Chapter 29

Jenna's POV

I turned and observed his face puckered in fake pain. Before I said a word, he continued, "I loved you so much, Jenna. But you ruined our lives for a cab driver. Where is he now? Does he know you have his son?"

"Oh, yes, I forgot about your bastård! How is he?" Sasha's remark pulled my lips thin.

"If you love your life, never say that again." I warned as Jace's delicious scent flared in my nostrils. He was here on the field.

I had to end this, lest he will end them all for dragging our son into this.

"Or what? Will you harm us?" A Luna raised an eye.

Another turned me by my elbow and snapped, "You were always this arrogant, Jenna. Look where it made you end up— you have nothing. And you're raising a bastård child alone. Tch, Tch. I pity you."

"Although I would pay to watch you struggle, I'm still a better human. You looked down on me and other Lunas, Jenna. But we'll still be kind to you." A Luna behind me stated. Then she made everyone contribute money.

Let me be honest, they purposely fetched a smaller note from their purses. A single dollar or ten, though they flexed the hundred dollar bills first.

"Here, keep this. I'm sure this can help you buy new clothes for your baby." He slapped the money in my palm.

Chris was enjoying this all too much. That somehow hurt the worst because I was once in love with this jerk.

"Don't feel too bad about your life, Jenna. Perhaps if you grovel at Chris' feet, we might hire you for some work in the pack." I wanted to snap at Sasha for saying that. I just smiled tight-lipped instead.

"You can do dishes in my kitchen." A Luna offered.

"And change my daughter's diapers! I'm sure you're quite accustomed to that." Another made them all laugh.

"Sshh, everyone! Be quiet. I didn't come here to make her feel small." Chris said aloud.

Trying to be a good man now? Huh. What a hypocrite. I scoffed as I bit the inside of my cheek.

"Jenna," He lifted his eyes, dancing with fake sorrow and pity. "I never meant for you to end up like this. But if you ever need help for your son, you can contact me. Whether it is baby Formula, his clothes or diapers, or hospital bills... You can let me know."

He shrugged sadly with a chuckle, "I don't know where it went wrong, but I want you to know that I'll be there for you. Even if you didn't consider me enough for you, I'll be there."

Then he grabbed Sasha's arm and began to depart, not before saying, "I'll leave you alone now. I don't want you to feel like I came here to mock you or something. I would never do that because we once shared a life together."

'Fúck you, bítch. If I ever see you again, I'm going to burn you alive. Got it? You better not show me your face again!'

I smiled tightly as Chris' voice sounded in my mind over the mind link.

They all scattered around. I also began to turn to my work when, 'Luna Queen Jenna, to our car right now!'

Jace's wrathful voice reverberated through me after I heard it on the link.

I quietly followed, of course after making sure none of them, who came here to humiliate me, was watching me, especially Chris and his whóre. Then I silently disappeared from there. I walked out on the street and then picked up speed to go to Jace's car.

Thank goddess that there were guards stationed around his car. That made me worry less. He had already settled inside. I slowed down in my tracks and tried to adjust my hair. I hope I'm not looking very bad.

When I opened the door to the passenger seat, Jace's hot fingers wrapped around my wrist. He yanked me in on his lap and slammed the door shut. Fury was igniting off him in waves. I kept quiet because I knew he would explode if I said anything in my defense.

But when he began to lift the sleeve of my arm Chris had grabbed at the elbow, I started to sweat. I knew there were his finger marks. He had mercilessly clutched my hand. If Jace sees it... Damn, I can't imagine it.

"Jace, I'm fine." I caught the sleeve stubbornly.

"Let go, Jenna."

"It's fine, Jace. Trust me there is nothing—"

"Jenna!" He gave me a sharp look and I let go.

Jace lifted the sleeve to reveal my elbow area. It was inflamed and red.

"It took everything in me not to jump there and break open his skull. I even bit myself to tame my anger." My mouth hung open at his words. I rapidly searched his hands and saw his bite mark on the back of his hand right above his thumb joint.

"Oh, Jace..." My eyes filled with tears.

He wiped my cheeks with his thumb before kissing my forehead, "The only reason why I stopped is because I want to see you kicking his àss."

A sob broke loose as I threw my arms around his neck. I cried like a baby as my Ex's words returned to my mind.

He doesn't matter to me, nor does his words. But a part of me— the part that once loved him— was still very sensitive. It's just been six months since our separation. I gave him more than two years of my life. I let my life revolve around him.

Though he doesn't matter, we shared a life together. For the sake of that, he should've been less cruel. He wasn't. In fact, he did more.

"I will really kick his àss, you'll see." I mumbled against Jace's skin.

Being in his arms really did wonders. My tears disappeared within five minutes and my heart felt lighter. I kissed his neck as he stroked all of my little back with his huge hands.

When I parted, he gave me a warm smile, "I'm proud of you. Now go and do what you came here to do."

"Henry is in the pack. He came to meet his daughter. He's probably at her home. Take advantage of the moment, Jenna. Go and tell Kalen about him." Nodding, I stole a kiss of his lips as my energy.

Then I stepped out. I walked leisurely till where the guards were standing. After that I became alert. I came back to the field and lifted my tools to start working again..

Chris and the mean Lunas were gone. Given Jace was out of the meeting too, I think the treaty was signed and they all departed.

'Kalen is coming your way, Jenna.' My wolf informed me.

I quickly bent over the soil to pretend to be working when I saw him stop behind me.

"Gianna," Kalen called out in a gentle tone.

