Chapter 31: Going Home
Once everything is packed, I find someone to take me.  Alpha Jamison so kindly volunteers, and then he drives me all the way home to my parent’s house.  When we arrive, the place looks deserted at first glance.  “Are you sure you want to stay here by yourself?” He asks me with an uncertain look about him, and then he disappears around the side of the house. Before I get to answer him, I hear something in the woods from behind me and I automatically turn around to face it.  I am not prepared for my mother to walk out of the woods and greet me.  Shaking my head, I’m relieved the moment I realize that it’s her and go to hug her.  When she walks up and wraps her arms around me, she asks, “Ana, what are you doing here?” With a surprised smile on her face. I sink into her warm embrace, because it’s the first time I have seen her in a while now.  Closing my eyes, I don’t say anything, because I am afraid of what she will think when

Chapter 32: When I Wake Up
I open my eyes to see that Dominic is gone again.  Feeling a little disappointed, I notice that I feel like a ton of bricks has hit me for some reason and my eyes are caked with sleep.  Then I start wondering if I am coming down with something, because just climbing out of bed fatigues me.When I step one foot on the cold floor, I shriek because it feels icy underneath my toes.  I run to the bathroom quickly and then as soon as I wash my hands, I rush back to bed and wait for Monique to come in.  Maybe she will bring me something to eat or have the doctor come to check on me.  Who knows?Laying down, I read one of my novels for a while till I hear someone at the door.  It opens quickly and makes a loud bang as it hits the wall, then Dominic walks inside.  “You missed breakfast, Ana.  Did you sleep in?”  He asks with a little worry in his voice.Hesitating for a moment, I think of something to say but chang

Chapter 33: What Surprise?
The moment I get out of the bathroom, I notice that Monique has left the room and Alpha Morrison is standing next to me with his hand on mine.  He is so attentive and yet there is something weird about him.  With platinum blonde hair and gorgeous green eyes that shine like emeralds, he is such a catch. Yet, he hasn’t mated with anyone and that is disturbing to me.  Why would an alpha who is so utterly pleasing to the eyes, not have anyone to come home to at night?  Even more intriguing is the fact that when he is in my presence, his eyes are always only on me.“My queen, you look absolutely exquisite today, if I don’t say so myself.” His eyes sparkle as his lip curls up into a Cheshire cat smile. When he does it, it looks sexy as hell.  The minute anyone else does, it looks like they are trying too much, and it looks fake somehow.  I remember once when Dominic did it, it looked forced and not genu

Chapter 34: It's What We Make Of It
As I sit in my room for the rest of the day, I relax and hope that he doesn’t try to talk to me.  He must decide, and if he doesn’t then I know what his answer is.  In the morning I will find out if she is gone or not, it’s all his choice.“Knock”I hear that one single knock and then nothing.  Standing up, I walk over to the door and wait for another, but it never comes.  So, I unlock the door and when I open it, I see Dominic standing there with this truly hurt look on his face.  The minute he notices that I am standing there, it turns to a smile and then his eyes light up. Just before he says something, I interrupt and ask, “Did you make up your mind or shall I pack my things?”  I know I sound like a bitch, but if I don’t do this, I won’t ever have peace. He closes the space between us and then cups my chin in his hand before he leans down.  Kissing me softly

Chapter 35: Does Everything Change?
For the rest of the night, we sit talking about everything from our pasts to what is coming up in the near future for the kingdom.  Then we fall asleep in each other’s arms.  However, when I wake up this morning, he is not there again.  Where could he be?“Knock”I hear a knock at the door, and then I look down and realize that I am still in my clothes from the day before.  At least I am not naked for once when people come in unannounced.  I despise that more than anything.“knock”“Alright.”  I say before climbing out of bed and rushing to the door. The floor is cold and when I touch the door handle, it causes me to flinch.  Because the brass handle is so cold that my fingers smart.  I rub them for a brief second before opening the door to find Monique standing there with a pot of hot coffee and some breakfast for me.“Oh.  Thank you so much.&

