bird was my own hair.” I sigh, letting her work. “Where’s Giovanni?”“Basement, then his office, then a phone call he did not want me
The city blurs past the window in smears of gold and grey, but my grip on her hand hasn’t loosened even once. That’s the part that really pisses me off. It’s not Scarlet showing her face where she isn't wanted, or Leonardo strolling into my building like he still owns the air inside it. It’s the fact that somewhere between the forest, the spa, and the backseat of this car, I stopped being able to keep my hands to myself.Weak. That’s exactly what my father would call it if he saw how tight my fingers are locked around hers right now.I didn’t let go."You're thinking loud again," Mia mutters. Her head resting against the glass, her eyes half-shut."I don't think loud.""You do. It's like a fucking generator humming right next to me." She yawns, stretching her legs out in the cramped space, her elbow barely missing the door handle. "What's the plan, Capo?"Capo. Coming from her, it sounds more like a tease than a title, and my chest does that same stupid, tightening thing again."The
The second I answered the phone Theresa’s voice nearly blew out my eardrum.“BITCH WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I texted you like seventeen times. I was about to file a missing persons report and then show up at that glass castle of yours with a baseball bat.”I laughed, the sound cracking a little. “I’m alive. Barely. Just had a very long morning with a walking corpse who happens to be Giovanni’s father.”There was a beat of silence, then she exploded. “His WHAT? Oh my god. Tell me everything. Right now, I’m free as hell anyway. Come over, I’m buying, No arguments.”I glanced at Giovanni. He was driving with that same tight jaw he’d had since the elevator. I covered the speaker. “I’m going to see Theresa for a bit. I need… normal.”He didn’t argue. Just gave a short nod and changed direction.Twenty minutes later I was sitting cross-legged on Theresa’s tiny couch, a half-empty bag of chips between us and two cheap bottles of wine already open. She looked tired in a way I hadn’t seen before.
“That doesn't still answer my question why you are trespassing in my property? Leonardo Antonio, My father, My Godfather. The man who taught me that love was a liability and mercy was a death sentence. He stood there in a charcoal suit that probably cost more than most people’s yearly salaries, hands clasped behind his back like he was inspecting a warehouse instead of the empire I’d built with blood and sleepless nights. His pale eyes flicked over Mia for half a second dismissive, cataloguing then settled on me with that familiar, icy amusement.“You shouldn’t be here,” I repeated, keeping my voice low enough that only he and the glass walls could hear the threat under it.He smiled, though the expression never reached his eyes, just like he always does. “I heard you had a little… adventure in the woods. Thought I’d check on my favourite disappointment in person.”Behind me, Mia went completely still. I didn’t look at her. Looking at her right now would give him something to use.
Her eyes falls droopily as she finally gives into sleep, the one that has been calling her since I lifted her up into my arms.I have never carried a girl in my arms before except her, my love, she was the only exception until Mia came into the picture. My head swam with thoughts as the events of t
What in the actual fuck name is this? My face scrunch up into a very thick scowl as I watch her vomit drip down my fifty thousand dollar suit.“Are you out of your god damned mind?” I grit, my jaw clenching hard as my left eye begins to twitch. This bitch always brings out the worst reaction in me.
“Whoaaa!!! Girl you made it!!” Stacy screams as soon as Jack and I arrive at the table where they usually stay.According to Jack they come here a lot so they have a specific table saved for them by the servers. The club is really lit, splashing the whole place with multi coloured lights, the table
I woke up with a pounding headache, my heart beating like I ran a marathon. Sleep wasn't as hard as I thought it would, the fear I felt logged so deep in my throat made me feel like I would not live past the night. Even though Mr Antonio was a big jerk he still let me stay over, and I am more tha
