It took another week before Asher could adequately prepare and select the forest he felt was the most likely to be the home of Mia’s pack. It was a good thing there weren’t so many options.

During that time, Layla and Dave ran an unending campaign to dissuade him from his plans. When that hadn’t worked, Dave offered to go with him. But Asher could already imagine the reception he would receive as soon as he stepped into the pack lands; he didn’t want Dave to be caught in the crossfire, or to be more accurate, caught in between a pair of teeth. He wasn’t sure Dave had clearly understood the part about werewolves. Or the man didn’t believe it. Asher would not risk it.

So, to make sure Dave didn’t fight him or dare to follow, Asher left in the middle of the night like a thief. It was almost disturbing how good he was getting at sneaking around in the dark. He jumped in his car and drove towards the forest with only hope that he was headed in
