Chapter 7: Theme park

Aries P.O.V

I had to admit that I was honestly shocked that Mariette got into the SUV with us. I knew that we were taking a big risk in doing this. I knew that there was a chance that she would give us the boot for tracking her down to her school and trying to convince her to skip the rest of the day and hang out with us. I couldn't stop myself from glancing back in the rear view mirror. Her beauty completely had me hypnotised. There was something about her, something so rare ... almost like a sort of gemstone. She reminded me so much of my mother. Maybe that was the reason why I felt so comfortable around her, she was the spitting image of my mother when it came to her personality. I loved rubbing her up the wrong way and seeing her feisty side.

The moment Mariette caught me looking at her in the rear-view mirror, she made a face before giving me the death glare. Her death glare seemed to have been one of her favorite things to give me. I just snickered, causing Allec, who sat next to me, to give me a swat on the arm. I just looked at him, almost going off on him, before I remembered that I had promised my brothers that I would be on my best behavior when it came to Mariette. I just sighed before I gripped the steering wheel a bit harder. I could see my knuckles start to become pale. I was thankful to see the edges of the rollercoasters come to view in the distance. I was thankful that we were close as I was unsure of how long I would still be able to be in this car with her, and not tease her.

I put the car in park as soon as I was satisfied with the parking I had found. I chose to rather park in the shade as I didn't want to get into some kind of inferno the moment we got back to the car, I was sure that Mariette would at least appreciate that. We got out of the car and I could see Mariette scrunching her nose up at something. "What now?" I asked her as she placed her delicate arms on her hips. Mariette just gave me a knowing look before sighing. "If I wanted to walk the marathon all the way to the theme park, and actually still be in time to enjoy the rides, I would have started walking at 08:00 a.m. this morning!" Mariette said with a hint of sarcasm.

I had to bite down on my bottom lip so hard that I could taste the metal of my own blood running across my tongue. "Behave!" I heard both Allec and Alex's voices in my head. I just rolled my eyes at Mariette before leading the way to the theme park. "Well, at least I fucking tried doing something that would benefit you in the future!" I mumbled under my breath as I tried to put a little more distance between Mariette and I.

Allec and Alex walked like her two body guards right next to her. I had to admit that I was feeling a little bit jealous of how well they were getting along, but deep down inside of me I liked the feisty side of Mariette way more than anything else. We walked all the way to the entrance of the theme park and I was thankful that I finally paid for our entrance just to get Mariette to stop snapping snippy comments in my direction.

"So, I take it your voice must be tired by now from all the bitching and moaning to get here, how about we try out a lighter ride for now, just so your voice can recover and build up a little more for when we head on out on the big rides" I said to Mariette with a smirk, earning me three different death glares. One from Mariette, one from Allec and one from Alex. I just laughed as I walked over to one of the smaller rollercoasters. I was happy to see that there wasn't a line so we could easily get on the ride. As luck would have it for Mariette, she got seated right next to me with Allec and Alex sitting right behind us. "Sorry to see you are stuck with me" I said with a smirk as the ride operator pulled the metal bar down that was supposed to hold us in place.

I felt the sparks shoot up my entire body as her leg rested against mine. It made everything inside of me go wild. Even, Roan, my wolf was going crazy inside my head, chanting 'mate' over and over again. Mariette just gave me a look. "Well, let's hope there is a malfunction on the ride causing me to fall out. Hopefully, it would put me out of my misery!" Mariette sneered back at me. Damn ... this woman would be the death of me. "Don't worry ... being that you are a vampire, I am sure that you will live. After all... the lot of you have what ... like 1000 lives?" I said, smirking at the look on her face.

She clearly didn't expect us to already know that she was a vampire, and by the look of things, she was still clearly trying to figure out what species we were. "Let's rather enjoy the ride and try to get to the next one before the two of you manage to kill each other. After all... only one of you two are mortal, so I guess it would ruin the day if we head on home minus one" Allec quickly said as the ride started to pull away. We weren't going that fast, but I couldn't help but glance over at Mariette the whole time. Seeing that cute smile on her face and her dimples, goddess ... she would be able to break me within seconds apart. We were just about to go over the last loop before the ride suddenly stopped, leaving us hanging upside down.

"Fucking hell" the four of us managed to utter simultaneously.