"Yes, sir." I spun around to face him, and felt my nerves squeeze. Kalen was looking at me pitifully.

Chapter 30

Jenna's POV

Kalen was looking at me pitifully. Yet it was so warm and light, I almost felt like leaving him alone. I came here two days ago as one of the workers brought by Alpha King to learn the new farming techniques. Whatever time I spent with him, it has taught me one thing— Kalen was a good man.

Thus, it would hurt like a second-degree burn if he found out what his teenage daughter was up to.

Sure, teenagers are going wild these days. They are doing controversial things. But as a father, it would wrench Kalen's soul to know she's been involved with a man her grandfather's age. What's worse is that he's indeed her step-grandfather.

"Is there anything I can help you with, sir?" I asked in a soft voice as I made my mind.

Not today. I won't break his heart today.

"I heard the other workers talking about what happened... And about who you used to be." I was made to bite my lip as it sounded really very embarrassing.

Who you used to be– such a simple phrase, yet it carried a deep meaning.

Although my mind compelled me to ponder over it, I forced a smile as there was no need to pretend. My old identity was out in front of him

"And what does that make you think about me? Do you also think I cheated?"

"No," he pinned me with a look that made my fingers twitch. It was warm and devoid of judgment.

"No? You don't judge me?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Luna Jenna," he went on his knees in respect as he held my hands.

"M-mr. Kalen–"

"I really wanted to meet you once in my Life, Luna. You have no idea what you have done for me. You don't even remember it because some people don't remember the good they've done to others because they do it so often."

I was amazed and blank. The way he was talking and holding my hands, it was as if he had some kind of weight on his shoulders for a long time for something I did.

"Mr. Kalen, please get up."

"No, Luna. This is where I belong to thank you. You saved my world from crumbling a year ago."

"I... I don't know what you mean, Mr. Kalen." I said as I watched his teary face.

A smile shone through as he squeezed my hands, "You don't remember it, Luna. Let me help you recall it— a year ago, you saved a bunch of girls from getting shipped abroad for prostitution."

That made it click and I stared at him, "Was your daughter one of them?"

"My brother's daughter, Kayla. She became my responsibility after he passed away. I never considered her any less than my own daughter. She was kidnapped from her work place in another pack. But you saved her with other girls, Luna. You also talked to her." His eyes glistened with tears of gratitude.

"I do remember Kayla. She was a lovely girl. She was the only one who fought for herself and helped us save all of them. Oh goddess, I had no idea you were related to her, Mr. Kalen." I finally made her stand.

I managed to convince him to move away from the field. The sun was getting down on us brutally, and my clothes were drenched with tears. I'm used to this kind of heat, but today it was making my face burn. Suntan on my skin takes way too long to go.

"How is Kayla now?" I inquired as we sat in an air-conditioned shop, with our glasses of juices.

"She got married four months ago, Luna. Her mate is an Alpha." My eyes jumped in amazement.

"Wow! That's amazing. I hope he's good."

"He's a gem. Not an Alpha of a very big pack, but they have harmony and their lands are very peaceful. Kayla is very pleased with her life." I smiled wider in response.

I met her last year when I was saving a group of twenty girls from being sold away by a rogue team of traffickers. They have taken five girls from my pack, and one of them was the daughter of our army's commander. I got injured while saving them, but it was worth it.

That's when Kayla came forward, making herself stand out amongst the others and be the only one I remembered from all those girls. She was a doctor, only twenty-two but a commendable person. I wished to meet her again. Alas, my own life was a mess and I was going back and forth with Chris, arguing over the possibility of getting pregnant.

It was after the rescue mission of those girls that Chris and I started fighting.

"Doesn't matter if his pack is not big. Good character and loyalty matters the most, sir." My smile faded as I recalled my own life. "Look at me, I thought I'm the most fortunate woman in the world to have married the Alpha of a big pack. My life now, though, is not that good."

I winced at my last statement. It was a lie, but important right now. No one knew what happened to me after Chris left me. Hence, I kept the charade on.

"I am so sorry, Luna. I had come to the pack to invite you to Kayla's wedding four months ago. They said you ran away with your cab driver lover." He drowned distastefully. "We heard many other stories but we never believed them. Kayla was certain someone deliberately did it to ruin your reputation."

"That's right, my ex-husband and his pack's senior doctor did it."

"You mean Doctor Henry?"

I nodded, "He's a monster. An ugly monster with a double face."

"Are you sure you're talking about Doctor Henry? I heard he's a good man and—"

"Good man?" I scoffed, cutting him. I think I shouldn't delay it. Jace told me Henry is in the NightShade Pack. He came with Chris to come and meet his daughter. This is the perfect chance. "I was the Luna of his pack, Mr. Kalen. I know them all like the back of my hand."

"But my wife—"

"Henry held a grudge against me." I interrupted him again as he was going to disclose what I already know— his wife being Henry's daughter. "During my first month as the Luna after marriage, I caught him doing illegal stuff and got him punished. That's why he manipulated Chris against me and instigated him to leave me for his first love."

"That's insane. What about your son? How can you leave him?"

"My son is not his." The disclosure made him place the glass down and stare at me gravely. "I mean to say, he's not the biological father of my son. I had an IVF using a donor's sperm."

Color drained from his face. I can see the questions in his eyes.

"Let's not talk about us, it's in the past. My son and I are happy with our current life. He's six months old and he's learning to crawl. As for doctor Henry," My hands on the table turned white as I clenched them hard. "He's destroying some innocent girl's life."

Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled. She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug

Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it

Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first. He was

Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil. All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest. My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team

Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
