Karilaya stood frozen when she realized where she was, so many things came playing inside her mind. Was she found out, do they know her, why exactly was she here, and for what reason? Those were the things that kept plaguing her mind when she was finally left within the confines of one of the royal guest rooms of the castle.
Though the place seemed the same, several things had been removed such as their banner and a few others things that showed the Lushan heritage and replaced with western empires.
Karilaya suddenly felt defeated right now, being caught halfway through it all, she could not understand how she ended up in that situation though she was so careful.
She took a peek at the terrace, three guards were stationed just below all looked well trained and were fully armored, she then proceeded to move towards the door silently and carefully nudging the door’s knob, it clanked but did not open.
“It seems you are not what you say you are. So tell me, who are you exactly,” the captain asks, as they were now threading the castle halls. It was already late afternoon and the sun was high up in the sky, besides that there were a ton of soldiers that were either patrolling around or standing guard on every corner of the place, so it wasn’t much of a problem for her walking along with the captain without a chaperon, besides the fact that she was still hiding her identity not to mention that even though she knows that the man was an enemy soldier she could not remove the reality that he has saved her before gaining her trust.“I am but a servant sire,” she answers making sure not to make eye contact with the man, remembering her nana’s advice a while ago.“The commander and the royal adviser actually have a different opinion on that,” the captain says giving her that trick
“There’s currently a debate of whether you pose a danger to the prince or not, and if the leaders find out you are well versed in magic, that’s just going to make it even more complicated for the two of us since I did speak for you after all,” captain Maxwell admitted, forcing a laugh.Though it sounded like a big problem, the man did not show any fear at all as his face remained straight and seemingly unbothered but Karilaya could feel that tension that was seeping out of the man as he would sometimes end up in silence while they were walking.“Why...Why would you do that for me sire,” she could not help but say, feeling a bit guilty seeing as the man was being troubled.Captain Maxwell turned to her with an amused look, raising one brow as he smirked. “It is a knight's duty, to keep a lady safe, is it not,” he says with a playful tone.Though there ha
The full moon gave a mesmerizing blue glow that night, lighting up the whole kingdom from where she was. It was as if everything was like before if only there wasn’t so much misery and suffering that could be seen right now. From where she was the princess could see a lot of houses still left abandoned, broken, and burnt, people could be seen wandering around several parts of the town, scavenging for whatever food they could find, all the while trying to fend for themselves as some parts of the walls were broken down and the magical barrier was no longer there, allowing some of the beast to enter the town.Though the imperial guards would handle them every now and then, seeing as they do not bother to fix the walls only end up causing chaos and fear when night comes, as everyone no longer feels safe.Karilaya’s deep thought was only disturbed when she heard three loud thuds on the door, turning towards it she
“My lady, get back,” Soraya pushed her aside as the soldiers began attacking the human-like figures that were made of light.Focusing her energy on her eyes after chanting the words, “show me the light!” A pentagram sigil began forming on her pupils like an added layer on it, it allowed her to see how the beings around them were being created. It would start with a sort of riffle on a certain location, which would either be the floor, ceiling, or the wall, followed by the appearance of a light that had a spherical form of a specific size, then a figure would suddenly emerge from the light, starting from the head and would slowly rising up.There was something oddly familiar about them, every time they turn to dust the energy that surges from their bodies was faintly brushing on her skin. They were not living beings that was for sure, but they were not spirits either. Though she was using a special
Karilaya had not been able to sleep that day, bothered and curious as to what exactly was those white warriors made of light. The beings were numerous and almost unstoppable, yet they instantly disappeared when dawn came, the magic was somewhat familiar but it was also unknown to her which just aroused her curiosity even more. “My lady, are you sure you have everything you need?” That warm deep voice woke the princess from her deep thought. Karilaya quickly turned to the man and was wide-eyed seeing him leaning down on her, having that curious look on his face, a bit amused with the lady being lost within the thralls of her mind. “Uh, yes,” she quickly answers when she felt her blood rise up to her face in embarrassment. Returning her gaze to the table she tried to busy herself with flipping pages of several books that were scattered there. As per request, she was allowed to go to the roya
The captain gave a courteous bow to lady Karilaya, making her giggle. The two had just finished discussing something and were now saying their farewells.Just from afar, Soraya had remained watching seeing as how the two had been always seeing each other these past few days. When they finally parted it was then that the female soldier decided to approach her lady.“My lady,” Soraya quickly bows to the woman, placing her hand on her chest as a sign of respect.Karilaya was startled when she saw her soldier waiting there in the hall, quickly removing the smile and cheer off her face.“Soraya, have you been there long?” she asks a bit taken aback by being seen like that with the captain.“No, my lady,” Soraya just remained lowering her head in order not to embarrass her lady. The princess quickly fixes herself and puts on a sm
“Are you all right, my lady,” the captain asked as he reached out to her while she was about to step into the carriage.“Oh, yes,” Karilaya quickly smiled at the man and just continued her stepping inside. The captain remained by the door of the carriage, taking a good look at the lady who seemed a bit no herself, as she would turn silent every now and then.“I heard you collapsed yesterday, are you perchance not feeling well or maybe you are lacking sleep, my lady, you know you can take a rest any time you want,” the man reminds her, worry etched onto his face as he examined her further. There was a sudden jolt of tingling sensation in Karilaya’s hand that quickly made her clench her fist, as she was reminded of the cause of it. She could still feel that surge of energy that invaded her the night before. It was like her energy was overflowing and she was hav
Captain Maxwell was still busy ordering the guard to make a perimeter and secure the whole area. That was why he was suddenly caught by surprise when the carriage arrived, and its doors flew open, releasing a lady clad in a white gown.“Captain, I need to talk to you,” The lady did not waste any time saying when she finally got to him.Gazing at their surroundings, there were already shadows lurking around them within the broken-down buildings and some within the alleys.“My lady, it is still not safe to come out here, so if you will just go back in the carriage first,” he tries to coax her to go back, gently nudging her to return to the carriage. But the woman just frowned at him with a sharp look in her eyes. She shrugs his hand to face him. Maxwell ended up sighing as the other two women alighted the carriage to follow their lady.“I am quit
