Chapter 7

Catalina's POV:

Things have been nothing but tense between Roscoe and I. We fought over something or the other with each other. It was like Moon Goddess was purposefully trying to mix water and oil, yet it was failing.

"Hey bestie, what's got you in a sour mood?" Harmony said sliding into the seat near me

"Your fucking Alpha." I spat

"Now, what did he do?" Harmony asked amused

"It's fucking burning and he wants me to cover up." I replied stabbing my last pancake

"You don't seem covered up." Harmony eyed my outfit

"I'm not going let him have his way. I can understand when we meet in the middle but he just wants me to always listen to him. He wants me to do everything he wants, never even willing to listen to me. What kind of a mate is that? He has tried to use alpha command on me at least five times now. Avalon on the other hand is an angel, I have seen a wolf so understanding, so nice, so patient and just so amazing overall. He actually listens, he is always willing for us to find a middle ground and he is never anything but lovely to be around. The only reason that I'm even sticking around this long - especially after finding out just how unpleasant my mate is - is cause of Avalon, my wolf adores him but if Roscoe keeps being so unpleasant to be around then I don't think even Avalon can stop my wolf and I from leaving." I sighed

Celeste has also been on the spot about what to do. Avalon is so lovable that neither of us want to leave him but Roscoe is the exact opposite that has us wondering what Moon Goddess was thinking pairing us with him. Better yet, what she was thinking, pairing such a lovely wolf with such an unlikable human. Either I leave or everyone will come here. It's been really long; patience is not truly their virtue.

"Luna, you need to hurry already if you wish to go out." Alaric said rolling his eyes

"Which pair of shoes? Black or blue?" I said holding up the two

"Blue." Alaric replied without bothering to even spare them a glance

I put on the blue ones and tossed the black ones somewhere in the room. Eh? I'll keep it back later. Alaric and I decided to walk this time. He pointed various parts of the pack or houses of different members that I might end up seeing regularly. Everyone was staring at me, it was okay at first now it was getting unnerving, still I walked with my head held high. We stopped at a quaint little café for some coffee and snacks. I didn't hesitate ordering a bunch of it; chocolate croissants, chocolate éclairs, strawberry macarons, a couple slices of chocolate cake and about a pound worth chocolate truffle. I ordered a chocolate mocha frappé and a latte for later. Alaric just got a black coffee. He has absolutely no taste.

When everything arrived, my mouth watered. Oh love, such amazing delicacies. I sipped my drink in midst of my eating. Apart from the macarons everything was amazing. I frowned; the macaroons weren't made the right way. These were the most basic ones and even they didn't taste okay.

"What's wrong?" Alaric asked

"Who made these macarons? I would like to know how one can mess up even the most basic ones." I huffed

Alaric took a bite out of it and didn't seem to find any faults. Guys! I swear!

"Seems alright to me." Alaric shrugged

"These are made all wrong! The jam is not right consistency, sugar is too much and the meringues were not even properly cooked, the ruffled edges of it looked horrifying." I rolled my eyes pointing out every mistake

"You talk as though you know how to make them." Alaric raised an eyebrow

"When you get abused every day, you've got to learn things to survive. I learnt to cook when I was in my father's pack so that I wouldn't starve. After my brothers and sister came into my life, I learnt how to cook and bake, it was relaxing. I enjoyed baking cause my siblings have a real sweet tooth, though I have to always cook in a way to accommodate their diets. They have been searching for me and would come here soon if, I don't go to them. They need to know I'm safe and they won't hesitate to tear down the world to know that." I smiled towards the end remembering the fond memories

"Something we should be worried about?" Alaric asked worry seeping into his eyes

"Not really, unless you keep me from them. They won't perceive you as enemies until you give them a reason to, they highly protective of me. Keeping me from them would instantly account to you being guilty of kidnapping me and keeping me against my will." I explained

"But you can tell them the truth." Alaric was getting more worried by the minute

"I never get in their way of warpath. If you don't let me, see them then you kind of are keeping me against my will and preventing me from seeing them." I shrugged

"What about Roscoe?" Alaric asked

"He may be my mate but he is nothing like a mate. I understand that every person is different and they have their own issues but your Alpha is annoying to the next level. He's been really unpleasant ever since I healed. I haven't decided anything yet, Avalon is amazing though." I answered

Suddenly, Alaric's eyes glossed over and he was staring into some random space. Looks like someone is mind linking him, who could that be? I sipped the last bit of my latte and waited for him to be done. He was done within a couple minutes and appeared frantic.

"Stay here and don't leave. There's a situation." Alaric said frantically

"What situation?" I asked calmly

I hope it's nothing too bad. Hopefully, Roscoe and Avalon are okay.

"There's vampires on the border, asking for permission to enter. We don't know what they want but we can't let them enter either. This could be a trick but we can't attack them cause they haven't done anything yet. Just please stay here and don't leave." Alaric said getting up and pacing, he sounded desperate

I nodded to let him know I understood. He left after that. Ah, so they've arrived it would seem. I can't wait. I ordered a chocolate mocha frappé to go. I was getting up to leave after I got my order when the woman working tried to stop me.

"Miss, you can't leave. Beta has given you clear commands." She said

"That my dear is none of your business. You'll soon find out that my command can even override your Alpha's, so move." I said nicely with a little strain to my voice

"Be that as it may but you can't leave." She said blocking my path, I read her surface thoughts and I could tell that she didn't believe a word of what I just said

"I was being nice but I suppose since, you chose to do it the hard way then I have no choice left." I said in a sickly-sweet tone

My eyes glossed over for a moment and then turned a deep red. I looked in her eye and pressed my will onto hers, squashing her weak will.

"Forget. Forget that you saw me, forget everything that happened, forget that we've even been here. You were working behind the till; a customer has just left. Now, go and clean the tables and return to your job." I commanded

"I'll go clean the tables then return to my job." She repeated robotically

I smiled and left. My eyes glossed over again and then turned back to normal. As normal as it can be, these fake eye colours were harder to accomplish. I would love to have my real eye colour but it's not that easy, is it? I suppose, it will be after today. I sensed the vampires towards the east border. Leisurely sipping on my chocolate mocha frappé, I made my way to them. I reached just in time to see my stupid mate threaten my brother's second-in-command.

"Leave now or we won't hesitate to attack and rip you from limb to limb. We will rip your hearts out if you don't leave right this instant. We don't know what you want and we are not inviting you in." Roscoe growled

He's truly stupid. I looked up at the sky as though asking the moon goddess, why she gave me this stupid mate.

"I, Catalina Caressa Marisol Ziva, invite you in the pack lands on the condition that you cause no harm to any of the residents." I chanted

Roscoe's head whipped towards me so hard that I was scared that it would severe from his body. Everyone around me stared at me in disbelief. Everyone except the vampires of course. With the invitation given, the first vampire set his foot in, accepting the said condition.

The very vampire that Roscoe was threatening saw me, he squinted his eyes at me before realisation and recognition passed through them. Without giving anyone a chance to respond, he spend towards me, lifted me and was spinning me causing me to giggle. The delight and affection in his eyes made my heart swell. He placed me back on his feet and hugged me tight. Seeing this, the similar realisation and recognition, passed through the vampires and they rushed to hug me. Glad that they've finally found me. Halfway through this, a loud growl resounded around us, causing us to freeze for a moment. Of course, it was my idiot mate. He looked furious and his wolf seemed to be fighting for control.

"I dare you to harm even one of them. If you even hurt a hair on their head, know that you will no longer have a mate and your pack won't have me for Luna." I warned before he could do anything
