Testing, testing.

Bright green with somewhat white layout, a flat reflecting screen. And a man talking towards a screen with sweat on his face, in an air conditioning environment.

He advertised the shop's wares with so much intensity. Even the consumer would develop an affection.

Again and again and again, he tried his gift of tongue to make deals with potential customers, after making his departure known, he left his job. He entered a library styled Public House.

The Sun's rays were yet to hide when he entered the Grand Library. He met his friends, the old books, the faint lights and liquid capsule.

Allen later parted with his friends and glanced at the counter

"Thank you. With Acoustic protection, it's slightly better"

As usual the librarian didn't understand and just gave a puzzled laugh.

The cushion made a person forget the environment but still, he had to go, after one last look.

Afterwards, he entered the house by slipping an Identification card and entered a lit room in which the source of dim light was the moonlight seeping through the gaps in the curtains.

He passed by a bedroom in the house and saw his sister sleeping with her head on the table. He returned her to bed and continued upstairs to prepare. For a grueling test.

He passed or failed, he would not have to worry about their expenses.

It did not require specific certificates beforehand. That was enough.

If he failed the test, it would leave him with no better choice than to take financial support from the Government which he didn't want to.

Government providing financial support to anyone who wants, it is because they have nowhere else to spend the resources nowadays. For various reasons World population has decreased and resources are plentiful.

Most people can get by themselves. Less than 1% of people might need financial support. Of which only 0.1% will accept it and others will do odd jobs.

If he took the deal of the Government, their current living conditions would improve for the better. But the goal he had in his mind would no longer be achievable.

So  despite some difficulties he continued to do some jobs for their living expenses.

At midnight Allen was still full of energy and he felt that even if he didn't sleep, he would be fine. But so that his health may not worsen, he still went to sleep.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Allen woke up early in the morning and was a little drowsy.  A short bath, some water in mouth, some in nose and some in ears to clean.

Today was the day of the test for him. The institution normally only admitted 5 to 10 people from more than hundreds of thousands of applicants. These last few years were an exception including a quota of over 50 people .

However, many applicants perhaps paced around even more anxiously because of this. Fear of losing had invaded their faces and hearts.

Allen had confidence that he would pass the test and maybe this stemmed from hard work not from arrogance.

He believed himself to be smart and coupled with hard work, failing was a possibility only if he had offended the judge by harassing his daughter, her Honor.

Allen took a bath, put some new clothes on his body, checked himself in the mirror and made some poses to erase his nervousness, after all if fate thought him unfit, nothing he could do. This determines his family's living conditions.

He had submitted his request to quit his job a week ago and was, along with them till they found a substitute or replacement for him which they did find. The week-long requirement was not in the contract.

Though the boss of the Millennia Link Center insisted that he not quit, he still had to do the compulsory Government job,

Manager of the Center wanted to keep him because he found his work attitude excellent. And he gave his best wishes in the end.

The distance from his house to downtown was not small but he had gotten accustomed to it after a few months.

He arrived at the test site. The test site was also owned by the institution. He had arrived earlier due to the guidelines stated.

Allen arrived at the site and was not very surprised to see that a large number of applicants had already arrived. They might have been nervous or worried about the test. There were only a small portion of the total applicants in this section. The test will start at 9:00 am while it is just a little above 8:30. There are many aged also, one of them might lose it if I take a position?

Soon the test began as the examiners arrived. There were a total of five of them. The head examiner seemed like a strict person with an unfriendly face. Some regulations and that's it.

The test was quite different from the previous examinations. Different in its nature. There were too many strange questions in the test. An example would be,

"When was the first hydrogen bomb invented". So easy. What was the answer again?

"Is it in fact an aptitude test instead of Biology? "Allen was visibly a little irritated after the test.

Anyway he did pass. His intuition told so.
