[Clubbing III] ARIELLA As soon as we entered the club, my nose tingled with every scent in the building, some more putrid than most. One scent that stood out most was the stench of desperation on some of these girls. It was even stronger than the alcohol and the sweat-drenched patrons grinding against one another on the dance floor. How could humans do this so often and not get sick of it? How could they do it and not realize the kinds of terrible consequences it caused? We had barely been here for ten minutes, and I was already on the verge of either punching someone in the face or emptying my stomach contents. I was making my way through the crowd when someone grabbed hold of my hand. “Hey gorgeous,” the man said. “Dance with me.” His hot breath carried the smell of beer and cigarettes, and he had the squinty eyes of someone close to intoxication. He took my hand in his and drew me flush against his chest while his other hand snaked around my waist. “You wanna dance with me, h

[Sinful] Malik Red, yellow, and blue beams erupted from the ceiling’s revolving lights, illuminating the dance floor. My gaze wandered over the densely populated throng, moving and dancing to the DJ’s catchy tunes. In the VIP booth, the floor pulsed beneath my feet, and it was impossible to avoid the heat emanating from the throng. “Malik, man, what’s up with you tonight? For weeks, you turned us down when we asked you to hang out, and tonight you’re here. It’s like you’re not. You’re not drinking. Heck, you ignore the girls who throw themselves at you. What’s your problem, dude?” Chad yelled in my ear, giving me a friendly punch in the arm. Meanwhile, a blonde carbon copy of a Barbie doll rocked and rotated her hips on his crotch. I shrugged. He was right. I had been refusing to hang out with them, but they didn’t need to know the reason. With everything going on at home, it was hard to leave, knowing an attack could happen at any minute. Besides, if I started drinking with these

[Rejection] ARIELLA What the hell just happened? Did my mate just reject me? The sensation was so strange that all I could do was watch him until he disappeared around the corner, dragging my thumping heart behind him. I contemplated chasing after him for the first few minutes but decided against it. “Go after him, please. He needs us as much as we need him,” Bree pleaded, whimpering, and howling her pain for her mate. “There’s no use, Bree. He practically rejected us. There’s nothing to convince him otherwise of what he felt,” I told her and closed the link. He was a hunter, and I was the very thing he hunted and killed. That was what they were taught should they come into contact with a werewolf—kill without hesitation. “El, we need to get going. We don’t know if he left to call in reinforcements,” Bryce stated beside me. Funny how I had been eager to meet my mate all night, but as he glared at me and threatened to kill me if we ever crossed paths again, I could not conceal

[Preparations] MALIK The feeling of bewilderment lingered in my stomach as I watched the wolf and her friends disappear. At first, I debated pursuing them, as it would have led me directly to their pack. That should have pleased my father, right? It ought to. Unless I pursued them and they caught me spying, which would not have been pleasant. My father always told me that a well-thought-out plan was the key to survival. And that was the truth. There was no telling what sort of torture I would have endured had I followed my instincts and gotten caught. So, what should I do? Instead of following them, the safest and best course of action was to go home and inform my father of what had happened. From there, we could plan to eliminate the wolves. I got in my car and drove in the opposite direction to where the wolves had disappeared. As I moved away from the club, the feeling of sickness faded from my stomach. It was replaced with growing adrenaline. The encounter left me feeling ener

[The Run] ARIELLA It was now time for me to transform into my wolf and run between the trees. To feel the wind in my fur and the earth beneath my paws. Or so I thought. Beta Rory drew my father aside and whispered in his ear. Whatever Beta Rory revealed to his Alpha caused him to pale. My father then focused on me. His expression turned to disappointment, carrying a hint of what I assumed was hurt. “We’ll discuss this after,” said my father to his beta. “Have him meet me in my office when we’re done here. Also, tell head warrior, Zach, I’d like to see him in my office.” “Yes, Alpha,” replied Beta Rory. While I might not have heard what Beta Rory told my father, I could only presume his blabber-mouthed son, Bryce, spilled his guts about what happened at the club last night. Why did I believe he wouldn’t go running to his father as soon as he had the chance, without giving me the chance to talk with my father first? My father never approached me, though. Even when my mother tried

