Chapter 46

Jace's POV

I let out a loud shout as I pulled my hair.

I don't really understand what Jenna's problem is. One day she's all chirpy and happy. Then another day she's just fighting with me over Liza.

This hasn't happened in the last two months. I can't describe how happy I had been about it. I thought she had learned to co-exist with Liza.

I agree it's not easy for her, but it should only worry her if Liza is doing something wrong. She hasn't. Since her last punishment to A****n, she's never done anything bad.

Still, Jenna has a problem with her.

She suddenly gets these episodes of insecurities, which are hard to deal with.

I get that it could be that grudge a wife has with her husband's mistress, but Liza is not even that. She hasn't been ever since I married. I'm loyal. And I will be loyal until my last breath.

Why is it so difficult to understand that?

Anger was still throbbing in my veins when I laid down on bed next to Jared. Seeing him some of my tension dissipated. I observed his sleeping figure quietly. Jared has grown a lot. He looks like a two year old but he's only eight months along now.

He's begun to speak too, which is the best thing lately. I come home to him crawling towards me while calling me 'Dadda' every evening. I trailed my fingers on his head and combed his hair. He's beginning to look a lot more like me now. I am certain when he grows up, he'll take my exact face too.

Minutes passed as I laid there admiring my son. Then it became an hour. There was still no sign of Jenna. I didn't try to go look for her either.

When two hours passed, my wolf began to butt in.

'You should go and find her, Jace. It's not a small matter. It's hurting her.' Denis said.

'But I've done nothing wrong. Neither had Liza. So why should I go to look for her?'

I closed my eyes. I didn't know when sleep consumed me, when I woke up, the sky outside was dark.

How long have I been sleeping? I cast a look at the clock and my eyes enlarged. I was out for more than seven hours. I looked beside me— Jared was gone. There was a very faint smell of Jenna's scent.

So she came to our room to take our son.

The sleep had helped me set my mood right. What I was unable to see earlier, I could see it now. Jenna was just scared, and by arguing with her and by not going to her as Denis wanted, I might have hurt her.

Not wanting to think that I don't care about her feelings, I got up and washed my face. I came out in search of Jenna. I asked the maids about her, and they told me they had no idea. One of them said the last time she saw her was five hours ago.

My heart suddenly lurched— She didn't leave while I was sleeping, did she?

Fear crept over me. I hastily roamed through corridors, looking for her. I grabbed male servants by the collar to ask if they saw my wife anywhere. Their answer was the same— a few hours ago.

I stopped in a corridor while gazing out at the quiet gardens. Where could she have gone? My body was weirdly throbbing and the fact that she had blocked me out from reaching out to her through the mind link made it worse.

'Use your phone.' Denis suggested.

Oh, yeah. Why didn't I call her earlier? Grabbing my phone from my pocket, I dialled her number. I tried four times and the call wasn't ever picked. The fifth time, she picked up on the third ring.

"What do you want?" Jenna's cold voice came.

"Where are you?"

"Why does it matter? You didn't seem to care for all these hours. Why now?" Remorse stung me like a snake.

Shït, I really fůcked up by not going to her. I should've listened to my wolf.

'You didn't. Now bear the consequences.' He snapped as I wondered what to tell her.

"I... I fell asleep, love. Otherwise I was going to come for you."

"Exactly, you fell asleep." She snickered in anger. "Like what happened between us was not important!"

"Hey, don't be angry. Tell me, where are you?"

"If you really cared for me and remembered that I'm your Luna Queen, you would've checked my study room first rather than running through all the other rooms and corridors." I bit my tongue.

Damn, how could I forget that? Of course she'd be in her study if she's not anywhere else.

"I'm coming to—" She disconnected the call, leaving my words left hanging incomplete.

She's really mad. I need to do something.

I mind-linked a soldier to get me a bouquet of flowers ASAP. As I waited for it, I prepared my explanation and sorry speech.

"Alpha King, here are your flowers. Scented roses." The soldier forwarded a huge bouquet.

My lips lifted in satisfaction, "Good."

I took them and headed towards Jenna's study. I was looking straight but I was not focusing.

Crash!

I heard a loud wince. When I looked down, Liza was lying on the floor, rubbing her head.

"Heavens! Are you okay, Liza?" I sought after pulling her up.

"I'm fine, Jace. Where is your focus, though? Good, it was me. Imagine if it was an omega servant! They would've been seriously injured."

"Sorry, Liza. I was just thinking about what I'm going to tell my wife." I instantly regretted saying that to her. It's my personal matter after all.

"Luna Jenna is still angry?" Her face fell. "I'm sorry, Jace. It's because of me. Luna doesn't like me. Since I forced you to come with me, she's starting to suspect you again."

Her lips trembled as she looked down.

"Hey, it's not your fault." I pulled her head against my chest as I held the flowers away from her.

Ever since I executed Sasha and her husband, Liza has been severely freaked out. She's never tried doing anything with me. That shows she's learned her lesson and heeded my warning. I just don't know how to make Jenna see this.

"But it happened because of me, didn't it? I was scared, Jace. Since you always accompanied me, I wanted you to come this time as well." She lifted her head from my chest. "Should I explain everything to her?"

"It's okay. I'll handle it." If she goes to Jenna, her doubt will intensify. She'll think there's definitely something between Liza and me.

"I'll take your leave, Liza. I need to appease my angry Luna."

"Best of luck. Give her some passionate kisses too. That always works."

"Right." I chortled and walked away.

See, this new Liza is the cousin I'm protecting and keeping in my house with me. She's cute and innocent. I hope I can make Jenna see this too.

Anyway, I ran a hand through my hair before I knocked on the door. Jenna didn't reply, but our son responded with a noisy squeal. I took that as my cue to go in.

"Hey, baby." I flashed my sexiest smile to work my charm on her.

"You met her before coming here, Jace?" To my shock, she bellowed like a mad witch.

I was taken aback.

"Jenna, we bumped with each other in the corridor. I hadn't met her before."

However, tears streamed down her eyes. My mouth hung open because all her face was pallid and her eyes swollen, indicating she had been crying all this time.

"Her scent is all over you, but not on the flower! You both... You both hugged, right? You were in each other's arms."

I immediately declined with my head. But I didn't get to explain anything because next, she came to me and pushed me back harshly.

"Asshøle, you're my baby's father. How can you make out with your mistress behind my back!"

Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled. She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug

Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it

Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first. He was

Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil. All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest. My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team

Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
