Se connecterIn the middle of a small yet tidy room, Aurora lay fast asleep. Her pale skin, as well as her beautiful face, would immediately make one address her as Sleeping Beauty. It was ever so befitting of her because she actually answered the name of the fairytale character. The only odd thing in this picture-perfect tale was the way Aurora was restlessly writhing on the bed already downed in cold sweat. She seemed to be having a nightmare as her arms flailed aimlessly, and she groaned continuously. Her beautiful face was morphed into a frown as tears escaped from beneath her kids and trickled down the sides of her face. She was indeed a sorry figure, which was a far cry from the fairytale we all knew. Soon, her body froze before she jolted awake in a sitting position. She panted like she had just run a marathon, and her eyes searched the room frantically, looking but not seeing. Her eyes were dazed and unfocused as she seemed to not be mentally present. She soon regained her breath but kept staring at a blank wall facing her bed. She stayed in that position for what seemed like hours but was actually minutes. Ring! Ring! The alarm clock on her bedside drawer blared continuously, disturbing the eerie silence that had engulfed the room ever since Aurora woke up. That seemed to do the trick of snapping her out of her haze and reverie as she jolted, and her eyes finally cleared up. She shook her head and turned to the direction of her bedside drawer before reaching out and hitting the alarm clock. Silence.

Aurora. Thirty minutes later, I was done with taking my bath and ready to start the day. I was currently walking down to the kitchen to fix something for myself to eat. As soon as I got to the kitchen, I winced to myself. Perhaps I was not ready to start the day as I thought that I was. I looked around as I saw many people running helter-skelter in preparation for the wedding that would be taking place the next day. Whose wedding? You might be wondering? It was the wedding of my mother. Oops, sorry, I meant the third wedding I've witnessed the woman going through in all my eighteen years of existence. I couldn't figure out, for the life of me, why the woman never stayed with a man. But I couldn't blame her since she was someone who lived and breathed for the sake of money alone. The rumour from the death of her last husband came to my mind, and I couldn't help but shudder that I was associated with this kind of woman. A woman who was rumoured to have been the one who killed the man just to inherit his wealth as the man has no child to leave anything to. I couldn't possibly say the rumours were false, seeing as my mother has indeed inherited everything that belonged to the man, down to his last pin. I watched as the cooks began to mix flour for doughs, probably to make some desserts or whatever. I didn't know, and I didn't exactly care. But I do pity the man who was my mother's new target. Alpha Townsend. He was the werewolf Alpha of Cold Heart Pack. But maybe I shouldn't pity him so much since the man was so careless he didn't do his findings about his new wife. When I first heard about the name given to the pack, I thought the Alpha was someone extremely wicked. I had already begun to dread my stay at the pack as his new stepdaughter, to the point that I avoided him each time he came to visit my mother. But he had been the complete opposite when I got to meet him almost a week ago when they broke the news to me that they would be getting married. I heard that the man had three sons, but they didn't show their face during the meet-up. It seemed I was not the only one who was weary about this union as it seemed. But I had no choice. "Oh, look. The cold queen is awake." I heard one of the servants say to the other in a voice that pretended to be hushed, yet still carried out loud and clear. Cold Queen. A name I had inherited from my mother's servant because of my cold nature. It wasn't my fault that I neither laughed nor joked or played around like most people did. What was in my life to make me happy? "Aurora!" The main object for my cold nature screamed my name like I was on the brink of death. I sighed inwardly as my sea green eyes turned to meet the cold stare of my mother's brown one. "Mother," I said solemnly. Even though I tried to make my voice as calm as possible, the inner turmoil inside of me was anything but calm. Ever since I knew my left hand from my right, my mother had treated me like I was nothing but dirt to her. I never knew when her anger would skyrock, and she would throw a knife at me in anger. I never knew when she would deem me a disgrace to her name and order that I be kept on house lock until she thought to release me, which could sometimes be weeks. So, why should I be happy? Tell me why I shouldn't be the cold queen everyone calls me? Perhaps my parents should have named me Elsa or Snow White instead of Aurora. "Why are you up so late?" She accused me. Late? I was tempted to tell her that I was thirty minutes earlier than the time she gave me to always make my daily appearance. But I kept my mouth shut since I didn't want her wrath. A slap landed on my face, and I had to sniff in to keep the tears from falling. Murmurs went up in the air from the servants, but none of them dared utter a word in fear of what my mother would do to them. "Clean the entire house by yourself. I don't want to see asinglee