“Crunch” Hearing a noise, I hesitate to open my eyes for fear of what I might find right in front of my face.  “Crunch” I hear it again and then force myself to deal with the situation by slowly opening my eyes and confronting them.  By now the light has all died out from the candles and lanterns, but there is finally moonlight that is cascading in through the window and I watch as the light dances off the ceiling.  As my eyes travel down the wall, they focus on something really small scurrying along the floorboards and then I realize that it is just a tiny mouse with a piece of bread in its mouth, hurrying off to its home in the wall. Hearing a loud conversation in the next room, I leave the comfort of the kitchen after grabbing a snack from the fridge, and stroll into where Dominic and another much older Alpha whom I forgot his name is sitting.  Remembering that I met him the second day I was here, doesn’t help to say the least because there were too many Alphas that I met that day and the next.  However, the minute I step in the room, they both glare at me and then Dominic speaks up and says, “Ah, Ana my dear.  We were just talking about you.”  Concerned immediately by this, I step back and start to leave before I hear something I shouldn’t have.  But then Dominic bolts up out of his seat and grabs my forearm before leading me to a seat and stating, “I had been wondering when you would get up.  It is past 1 in the afternoon.”  His eyes full of challenge today, stare me down before I dare speak.
