Part 2 | Stranger

After the man escaped the commander returned to the scene of the crime, she had an expression of disappointment on her face.

- What did they get? - She meant clues, evidence and anything that could lead her straight to the culprits.

- Apparently, it was a revenge of the drug traffickers. It seems that the husband of the victim handed over the boss of the business in jail, and who suffered the consequences, was the poor wife, Andy. - A colleague of the police officer explained the case.

- Oh that’s great. - Petter says in a dismal sigh. - We’re dealing with female killers. I want this boss in my hand. - She said with cold eyes, as if she were a ferocious animal ready to attack.

- Understood. Oh, just one more thing. We found this. - The man delivers a plastic package to the woman, and inside the package there was a cell phone.

- I’ll send it to forensics tomorrow. That’ll be useful. - The woman turns her back and enters the police car.

While the case was being analyzed and the professionals involved in the development and undoing of the murder were trying to piece together the puzzle. John was also busy looking for a safe place to shelter. The man could not return home, for they could be watching, he did not know how far the police had already discovered, but he knew that either way, sooner or later, they would come to him.

During the night John had several nightmares with Andy, and the crime scene. He was trapped in all that terror. The man blamed himself for letting that happen, and for hours began to think of a way to unravel that mystery, he promised himself that he would find out who killed Andy, and the only way to do that was to join the person who wanted to rip his head off, to Commander Petter.

At dawn the man completely changed his look and turned into a new man, he changed his hair, the way of dressing, walking, talking, and now the blond man had turned into a redhead of green eyes, he managed to become strangely more attractive than before. But his head manages the same goals, get closer to Petter, do justice for Andy, and use the police information to get protection and gather evidence to prove his innocence.

The redhead man went to the bank and withdrew a sufficient amount to rent a hotel room, he needed to keep his identity to the letter, because now he was no longer a big businessman, but a police officer, as it was written on your forged documents.

It was all right, it was impossible for him to stay on the front lines of a police investigation. After the sky of Puerto Vallarta began to darken the redhead left the streets, returned to the village where the crime of the previous night had occurred and there was the Commander doing the last works on the site. As soon as the man spotted Petter, he went towards her and immediately took the forged document out of his pocket.

- Here happened Andy’s killer? -He raised his professional ID up high.

- Who are you ? Petter asked curious.

- I’m John. I’m a police officer from Cancún, I was sent to help in this case. - he explained.

- Funny, I did not ask for help, and I did not receive a communication from other authorities informing that they would send you here. - She approaches the man, tearing the paper from his hands and faces him before starting to read the document.

- Commander, have you been reading your last e-mails? - John asks right, causing Petter to rethink the last e-mail she had read a week ago, and so he rips the document out of the woman’s hands, keeping the paper in his pocket. - That’s what I thought. - Concluded.

Petter was wary of letting him meddle in a case she was running, but since the only information she had was not enough to find a culprit, all help was welcome. After long hours working and examining every corner of the alley, the Commander was exhausted, emotionally and physically, John realizing the exhausting situation, dared to speak to the brunette.

- You are hours here working tirelessly, let’s stop a little? -Suggested.

- Sr. Martinez, I’m looking at the possible biggest case of my life, and I don’t have a fucking clue that leads me to these fucking killers. Do you really think I want to stop? - She said angrily.

- Commander, the truth is you’re the best cop in Poerto Vallarta. You don’t lose a case, this certainly won’t go blank for you. But honestly I think that in the state you are in, shaken, tired, you will not be able to find what you are looking for. You need to give your head a break.

- And what does the wise guy suggest? A wine? A night of drunkenness? - Said ironic.

- Maybe it’s not a bad idea. And then, Commander Petter, would you take a drink with the smart guy here?

After much reluctance the brunette surrenders and accepts the invitation of the man. Andy’s case was sucking the cop’s soul and she really needed a break, forget everything, and focus on a time to relax a little. The two gave up on continuing the investigation work in the alley and went to a bar on the outskirts of where they were working.

- Would you like some wine? - Yes, Martinez.

- Right. - Agreed.

- And then, what do you already have about the case? - He asked while filling the woman’s glass.

- We’re looking at the possibility of it being a vendetta by the drug kingpin. But so far nothing proves that theory. - Explains the woman passing her hands on her forehead in agony.

- By the brutality of the facts, we are certainly facing mafioso faces. No one would shoot five times for fun. - He spoke.

- How do you know it was five shots? - Asked confused.

- I saw in the documents before leaving Cancún. - He made a good excuse.

The night passed slowly, while the two took several glasses of wine, laughed, danced, talked about random subjects of their lives. The night has become something light and fun for both. Andy’s case was forgotten and ceased to be something important for a moment, the only thing that mattered was the connection that was being born between Petter and John.
