CHAPTER SEVEN ‘A Blind’

“You need to be absolutely careful and work on your accent. Thankfully, the Star Clan people don't know much about the Lagsu people otherwise you would've been found out.” Poison said after closing the door to the huge hall assigned for the Saintess of Lagsu.

“And be more cautious, there's magic everywhere in Star Clan. Even the leader of Star Clan has the ability to see through spells like the one you have on.” Poison said while staring down at his feet.

“There's no chance for us here. What more? It's just me. I can't take down the Chief of Star clan.. I don't even know where he lives for goodness sake.”

Violet sighed, “Don't do anything, Poison. I—I'll tell you everything in seven days, just give me seven days and I'll tell you all you need to know.”

Poison scoffed, “Listen, this is not the time to make jokes.”

“I am not kidding with you. We're in a life and death situation and I don't wanna die, at least, not yet. Just believe me, this once. I promise I won't let you down”

Poison rolled his eyes, “Promise? Too bad I don't believe in—”

Violet stood on her tiptoes and leaned upwards to peck Poison on his lips before he could finish his negative words.

Poison was in turn.. speechless.

“Where I'm from, a deep promise with an outsider must be sealed with a kiss. Its a blessing and well.. a curse—” She cleared her throat, “Let's not talk about the curse part. I'll definitely fulfill my promise as long as you help me mask my real identity, all I need is just seven days.”

He was still in a daze.

“Poison?”

“Y.. y-your lips are bitter, D-don't do this again.” Poison backtracked to the door and ran out when his fingers grasped the doorknob.

Violet chuckled to herself, “What's wrong with him?”

“Chief Phalan and Lady Musa just arrived Star rock. Thankfully, Leader Avon made it on time to greet them.

“Good. Which hall did you give them?”

“Leader Avon let Chief Phalan share his residence while the Saintess was sent to the Lotus lake hall.”

The man clad in a white robe sighed thoughtfully, “He's guarding against them. Is there anything suspicious?”

“Their manner of poise and speaking is different. They act like they're not from the same culture.”

The man held the side of his white robe, his gray eyes boring into the younger man stormy blue eyes.

“Tell me the difference you noticed between the two of them.”

“One is arrogant and entitled while the other is alert and aware.. her poise and manner of speaking is polished and filled with wits. She knows exactly what she deserve.”

“Hmmm” The man stood in front of his room mirror thoughtfully, “She is different from the rumours if you're right about what you just said.”

“Master, what did the rumours say about her?”

“Naive to the power and authority her title holds. But with what you just said, I think that is not the case. I'll have to see for myself.”

Lance smiled.

“By the way, is Avon really intending to get his son engaged to the Saintess of Lagsu district, Lady Musa.”

Lance cleared his throat upon his master's question, “I think the engagement is meant for Kian not Alaric.”

His master blew up, “WHAT?!”

The door to the room where Leader Avon and Chief Phalan were happily drinking, bursted open.

Immediately, leader Avon began to laugh as though he had been expecting him.

“Chief June Malfoy, what brings you here at this time of the night? I'm afraid it's not appropriate to burst in like that especially when I'm entertaining your guest.” Leader Avon smiled, a hand fan in his left hand and a cup filled with wine on his right.

Chief Phalan who was dead drunk drooled on the table while laughing and mumbling gibberish at the same time.

“Who is the proposed marriage for?”

“Kian of course.”

Chief June Malfoy angrily marched towards Leader Avon, dragging him from his seat and holding him by the neck. “Don't do anything stupid, Avon. I dictate what happens to my son so mind your own business and worry about your own son!”

Leader Avon sighed, and shrugged Chief June's hand off his neck. “Wouldn't it be good to set Kian up with a beautiful woman now?” he consumed the rest of the alcohol in his small cup and tossed it aside,

“In future, it'll be difficult. After all, no woman would want to marry a blind.”

“Avon!” Chief June yelled.

“Don't have hope that Kian will be able to see again. Because he will never. Do you remember the time you used magic to forcefully open his eyes?!”

Chief June inhaled and closed his eyes, keeping his anger in check.

“That's right Chief June,” Just accept the engagement, “That way Kian will have someone reliable to help rule the clan in future.”

“No, that isn't right. It's been decades since we had women in Star rock—”

“—That is why, your son should marry. At least, he'll be remembered in history as a man who supported women in politics not a blind useless son of Chief June!”

“I will not accept the engagement no matter what you say.” With that, chief June stormed off angrily.

Leader Avon smiled, blowing the fan over his face elegantly, “Chief June you better think about this carefully.”
