Marcus and his two brothers, Jackson and Lucien have been living a normal life for the past ten years since they lost their family and pack members to an old enemy. They have always made it a point to keep to themselves and stay within the boundary and rules they have set as a three men pack, and that include not wanting mate or anything else that would call attention to their little secret and put them in danger, especially with report of an old enemy returning to town. Everything was going fine until an old friend came requesting for an unusual help. Little did they know it was the beginning of what would change their lives as well as everything they stood for, starting with Marcus, the eldest of the three brothers who is soon to find out the biggest surprise of his life when he and his brothers went running to the rescue without a second thought.

Marcus Vega, the eldest of the Vega brothers cursed under his breath as he stood with a deep frown cresting his rather handsome face as he stared at the damage done to the young calf that lay mutilated on the ground.
It went missing from the farm the previous night and he had set out during the early hours of that morning only to find it in that horrible state.
His anger was evident as he bend over the dead animal at his feet. Its limp was ripped apart and fed on. He could see marks on its flesh as he continued to inspect the damage that has been caused to its young body.
Marcus knew it was no mere incident as tales of Vampires returning to town was resurfacing again pretty quickly.
What seems to bother him more was the fact that, they could dare make his livestock a target for their blood tasty fangs. Marcus needed to warn his brothers. They needs to know, it's no longer safe out there or anywhere for that matter as long as those blood suckers were out there. It was best to stay in and safe.
He searched for dry leaves and covered the horrid sight before stepping away. A deep sigh escaping his mouth as he did so.
It was already midday when Marcus returned back to the farm again in his horse. He sighed in deeply when he noticed a familiar pick up van waiting by the front lawn of their house.
Nobody visited Marcus and his brothers aside from, Edwin Roland. He was the family friend and also the only one who knew about their secret and if he was there then it must be because he has some news about the recent killing in town and has probably come to warn them about it.
Edwin Roland is a human but a very reliable one too. Aside from being their friends, he is also part of the people keeping the peace in the town and so far, he and his brothers have been living as normal as normal can be.Climbing down from his horse back, Marcus began to stride towards him.
"Good morning, Eddy. What brings you to our side of the world, let me guess, it's too cold up north?" Marcus had asked with a chuckle.
The older man only tipped his earthy colored cow skin rancher cap at Marcus with a smile of his own before replying.
"You bet it is Marcus and I have come to see what we can do to salvage the situation. Let talk inside"
Marcus responded with a nod and gestured for him to follow him inside so they could talk further. From the tone of his voice, Marcus knew there was trouble and he was indeed, in need of their help.
His instinct has never been wrong especially when it comes to the people he cares about.
The two men walked into the living room and up the stairs leading to the patio without saying a single word to each other.
Edwin Roland walked in and leaned against the dull wooden railing, his brown hazel eyes casting a long gaze towards the vast piece of land with cattle’s grazing at a distance. From the look in his face, Marcus knew it was exactly as he had feared even without being told.
Edwin was afraid of something and with how much his brows were kneaded then it must be something bad.
Humbery Town has a history of fighting off living death many centuries ago and even though their existence is now hidden, only a few are aware they still work among them and Edwin was one of those few people.
Only the living death can make Edwin this worried and helpless. Marcus was almost certain about it.
"Where are the rest?" Edwin had asked, shortly after waiting for a while.
"On their way up, I already called them" Marcus said and Edwin didn’t bother to ask him how. He already knew the three brothers can talk to themselves through their mind links without actually saying a word, part of the reason why he felt coming to them was actually a good idea even though their existence is just as disturbing as their other counterpart, but then again, they were still the lesser evil and more reliable.
They waited another moment before they were joined by Marcus two other brothers, Jackson and Lucien who showed up alert as though they were already in the knowing.
Jackson was next to Marcus and Lucien was the last and the most lay back of the three brothers."Eddy " Lucien nodded at their friend before walking further to settled down beside his bother at the railing while Jackson did same as well.
"What's the big news Ed, we heard you have something important to share with us" Jax had asked.
“Is it Money? Because I could use some cash right now” Lucien joined in with a chuckle and Marcus growled under his breath putting an end to the laughter.
Lucien grumbled under his breath but said nothing further and Jackson simply scoffed under his breath.
The older man among the three brothers stood straighter and sighed in deeply before looking all three in the face.
"I need your assistance boys." He told them simply.
"Whatever you want, Eddy. Tell us what happened and if we can help you then why not?" Marcus said firmly and Edwin nodded before continuing.
"One of the council member daughter has gone missing. She went out and never returned”
“Then go report to the right authority. We are not the police” Jackson expressed and Lucien agreed with a nod before adding.
“The council members have connection and can get the whole of this area swimming with cops within a blink of an eye”
“ Come on boys. This is bigger than the police. She practically disappeared without a trace and you and I know that’s impossible”
Marcus gave a shrug, “If truly she disappeared without a trace then you and I knows she is already gone for good, Eddy and there is nothing we can do to help”
“That’s if we wanted to help” Jackson quickly chirped in.
“Look, I know you boys don’t see eyes to eye with the council but this girl is worth saving”
Lucien scoffed. “What’s so special about her. I mean, so many people have gotten missing before and no one moved mountain for them. Why her?”
Edwin lip parted slightly but hesitation took the best of him. Marcus saw the look in his eyes and knew he was either lying or not telling the whole truth.
