CHAPTER 11- Princess

last update Last Updated: 2025-08-28 13:07:49

It was very early the next morning; the dawn wasn’t there yet, but Aurora didn’t feel like spending another minute in bed.

She had not been able to fall asleep; the idea that her mother might be in danger and was keeping her in the dark kept her awake all night.

She had spent a little time with Brynn, and from what she observed, he wasn’t one to inflict suffering on workers like her mother, but she couldn’t say the same about his wife and son.

After much tossing around, she decided to head to the mansion’s kitchen. She could order the servants, but she was one to get things done herself.

She got to the kitchen, the dim lights lighting her way there.

She checked the large cabinets and saw a variety of rare kinds of packaged chocolates, cookies, biscuits, and sweets.

She was awestruck at the cabinet of sweet wonder, opened in front of her, not wanting to overstep, she took a pack of what she felt was the least expensive chocolate chip cookies.

She closed the large door of the cabinet and jumped in fright when she saw a figure right behind the cabinet’s door.

It was Theodore, looking her dead in the eyes.

He had followed her to the kitchen, seemingly tracking her moves.

“Stealing again?” He asked, with a dead stare.

“I couldn’t sleep, so I came to get something to keep my mouth busy.” She answered, looking away, uninterested.

“On whose permission?”

“Your father’s.” She answered nonchalantly.

“Enjoy these little privileges while you still can,” He said, with an unchanged face, “It won’t last long.”

“Relax,” She rolled her eyes, “It’s just cookies.”

‘Wait a minute, why am I being nice?’ She thought to herself.

She was going to be leaving the mansion that morning anyway, so why be nice when all hell could break loose?

Her mother was the only answer she came up with.

Though her mother had told her that it was all right, she had a flicker of doubt and believed that there was something underneath.

She sighed, “I could drop it if you want.” She looked at him, pushing both lips in an uninterested manner.

“You know what?” He said, “Keep it. The least I could do for a hungry peasant like you is spare you a pack of cookies.” He glared at her and left.

Aurora opened her lips and used her tongue to rub against her teeth, as she tried to hold back the temptation of talking back.

“Calm down now, Aurora, in less than three hours, it will all be over.” She said to herself and walked out of the kitchen.

Somehow, Aurora couldn’t find her way back to her room; she missed her way.

But how was that possible? Didn’t she find her way to the kitchen from her room? Why then was it that she couldn’t find her way back?

She tried to retrace her steps but ended up in a room that had a single light on the table.

“Aurora?” A deep voice echoed through the room.

“Oh my gosh!” She screamed, “What was that? Who is there?” She asked, taking a fighting stance, with the pack of cookies still in her hand.

“You want to fight, but can’t let go of the pack of cookies?” The voice echoed out.

Her eyes looked at the pack of cookies in her hand, her head unmoved.

She quickly put the pack in her mouth, holding it with her teeth, and returned to her fighting stance.

“Show yourself.” She muffled out, as she couldn’t talk properly with the pack in her mouth.

The voice laughed out hard, “Still can’t let go of the cookies, I see.” A figure emerged from the darkness. It was Brynn. “Well, I hope you can share at least?”

Seeing who it was, she gradually comported herself, “Father?” She walked to him, “I’m sorry about that, I didn’t know it was you.”

“It’s alright,” Brynn said. “What are you doing here in my study room? Looking for something to read?”

She lifted the pack of cookies, “More like eat.” She dropped her hand, “I lost my way back to my room, how stupid could I be?”

Brynn’s lips twitched.

“You?”

“I came here to meditate.”

“Care if I join you?” Her brows lifted.

“Why not?” Brynn said, “Then you would have to share the cookies with me.”

“Not a problem.” She smiled.

“Come over here,” Brynn said, signaling for her to come to him, and she did.

He took her to the library in the study room.

The little light didn’t do justice to the room; she could see it clearly now.

“How is this a study room?” She asked, awed by the massiveness of the library.

The high-stacked books on the shelves looked like the Stairway to Heaven; there were ladders because obviously, no one was that tall.

The chandeliers hung beautifully in the center of the hall, and she couldn’t get enough of the historic paintings that decorated the walls elegantly.

“Where I come from, this study room can be used to organize a wedding.”

“Really?” Brynn asked, “Well, I hope to introduce you to where I come from during your time here.” He stared at the library.

“I have got plans for us, before your month’s stay runs out.” He added.

Aurora’s demeanor died down.

“Child,” He called, “Is everything okay?”

Aurora stayed quiet for a bit. Not wanting to raise suspicion, she faked a smile,

“I’m okay,” She said.

“You should know better than to lie to me,” He said calmly, “As my child, I demand you tell me. What bothers you, my princess?”

Aurora felt fatherly love and acceptance.

“I would be leaving the mansion this morning.” She said.

It became so quiet that a drop of pin could be heard.

“Why?” Came the cold question.

“My grandmother is quite elderly,” She said, and twisted her lips as she tried to cover up her lies. “And I can’t leave her for that long.”

Another moment of silence came upon them,

“Who threatened you?”

Aurora’s eyes widened, “N…no one, father.”

“I have stayed in this house longer than you, child,” He said, looking at her, “You can’t convince me otherwise of what I already know.”

Aurora bit her lips; she was caught before she even lied fully. Does this mean that her mother was going to be in trouble?

She panicked.

“Don’t be afraid, princess,” He said, “You have done nothing wrong.”

Aurora marveled at how he was on point about her worries.