speck of dust anywhere. If I do, count yourself among the dead." That said, she sahashed her hips and walked away from me. I'm okay, it's okay, nothing is wrong with me. I repeated the words to myself severally until they penetrated deep into my soul. I quickly picked up the broom and went into the yard to start myclean-upp from there. As I swept the place, the hurt I thought I had controlled returned with full force, and I couldn't stop the tears that flowed from my eyes. I couldn't tell why my very own mother was always treating me like I was an outcast. Or maybe I was an outcast since I didn't have an identity that suited her. I couldn't understand why her attitude was the way she was. Why would a mother hate her daughter to the point of maltreating her worst than a servant? I shook my head to brush the thoughts away. I couldn't afford to sink into a self-pity mood now. If my mother came around and saw that I hadn't finished the task she set before me, I couldn't tell how worse her reaction would be. But I do know that the punishment I would get would be one I wouldn't want to ever remember, yet I would never be able to forget all my life. "Make sure you go over to get some refreshments for the guest the moment you are done with cleaning everywhere!" Mother yelled another command to me from the window of her room that looked directly into the yard where I was. "Yes, Mother!" I yelled back at her. Would there be no end to this torture?5.AuroraI tossed and turned about on my bed as the event of the day replayed in my mind.I shivered at the way Titan had flung the man off me like he weighed nothing more than paper. The man had lost consciousness instantly. Titan had held my hand and took me out of the place. I sighed as I remembered how I had shamelessly got aroused for him again just from holding hands.Whether he noticed or not, he didn't say anything to me.When I asked him what he was doing at the hotel, he had just looked at me like I was asking the wrong question, so I kept mute.Mother was in the living room when we returned. When she saw me, she knew that there was no way I would have returned that quickly if the man had succeeded in his motives. However, she didn't say anything. Probably because she saw me with Titan. And of course, I tried to please my saviour for the rest of the day. I took water to him, prepared food for him, and was on standby just in case he needed me. He hasn't said anything to me y
4.AuroraThe place Mother wanted me to follow her to happen to be a hotel at the downside of town. The place was so remote that even if someone was being murdered brutally, no one would know about it.The hair on my body rose, and I felt this urge to turn back and race off."Come on, hurry up now!" Mother yelled at me.I saw that I was a lot behind her and struggled to meet up with her. I didn't know what she planned but I could tell that whatever it was, it couldn't be good.We got to the reception of the hotel. Mother went straight to the receptionist and muttered something to the young lady who seemed to be around the same age as me. Her eyes flickered to me, and I saw something like a pity reflected in them.My fear increased, and I began to step back, ready to bolt. Mother must have gotten whatever kind of information she needed from the lady because she turned back to me. Her eyes pinned me with a hard stare, stopping me in my tracks, and she motioned for me to follow her. I li
3.AuroraFor days after that, I did my best to make sure I steered cleared off the paths of the three brothers. For all it was worth, I could tell that they were doing the same with me.As usual, Mother made sure I worked until I almost dropped dead even in the new house. And of course, I made sure I stayed away from everybody, including the servants. It wasn't until long before they began to call me the cold queen even in the pack. That didn't bother me anyway. What was more important to me was staying out of trouble.I swiped over the surface I was cleaning once again. The place sparkled, and I smiled to myself for a job well done. I got up from my crouching position and stretched, only to see the three brothers all staring at me like hawks. I staggered backward a little from how hot the intensity of their gazes were.A small part of me told me that Titan must have told his brothers about our little encounter, and they must be here to see how true it was.My fears compounded when I
2.Aurora.Thankfully, I managed to overcome yesterday's ordeal without getting on the wrong side of my mother. Now, we were on our way to the camp of the werewolves.I couldn't understand why my mother, a human, had decided to marry a supernatural man this time.Imagine my shock when I got to know that the werewolves that were supposed to exist only in fairytale truly exist? I couldn't help but think if demons, witches and wizards, dragons, and every other supposed fairytale beasts were, in fact, not just fairy-tale.I took my mind off it as I saw Alpha Townsend, the man my mother was marrying, walked into the large hall where the wedding and vow exchange was going to be taking place.Beside him were three men who looked identical yet different in their eyecolors and body builds. The first one was very handsome with his thick, silky black hair and deep blue eyes and broad shoulders. His eyes looked very cold as he regarded everyone in the room. Even I shivered from the intensity of t
