03. Something Odd!

Once their cars drove in through the huge black gate, Violet glanced through the tinted glass window of her rear seat and her jaws dropped in amazement, shock, surprise, what was it that she could give as a name to her present state? Her jaw and mouth were dropped in awe. ‘Is this a house?’ Her subconscious mind asked.

“Of course it is, young Mrs.” The driver replied and she looked at him. Did she just spill it out her thoughts? He understood her reactions and just smiled at her. “Don’t worry young Mrs, it’s not a big deal to think aloud.” He said and her cheeks turned red in shame.

The car had turned round a huge fountain to the main entrance where it stopped and the guards came and opened the rear seat for Ramon and Violet to come out. Once Ramon came out, he extended his hand towards Violet and she looked at his face, stunned by his behavior. The same man that didn’t look at her during the long car ride from her home town was acting all nice towards her all of a sudden.

“Even though it is just this one time, I bet he is trying to be a gentleman that he has never been.” She murmured and then took his hand. She came out of the car and the sight in front of her made her gasp a second time.

For real, the house before her was very huge. ‘Is this a house?’ No! It wasn’t just a house, it was a castle. She began to wonder if at all this her husband wasn’t some sort of a royal prince. ‘Well, if that is the case, then handsome Connor must be a prince too.’ Her thoughts had grown wild but she quickly regained her composure and looked at her surrounding with keen attention.

The huge compound had two open garden spaces. They were large enough to host over 600 guests per space, alongside tables and many others. The compound was very big enough that the family could hold any event of their choice just in the compound there.

‘Just how big is this house and just who the heck are these people actually? I can’t help but have doubts about Connor.’ She thought.

“Welcome to the family, Violet.” A voice greeted her warmly and she turned her head to see Ramon’s parents, standing by the door, smiling happily. Everyone in the house had come out to welcome the couple that had returned from the big day. All the maids were out alongside the guards, the chef and his cooks.

The whole Fridling family was out to welcome the newly married couple; Kimora stood holding Clara’s hand, Ramon’s parents who had arrived before the couple were standing in front happily. Who would have thought that they were going to be standing there to welcome them home? Worst still, the happiness on their faces was priceless. Violet sure had never seen such a happy couple before, she was used to seeing her mother smile and the mile fades away almost immediately. To her, her mom was the perfect actress and her dad was a sweet tyrant.

‘I can’t be thinking of those people when I am here.’ She thought and quickly shrugged the comparison between her parents and her parents-in-law.

She smiled as Ramon’s parents welcomed her with open arms, followed by Connor, Clara, Kimora and lastly, a woman who looked exactly like Ramon but she wasn’t smiling. She looked at the frowning lady for quite a while.

‘Why is she looking at me like this?’ Violet thought and took her eyes away from the lady. She had heard of ladies who always acted as intimidating towards the new comers in their family. This lady before her was no exception at all, in fact, she was even worst.

But this is Violet we are talking about, a lady boss and a wild fire. Does she really stand a chance against Violet? Violet’s smile answered it all, her presence in that house wasn’t welcomed, by someone who was trying to be annoying, right at the entrance.

‘There seem to be some people grieving over this whole marriage thing in this family.’ She thought.

“That is not how you welcome a new member of the family, Ella.” Her mother in law scolded but Ella hissed.

“Like I care about some wannabe member of the family! Was it supposed to be her, of all the other ladies?” Ella complained and shot one glance at Violet.

“Get ready for war, because your stay in this house will never be sweet.” She added and went inside the house.

Violet just smiled a little, accepting the challenge in her heart. She was waiting patiently, to see whose stay in that house was going to be unbearable.

“Don’t mind Ella. She just likes acting hostile towards the new members of the family.” Her mother in law told her and she nodded.

“Thanks a lot, aunt.” Ramon’s mom frowned at the words that she spoke.

“No Violet. You should call me mother or mom. We are your family now.” She told Violet who accepted almost immediately. For the first time in her life, she heard someone being so sincere to her.

All her life, she had known but pretense from the woman who gave birth to her. at one moment, she will smile with her and in the next moment, she will frown like she never was smiling before. To Violet, her mom won the price of best actress. So she had to be surprised because Ramon’s mom was nothing like her mom. His dad was just as his mom, open books to read, which made her have second thoughts o the actual reason why she came to the house of the Fridlings.

“Let’s go in. tomorrow isn’t far anymore. Breakfast will be an amazing welcoming one.” The father said and they all went inside, leading Violet to enter first.

The moment, she stepped in the house, she felt something odd. Like a strange presence in the house. She felt it, magical power, very intense, very strong. But the question was what person could bring out such immense power? Who was the odd person?

Ramon’s family all came out, the maids, the cook, guards and the butler too were all outside.

But Ella went inside the house, so it means she might be the one. “I_” The magic power sensation was gone, completely gone, like it was never before. “Now that is weird.” She mumbled too herself, determined to find out the source of the strange presence as soon as possible.
