Chapter 6

   Roscoe's POV:

I'm truly extremely agitated. My wolf thought it right to overrule me and let my mate go out.

Whenever I tried telling Alaric to bring her back, Avalon would take over and tell him to let her enjoy, to not leave any stone unturned to make her happy. Ever since her throat healed, she had been rapidly healing, not needing any more meds. She was pretty much healed save for some cuts on her back and one on her thigh. She was so adamant about leaving, I got scared. I didn't want her to run away.

Catalina had gone through years of abuse at the hand of the ones she was to call family. Maybe, treating her like a songbird in a gilded cage wasn't the right way to go about it. I could feel my wolf's agreement. I should most likely apologise when she returns, at least she was with Alaric.

I sighed deciding to get some paperwork done. I took a seat on my study and got to work. After a while, I was frowning at the paper in front of me, tapping my pen on the table. Vampire sightings around our pack had increased. Some of the Alphas that were my friends had also confirmed to the same along with claiming lycan sighting. This is very troubling; on one hand I want to capture them so that they don't harm my pack but on the other hand they haven't done anything to hurt any of the packs. They have maintained a secure distance, just seem to be observing, looking for something. I can't just attack someone who is yet to do something. All that could be done was increase security measures. Border Patrol was going to be hell for coming few days.

The sound of the lovely giggle of my mate reached me as I rounded around the corner. Seems like someone had finally returned. I found the melody to see Alaric and Catalina sitting on the couch looking over some sort of a catalogue or magazine, I think whilst laughing and joking around.

"Had fun today?" I asked causing them to jump, startled

Alaric was instantly in front of a startled Catalina, his eyes blazing a lovely amber, growling and ready to attack when he noticed me. He immediately calmed down and bowed his head a little as a sign of submission. I just nodded to him and looked at my mate who was looking back at me like a owl.

"It was very fun. Alaric took me to many cloth shops, library and many more. We bought many things, I told him we didn't need to but he insisted that I can buy whatever, not to bother about the cost or anything." Catalina grinned

"You shouldn't have spent so much of your money Alaric. Just send me the bills and I'll get the money transferred back into your account." I frowned

"About that...?" Alaric was scratching the back of his neck smiling awkwardly

   "What?" I asked

"I used your cards. You have always kept some of your cards with me so, I just used it buy your mate whatever she wanted." Alaric said sheepishly

"Okay." I nodded, slowly taking in what he said

I suppose that is fine, after all she is my mate and deserves to spoiled rotten. Seeing that smile on her face was enough. It always seemed to make my day ten times brighter.

"You seem tensed though, what's the matter?" Catalina asked looking concerned

"It's nothing, precious. Just pack stuff, why don't you go rest? I need to talk to Alaric about something. I'll get you something to eat in a bit, sound good?" I smiled

"Okay, can you also bring all the stuff I brought to the room while you're at it?" Catalina nodded

"Of course, mi amore." I said agreeably

With a smile my precious mate skipped away, most likely to her room. I shook my head at her. Turning back to Alaric to discuss with him the border patrol, I gestured him to come along with me. I led us to the kitchen where I decided to make some spaghetti for mi amore. While I was making spaghetti, we discussed the problem with vampires and lycans, along with how to arrange the border patrol and everything. Alaric left after we had discussed about the issue.

I put the spaghetti in two plates and brought it up to the room only to find it empty. I left the plates on the bed and searched for Catalina, where could she be? I could feel Avalon starting to get restless, thinking the worst. Not going to say that the thought of her running didn't cross my mind but I tried to stay calm. She won't run away, will she?

I checked the bathroom, closet, under the bed, everywhere in the room. I was pacing back and forth worriedly in the room when the door opened and in walked, my mate with shopping bags. I rushed to her, checking her over to see if she was okay before burying my face in the crook of her neck taking in her scent. Catalina didn't move, supposedly not wanting to trigger a frantic wolf. Once, I was calm enough, I stepped away from her and took the shopping bags from her, chucking them in the closet.

"Where the hell were you?" I asked calmly

"Getting my shopping bags. I got bored waiting for you." Catalina pouted

"Alright. Just tell me beforehand, okay?" I said relatively calm and relaxed now

"I didn't leave the house. You said to tell if I ever need to go out of the house without you." Catalina said confusedly tilting her head

   "Let's just eat." I sighed

I gave up, I didn't want to argue or fight with her over this. She hadn't left the house, I most likely would have found her by following her scent had it not been for my extremely distraught wolf making me assume the worst instantly. As long as she informed me before leaving the house, we should be fine. With the threats and dangers lurking outside, it would be best if she stayed in as much as possible which will most definitely prove to be hard.

We ate dinner in silence. While eating I was contemplating whether telling her about the skulking perils was a good idea or not. Deciding that telling her was a better option, that was if she ever by any chance ran into them then she would know to run and call for help, at least it should make her cautious.

"Mi amore, I need to talk to you about something." I said in utter seriousness

"Say." Catalina said slurping up her spaghetti

"I want you to be careful while going out. Take guards with you, always. There's been vampire and lycan sighting near the borders. We don't know what they want nor can we take direct action because they haven't caused us any harm yet." I informed her

"Okay." Catalina nodded as she meticulously murdered a meatball with her fork

I frowned at her response which was surely lacking. She had remained indifferent, making it difficult to understand whether she understood the seriousness of what I said or not.

"This is very serious. Don't go near woods at all, unless it's an emergency. If you run into either, they won't hesitate to rip you apart." I told her putting aside my now empty plate

"I understand." Came the response in the same insouciant tone

"Are you even listening? Don't you understand the seriousness of this?" I yelled infuriated by her lack of response and incapability of understanding the seriousness of the situation

"What do you expect me to say? I told you that I understood. Would you like me to write it down in a drawn up and signed contract so you understand that I get what you're trying to tell me? Or would like something poetic which tells you that I understood the dangers and will remain cautious? Huh?" Catalina retorted with sassy venom filling her voice

The only difference between us being that I raised my voice at her while she remained calm as she spoke to me.
