Chapter Eleven
Kristi couldn't stand by any longer, not only was she desperate to talk to Rori about how much of a worthless shithead her brother was, she also wanted to talk to her about what the hell she was doing with Murdok halfway down her throat. Kristi’s mind began to race, “did he push himself on her? Should she go in and check on her,” she thought. Max tried to keep Kristi occupied, reassuring her he could hear if there was trouble, and that he heard Murdok leave not too long after they had, anyway, so she needed to relax. Unable to take his advice and remain any longer, Kristi knocked, but Rori didn't answer, so she opened the door. “RO,” she called out, “sweetie... it's Kristi, can I come in?” Kristi could taste the moisture from the water in the air and headed straight for the bathroom. Kristi made a mad dash for the tub as she saw only the tuft of Rori’s messy bun sticking above the flood. Sliding to the floor Kristi grabbed Rori, shaking her by the shoulders while screaming her name

Chapter Twelve
The rest of the morning was routine. Rori dressed and made her way down to her classes. Most of what they would do today would review the year before and discussing details for finals at the end of the semester, along with graduation. Rori’s attention kept tuning in and out no matter what class she was in, and no matter what they talked about she could not seem to keep her mind from wandering to the delicious man she left her shoes with, or the honey gold eyes that captivated her dreams and had her wanting to go back for more. Rori tried to ground her thoughts and looked down at her open notebook, embarrassed. She had written a very large letter M and had outlined it so many times an impression had traced into the pages beneath it. She slammed the journal closed and stuffed it into her bag as the professor dismissed class for the day. Rori headed out of the school and into

Chapter 13
Rori leaned against the door and took a long breath. On one hand she was glad Murdok had brought her upstairs but on the other hand Rori knew she would have to deal with Kristi sooner or later. Dreading the interaction she realized she would once again have with her friend over the disapproval of her choice in man candy, Rori decided she needed to let go of herself and since she was alone for now, she knew exactly how to relax her nerves. Dashing to her bedroom, she dove into her makeup bag and plucked out a silver cigarette case. Rori ran out onto the patio, sitting down on the ground, and waited as the sunlight started to sink behind the horizon. She popped her case open and picked out a slender white pre rolled paper and the lighter she kept with it. Rori lit the joint and inhaled, waiting to wash her worries away as she watched the sun disappear completely. “good night

Chapter Fourteen
Kristi decided on a white bodysuit with a sheer pink body stocking that Rori wore over the top, followed by a pair of delicate white open toe thin strap heels. Her makeup was simple, shimmer pink eyeshadow and a little mascara was all they put on her before Kristi ran to her room to change. Soon Rori met Kristi and Max in the hall, Kristi was wearing a deep blue satin dress that stopped mid-thigh. It had spaghetti straps and a plunging neckline. Max looked almost normal. He adorned a murky blue t-shirt and tight blue jeans; they weren't skinny jeans, but Max was a muscular man, and it showed in everything he wore. Max offered Rori his free arm as Kristi clasped the other, and Rori looked at Max with an arched eyebrow. “Please Ms. Rori, allow me the honor of escorting not just one but both of the most beautiful ladies on campus to this tree hugger dance off.” Rori laughed s

Chapter Fifteen
Rori blinked rapidly until things came into focus but what she saw was not the moss covered uneven ground of the wilderness but smooth gray stone beneath her, suddenly and without warning she felt violently ill and proceeded to vomit all over the floor. Kristi was soon at Rori’s side, and she noticed that her friend looked absolutely petrified by fear and was dripping with sweat. She also had small red droplets all over her face. “Kris,” Rori groaned, “I guess I drank too much, let's just go home.”  Rori tried to stand up but fell back to her knees as pain shot from her ankle all the way up her leg. Rori reached down and slid off her heels before grasping the front of her head as even more pain ripped through her temples.    “Kris I think someone put something weird in the drinks tonight,” Rori’s voice was horse and crackling as she tried to s

Chapter sixteen
Rori was terrified Kristi was not making any sense at all, she understood her words, but she could not piece them together, “what did she mean this was all real?” Kristi smashed her forehead against Rori’s and began to cry almost uncontrollably, Rori grabbed Kristi’s wrists and tried to pull them away, but Kristi wouldn't let go. “Please... RO I’m so, so, sorry.” Rori pulled her wrists away from her face and noticed that Kristi’s eyes still had a light purple glow to them as she cried. “Kris, what's going on?” was the only thing Rori could squeak out. Her mind was running on overload, she couldn't understand what was going on at all.  Before Kristi could answer Rori she glanced behind her with wide eyes, then grabbed Rori by the shoulders, pulling her into a tight hug. “Listen Ro, I’m gonna get my dad. I promise I will help you, please just do what they say, an

Chapter Seventeen
The volcano pushed her forward with his staff, and Rori stumbled into the center of the courtyard, falling down next to a pile of what looked like firewood with a large pole in the middle. Rori did not move. She seemed frozen with uncertainty. Her mind was still numb from the amount of information trying to be shoved into it. Then she felt a familiar set of arms, and she peered up to see Kristi and Mason pulling her to her feet.   Rori flung her arms around them both sobbing and Kristi hit her knees, “Oh my god, Kristi you, are ok,” Kristi was crying so hard Max had to pick her up off the ground, “what did they do to her Mace, why are you guys here, what is this place?” Rori asked and Mason looked at her with tears in his eyes, followed by an emotion she had never seen from him before, fear.

Murdok did not proceed to comfort Rori, but he also did not move to separate himself from her desperate grasp; he simply snaked his arm out of her grip before placing his hand at the small of her back, ushering her forward once more until she was again standing in front of Arthur, Ezekiel and the others. The yellow-eyed woman was pulling herself to her feet, snarling in Rori’s direction. She launched at Rori like a missile but all of a sudden, was caught in what looked like a giant bubble with her limbs frozen. “Release me witch,” the yellow-eyed woman screamed as Mina walked between her and Rori,“Ezekiel,” Mrs. Scopuli roared “you cannot seriously think you would get away with probing her, she's human, you know her mind could never handle that.”    Rori was shaking. She had never heard Mina talk that way. And what the hell was she doing to that wo

Chapter Nineteen
Rori felt the cold prick of The Hex’s nails against each of her temples and she inhaled sharply but did not move. She felt the almost sickening pump of calm rush through her, and she sighed almost sleepily. Rori felt a sharp pain pulse through her brain, then another followed by a a burst of color. The pain kept going first in long-drawn-out pulses then in shorter waves, each time more colors would burst and mold. As they moved, they began to form shapes and sounds, and soon Rori could make out people speaking. The shapes morphed into that of Rori’s Mother first, then another figure she really didn't recognize. He was yelling at Alma and Rori’s mom was standing with her head down and her back against a wall crying. The man began to punch the wall next to her before grabbing her wrist and twisting it until she cried out in pain. Rori groaned at the memory, “how coul