She stared and wondered at the master of the house.

“Come with me, let me escort you to your room. A princess needs her beauty sleep.” He said, bringing out his elbow, and Aurora slowly interlocked her elbow with his, her eyes focused on him.

“And don’t beat yourself up, you are not leaving this house, Aurora, not unless you choose to.

“Apart from the master and my mum, I don’t talk with any other person in this house, and sometimes it’s boring.” She said. “I would so much appreciate it if you were free with me. What I need right now is a friend, or an uncle that I can talk to and share things with,” She dropped her head.“You acting all formal, isn’t cool with me.”“But the master…”“Isn’t here right now,” She said, “You can go back to being an order executing machine with the master around, but with me, be an uncle, or a friend. I would sincerely prefer both.”Luke’s brows furrowed. Since he had entered this mansion, no one had asked for his friendship until now. It made him feel wanted, aside from following the master’s orders. He loved his master, but he never dared to stray from his role as a Beta.“And besides,” She looked at Luke, “You were instructed to attend to my needs and do whatever I say. So I command you to be free with me.” She pointed a finger at him.Luke’s brows furrowed in confusion. He held back

“Oh, wait!” He said, “How about you start by demonstrating to me what you can actually do?”He immediately started to take all the glasses,“What are you doing?” Aurora asked, watching him.“Giving you a chance to show me what you are capable of.” He said, putting all the glasses at the top of the big cabinet, high and far away from Aurora’s reach.“You can’t do that,” She retorted, “I need to get milk.”“Oh, right,” He said, went to the refrigerator, took out all the gallons of milk and placed them high above, with the glasses.“There.” He said, dusting both hands together and folding his arms, “Your turn.”Aurora stepped back in defeat.‘This is not fair, I needed milk.’ She thought to herself.“I don’t need to get the milk to prove anything to you,” She said, “As a matter of fact, I never needed the milk anyway.”“Fine then, goodnight.” He said and turned to leave.“You’re just going to let the glasses and milk stay there?” She asked with her brows lifted.“Don’t worry about them,

Their cards were returned, and the guards carried their bags as they headed towards the shop's exit.“And you are right, the guards are boring,” She turned to the guards behind her, “No offense, people.” She nervously opened her teeth.“Trust me, they weren’t offended, they know it’s true,” Phil said.“You went on a tour around Mexico and the only thing you bought were cookies?” Brynn asked, looking at his phone, as they were in the jet, heading back home.“I was more into the sightseeing than the shopping aspect of the tour,” Aurora answered, “I hope you aren’t offended?”“Not at all, as long as it makes you happy,” Brynn said, “Hope you weren’t bored?”“At first I was,” She said, “But then I met a guy in a shop, his name is Phil. He says he knows you too well.”“Yes, his late father was a good friend of mine. He is a good kid. Did he bother you?”“Not at all, he was extremely fun throughout the tour.”“Good.”“Father?” She called.“Yes?”“What’s a pack?”Brynn paused in surprise, bu

Aurora was blown away by the different sights she’d seen. If this were a dream, she didn’t want to wake up. The master’s world is totally her dream world, and she was going to savor as much as she could.Aurora was passing by a shop, and she saw the shelves of sweets and biscuits from the outside through the see-through glass that the shop was built with. She thought that a little sweet treat wouldn’t hurt. She went inside, and the guards followed, with one of them holding the door for her. “Thank you,” she said as she stepped inside. The shop looked exquisite and luxurious, and the welcoming workers made her feel like a princess, ‘Brynn’s princess.’The workers were extremely nice to her; they were also professionally dressed, which was unusual for people who work in a shop where snacks and sweet treats are sold. When they asked her what she wanted to buy so that they could get it for her, she told them that she wasn’t sure and that she would check around. She checked the cookie shel

Aurora looked at the clouds through the windows of the jet, as they were several feet high in the sky.She was mesmerized. She had never flown before, and this dream had easily come true for her, just as Bianca had earlier said; she was lucky indeed.“Never been in the sky before, I guess,” Brynn asked, focusing on the iPad with him.His seat was opposite Aurora’s on the same side, while Luke’s seat was opposite Aurora’s on the other side.“No.” She replied.‘As a matter of fact, I never thought I would ever fly.’ She thought to herself.“Welcome to my world,” Brynn said, still looking at the iPad, “And prepare yourself for more of these to come.”Aurora beamed like a satisfied child. The journey was less than four hours, and the experience wasn’t boring, but blissful for Aurora. She talked and laughed with Brynn, she had hostesses serve her like a princess, smiling at her as though they were trying to please her, not to get on the master’s bad side. For a while, she had forgotten abo

Brynn’s household was on hold at dawn. He had ordered Luke to assemble every member and worker of the family in the mansion’s hall.Aurora didn’t know what was going on; she was with her mum in her room earlier, getting her belongings ready to leave the mansion, when a servant had asked that she and her mother join the rest in the mansion’s hall, “The master’s command,” they had been told. With no one left behind, the hall was packed full with workers, standing still, and familiar faces Aurora recognized as Brynn’s family: Theodore and Bianca, seated around a circular table.Brynn came in minutes later, accompanied by Luke. Both men looked stern, as though they were competing for who did it the most.“I am going to make this quick,” Brynn said, standing in front of the main chair of the table, looking at the workers in front of him.“Aurora dear,” He called, “Come to me.”Aurora, not sure of what was happening, slowly walked to Brynn.“Henceforth.” His voice echoed in the hall, reachi