Chapter 36: To The Death
After Alpha Samuel interrupts us and Dominic hurries downstairs to the courtyard, I rush to change my clothes and wash up before rejoining the two of them.  Once I walk out into the courtyard, I hear the roaring of their cries and the crowd responding as one after the other they tear into each other.  But when I hear teeth gnashing bones, I cringe and try to get away from the scene at first.  Not wanting to be a willing spectator, I walk away and wait for the fighting to conclude.  However, while walking around the gardens, I still can hear the cries in the distance and the howls that ensue.  As I try to escape the horrific sounds, I decide that there is no place that I can hide.  So, I walk back to the crowd and watch as the two of them fight to the death. Alpha Joshua has a huge gash in his side that is bleeding all over the walkway.  The blood looks crimson in the sunlight and is thicker than I thought it would be.  While Al

Chapter 37: Why?
“Where were you this afternoon?” Dominic turns around to ask me softly.I stare up into his eyes and reply, “I was walking around in the gardens.  Honestly, I didn’t want to be by you right at that moment.”  My voice fades away as I stare into those gorgeous hazel eyes and feel myself start to melt. “Why?”  He sounds immediately concerned and cocks his head like he is trying to figure out the inner workings of my mind.Hesitating for a few seconds, I keep staring into his eyes until I feel like I am being pulled into them.  Then I feel his hand on my arm, as he grasps it gently.  “Are you alright?” He asks with a devilish grin on his handsome face. I can still see the scar from when the lich marked him.  Believe it or not, it only makes me more attracted to him, because now he isn’t absolutely flawless.  As I think back to that moment, a chill runs d

Chapter 38: Where Did He Go?
After it takes me an hour and a half to get back, I look everywhere.  No one is here.  When I realize this, I decide to wait for a couple hours to see if he shows up on his own. The first thing I do, is head straight up to my bedroom and take a shower.  Then I sit down and read a book.  As I sit there my stomach starts to growl and I decide to go down for some food. I look around the pantry and find a couple things to fill my belly with before going back up to my room and waiting.  When he doesn’t show up and the castle still looks like a ghost town, I am forced to use my instincts and track him.  So, I change my clothes into something more suitable for hunting and then shut the front door behind me as I take a deep breath of the night air. When I look up, I see the crescent moon glowing beautifully in the night sky.  There are barely any clouds covering it, so the woods are lit up nicely.  “That wi

Chapter 39: What A Man
The minute I heard that he used me as bait, I decided that there was no way I would let him mate with me any time soon even if it was for a good reason.  I simply can’t let him that close to my heart if this man is going to use me so carelessly for his own reasons.  Knowing full well that if I had been captured again, whatever that was out there would have beaten me or at least held me till Dominic would have given in. So, I lay on this cot even after I wake up, just stewing in my own thoughts and feelings about him.  I don’t say anything to a single soul and when he glances over at me here and there, I glare back at him.  Sighing, I wish one thing right now.  I should have brought a book with me so I could be reading at least. Instead, I must stare over at the two of them watching the screens and wonder why.  Why did he do it?  He could have grabbed me the minute he saw me enter the castle.  But no, he didn’t and why was that

Chapter 40: Alpha Gabriel
Stretching as I stand up, I yawn and hear my jaw pop before I open my eyes to see Dominic staring at me.  I didn’t even sense him in the room, but he is still standing there waiting for me.  “Are you awake now?”  He asks with an amused look on his face before walking towards me and smirking. I stare at him and ask in a challenging voice, “Yes.  Of course.  Why?  Are you going to use me as bait again?”  Then I laugh before continuing, “Did you ever figure out what that is out there?  It was hanging in the shadows, so I never spotted it before it came right at me.  The whole thing was a blur when you pulled me inside.”  I place my hands on my hips before staring impatiently towards him. “Yes.  We did.  It or rather he, is Alpha Gabriel.  He was one of my most trusted advisors.  I just hope you can see why this is upsetting me now.  The last thing I need is you trying to ge