“I can see this girl mean something to you so the sooner you tell us the whole truth, the better for her” Marcus said and watched his shoulders tensed even more.
All three brothers watched as Edwin Roland shifted his weight from one foot to the next before looking up at Marcus.
“She is special because she is my daughter”
Marcus stood at the door of his room watching Laura sleep. He bit his lips slightly as he watched her. There was an emptiness in his chest as he looked at her. He growled as he slid his fingers through his hair. He felt ashamed of his actions, and he wanted to correct them, but he hardly knew how to do that.Fine, he had been upset, but to hit Laura the way he had not once or twice had been borderline wrong. He slammed his hand on the wall in frustration. But, was it actually his fault? He couldn’t imagine anyone touching his mate, even if it were his brothers. It felt wrong on so many levels, and he hated it.“I…”Marcus turned around and his eyes met Laura’s. She was trying to sit up, and with the way her eyes went round when she noted that it was him, he knew she was sore afraid of him. This was not the type of partner he had imagined he was going to be to her. He had brought home an unwanted pregnancy, though he strongly believed that the baby was not his, but nevertheless, that
Jackson walked slowly out of the bathroom, only to stand at the doorway. It was evident he wanted to give her some privacy, yet not wanting her to be on her own, so he could be able to assist when she needed him.Laura was grateful for that. She waited for a while for her hormones to stabilize, and wondered slightly could be cause of it.Was she pregnant? She swallowed hard in shock. If she was pregnant, then she was going to be a mother. How could this happen right when she and Marcus were going through a rough patch? She barely had an answer to that question, but one thing was certain, she was not going to tell Marcus till she was sure that they were ready to be parents.Laura pulled herself up, and walked over to the washing basin once more, cleaning herself up. She would have to talk to Marcus, and hope for the best. Someone had to be the matured one in their relationship, and she decided to be just that.Lost in thoughts, Laura pulled away from the basin, and walked headlong onto
Laura stopped midway, her worry getting ahead of her. There was no way she was going to sleeping in that room. She would have to make sure that it never happens. It was something that she had to do, and she would do it. Ok, maybe she was being overdramatic, but Marcus needed to see that he was hurting her feelings. She went back into the room, and noted that he was back out. That was just right. He had come out because she had gone. The man. She barely looked at him as she walked over to her side of the bed, grabbed her pillow and made her way out of the room. She made sure that this time, that the door pulled from the hinges. Well, it didn’t do that though. But, she knew he flinched, and that was enough for her.“What does he think he is to keep doing this all the time?” She grumbled as she made her way down. “If he is already tired of me, why can’t he just say it. Instead, he keeps giving me some stupid cold attitude like he is a kid,” she grumbled. She took the stairs, two steps a
Marcus rolled on his side, hoping to grab Laura in bed, only for him to hit the floor with a thud. He gasped in shock, as he rose up from the floor in shock. What was that?Marcus let his eyes skim through the length and breadth of the bed, but he didn’t see any figure that remotely looked like Laura, and that sort of made him upset.Where could she had gone? His hands slowly slid to the back of his head, and he massaged the growing migraine. He wanted to hold Laura tight, and kiss her lips sporadically, but that wasn’t happening.Marcus groaned slightly as he made his way to his clothes, wearing them quickly. He had to find her, and give her that kiss. He walked out of the house, struck by how quiet the whole house was. “Laura,” he called, but received no response. Was she even at home? Of course, she was. Where else would she go this evening. He knew fully well that Laura wasn’t an outgoing person. She definitely liked to do things on her own, and didn’t like to go out much. It was
Laura blinked in horror as Jackson held onto his head. She was so scared and worried that something was going to happen to him. “Please, stop,” she cried. “Is someone home?” She screamed on top of her voice. She had barely finished speaking, when Jackson pulled Max up, dragging him, and then, pulling his head into the running water. Max was thrashing about and screaming, but Jackson wouldn’t let go.When Laura thought that the whole thing wouldn’t get any worse, Jackson was repeatedly banging Max head on the counter. She screamed for help and finally, some men came in from the door, and helped to separate the men.Max was bleeding profusely, but Jackson despite the pain of earlier, seemed like he had been a spectator in the fight. Though, his eyes were brutally cold, and filled with rage.“You son of a bitch, if I see your hands on Laura again, I’m going to make sure I cut it off. Don’t even dare with the Johnson’s or you would have yourselves to blame,” Jackson threatened.Laura wat
Laura couldn’t ignore the fear she felt no matter how hard she tried to. She had to leave this place. She placed as many portions of toast as she could in her plate, and ran up her room. She sat down, and went to the mini fridge in Marcus room, taking a glass of milk. Before sitting down, she realized she had not locked the door, and she did just that. Laura went back to her food, and ate as quickly as she could. She was still so scared, and hoped that Max would stat away from her. The last thing she needed was his unwarranted attention. She sighed as she drank her milk, and ate more of the toast. It was so delicious, and yummy. She wasn’t sure she could get enough of it. Ugh! So good. Lucien was definitely the best cook out of the brothers. Yes, she said it.She sighed, and slowly got up to her purse in other to take her phone. There might be some messages from her workplace, and mails too. Just because she was with Marcus now didn’t mean she would neglect that part of her life. Thou