[Where Is She?] SIERRA “Sebastian, something is wrong. It has been over two hours and our daughter hasn’t returned to the packhouse,” I told my mate as I barged into his office, ignoring the staring faces of his Beta, head warrior, and my Gamma. I narrowed my eyes at him in disbelief. “Did you even realize she wasn’t back yet? Or is hunting these hunters more important than your only daughter’s safety?” “Could you please give us a minute alone?” Sebastian told his men. He rose from his chair and rounded his desk. Ushering his men out the door, he then closed it behind them. “Sebastian, we need to go look for her and bring our daughter home,” I hissed. “How do you know she’s not just with her friends or on the roof avoiding me?” he asked. I huffed out a breath, my annoyance with my mate reaching a new crescendo. “Are you serious? So what if she didn’t tell us she found her mate or that he was a hunter? Have you forgotten your previous distaste for having a weak human for a mate?”

[The Search Continues] SIERRA I clung to my son, praying for my daughter’s safe return. “We’ll find her, sweetie. Wherever they took her, we’ll hunt them down and bring Ella home safely.” “C’mon, let’s join your father downstairs.” We then left her room and made our way downstairs. I took a seat in the middle of the couch, keeping my back to Rory, who was on the phone. A hand collided with the couch, and I turned to see Sebastian walk in. My heart fell. “Have they found her?” was the first thing I asked him, but he shook his head. “She’s coming back to me,” I said to him, begging him to agree. He just squeezed his eyes shut in response. If he didn’t believe that, I would make sure of it. A tear fell down my cheek, and I stared out the window at the sun setting, painting the sky with a glorious golden finish. “What if we’re looking at it all wrong?” Sebastian sighed. “We’re assuming she was taken. But what if she ran away?” he asked sternly, referring to his own daughter. I tur

[The Alpha’s Chosen Luna] ARIELLA When I awoke, my eyes squinted against the bright light flooding the room. My head throbbed as if a gorilla wearing boxing gloves had been pummeling against my skull, whereas my throat felt so dry my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. I wasn’t sure how long I had been unconscious, but it felt like I had taken one hell of a beating before I came to. I hissed with pain as I pulled myself into a sitting position with my back pressing against the metal frame of a child-like bed, my fingers reaching up to find a silver collar around my neck. Muffled voices and sounds emitted under the door from outside the metal door. The room spun, but I could make out a metal desk and a metal chair next to the bed. A large metal tray held a metal pitcher of water and a metal cup. The room appeared to be some kind of holding cell. Suddenly, a bright light engulfed the room as the door opened, causing me to flinch and cover my face with my palms. When I lowered my

[Searching For Answers] SIERRA She’s not here. I thought to myself as I let out a gut-wrenching howl. My body plummeted to the floor as fear gripped me. A sense of dread washed over me like icy water. My heart pounded furiously in my chest. Sebastian collapsed beside me and pulled me into his arms. He held me tight and whispered words of comfort in my ear, assuring me we would not stop until we found her. I cried and cried, feeling my heart break piece by piece as fear wracked my body for my missing pup. Through my tears, I looked at the sky and begged for an answer. But there was none; instead, only another howl rent through the air. I never knew such pain. All my life, people around me died and went away. Yet, nothing prepared me for the emptiness of not knowing where my child could be. Perhaps this was what my mother felt when she hadn’t heard from me for those two months. That all-consuming emptiness, eating away at any hope you might have had. “We should head back,” Sebas

[Strange Pains] MALIK “Okay, that was the last of the holes and traps,” my father declared. “All we need to do now is cover them. This way, they won’t be noticeable.” I stood above the last hole, drenched in sweat from head to toe. I had sweat in places I never knew could perspire. My father grabbed a shovel and handed it to me. “Start packing in the dirt as tightly as possible,” he instructed. I did as I was told, though my arms felt like they would give out at any moment. After a few minutes, my father motioned for me to stop. He came over to check my work. “Good job,” he praised, before moving on to the next trap. It took us all day, but we covered all the traps with fresh dirt and debris. By the time we were done, it was almost dark out and our stomachs were growling loud enough to scare off any nearby game. My father picked up the shovel and slung it over his shoulder with a satisfied nod. “Now for dinner,” he said with a grin. After we washed up, our family sat around th
