Realizing that he and Marilyn were the only two left in the room he gave her a kind smile and held out his arm for her. “Ma’am, would you like an escort back down to the celebration?”
She smiled back as she took his arm. “You’ll make a great mate.” He smiled as he led her out of the room and downstairs, back to the loud music and chattering in the hall. He excused himself from Marilyn as he caught Jordyn’s eyes as she was talking to Jade, both of them staring daggers at Leon as he left.
“Jade, do you mind if I steal a dance from my mate?” Jayce asked as he held his hand out to Jordyn.
“Go for it.” Jade answered as she sipped from what looked like a glass of champagne.

Walking into his brother’s hospital room only made the feeling worse. Josh was smiling at him but all Jayce could smell was death, mixed with Josh’s usual cedar wood smell. The smell was enough to make Jayce’s stomach turn.
