Chapter Four

AEYRAH

I was still reeling from the shock of what had happened in the bathroom close to two hours later, when my bedroom door suddenly opened. I quick muttered some spells under my breath to make the whole room have my scent.

I knew the Lakewood castle, even if I had been gone for a long time. And I knew that one always tried to avoid any kind of scandal.

“It’s really dark in here, you should have pulled the curtains open.” My mum said, as she entered the room, walking straight to the curtains and pulling them open.

“Mum, the room is actually lit up, and it’s not really necessary to open those.” I protested, although I knew it all fell on deaf ears, but one could at least try?

“Oh ahh..” exactly the answer I expect. “Maryah is back and would very well soon be on her way to see you!” My mum clapped her hands excitedly. Of course I was also excited to see my shy cousin.

“Oh, I’ll be waiting for her then.” I replied and got up from my bed, stretching to release the tension in my muscles. It felt so good to sleep on my bed again.

Not that the one I had way over at my apartment was bad, but this one was just simply too notch.

“Well, dinner is ready, be down in fifteen minutes.” She smiled and came over to give me a peck on the cheek. And left the room, with me standing and staring after her.

Gosh! I loved Yonaiah to pieces, and I was going to do all my best to make up for the eight years I had been away for.

And there was the fact that I was also about to see my dad after years of being away from him too. My father, in all his strictness, I still loved him, and couldn’t wait to see him.

YONAIAH

From the moment I stepped into my daughters room, I had known something was wrong. It had been in the air, but at the same time, not really there. But a quick discovery spell, and the little one she had cast in the room to hide ‘his’ smell, was lifted.

I could smell him almost instantly.

Larkxe.

The very reason my daughter had moved away from her whole family all these years ago.

I sighed and placed one hand on the moon pendant I wore on my neck at all times.

By the moon!

There was nothing we could do now. The moon goddess has it all in her hands now.

LARKXE

“You know she is coming here, don’t you?” My mother asked, sitting down at the foot of my bed. I had been just about to leave and meet up wit Uri, when she had walked into my room, looking as flawless and beautiful as ever.

I nodded.

I had heard rumors of her coming, and even if I was somewhat excited to see her, a part of me didn’t feel a thing. I was excited to see her so I could know who she was and why every single person in the lakewoo castle were talking about her.

“I don’t know, ma. I guess I am glad to finally see this girl whom everyone says both I and her were inseparable, up until she had left. Why had she left? Why didn’t I remember her?

It felt like a part of my memory was missing…blank even. “A girl who I can’t even remember.”

“Oh, that’s going to be up to you, when you see her.” I couldn’t tell if my mum was excited about ‘her’ coming or she was just being herself. I was closer to my mum, than my father, but she was so reserved, you would think she never joked or played with me. Well I didn’t need to play with her now, I was well on my way to thirty.

“I guess…” I didn’t even know what to say.

“You know your father would be furious with you if you go out this night, right?” Urgh..I didn’t even want to remember him as I was already tired of him, especially after that stunt he had pulled early in the morning.

“Mum it’s my usual weekend out anyway. When I’m back, I can face anything that’s waiting for me . Dad…her…anything.” I shrugged on a black leather jacket and my wolf cooed at the feel of it against us.

As if it won’t shred it to pieces the moment I tried to shift.

My mother nodded and gave me one of her sweetest smiles. The ones that just made me conclude she was bipolar.

“For the umpteenth time, Lark, I am not bipolar!” She scolded and came to give me a hug and a kiss. Yes, she had a habit of slipping into my head to hear my thought.

“Oh, you are definitely the sweetest ever.” I said and hugged her back. She was definitely bipolar! Hah!

She just smiled and shook her head, before exiting the room, with her long dark red dress, floating after her.

Sometimes, I loved the fact that the residents of the Lakewood mansion still dressed like they were in the medieval era. And on other times, I just got tired of it.

Like come’n! It is 2022 and not the 1700’s

I closed my door and went back to getting ready for the party with Uri. Usually, when we were going on outings like this one, he was the one to pick me, but since he wasn’t home, I had to drive myself. My father gave me a lot of liberty, but not one to own an actual car. I had resented him for a long while for that, but I just had to accept it.

If it we were humans, I would have been long gone from home by now, but we were werewolves, and being the Alpha’s son, I had a lot of responsibilities on my shoulders.

But that didn’t stop me from getting myself an old beat up truck which I hid on the mansions grounds.

Hah!
