Karilaya leaned closer to the man's chest as they approached the gate to cover her face, she could not stop her heart from racing as she could feel the steady gazes of the soldiers that they passed by all directed at her. Yet it seemed that just by being in the said man’s arms was enough to allow her passage without even being asked for her papers.

She was only able to breathe a sigh of relief when they had finally reached the inner part of the walls. The whole place may have been messed up but it was still recognizable, even though it now pretty much looked like a ghost town, having so very few people there now.

“I think I’ll be good there,” she finally says pointing to the fountain area in the middle of the town’s plaza.
