[The Run]

ARIELLA

It was now time for me to transform into my wolf and run between the trees. To feel the wind in my fur and the earth beneath my paws. Or so I thought.

Beta Rory drew my father aside and whispered in his ear. Whatever Beta Rory revealed to his Alpha caused him to pale. My father then focused on me. His expression turned to disappointment, carrying a hint of what I assumed was hurt.

“We’ll discuss this after,” said my father to his beta. “Have him meet me in my office when we’re done here. Also, tell head warrior, Zach, I’d like to see him in my office.”

“Yes, Alpha,” replied Beta Rory.

While I might not have heard what Beta Rory told my father, I could only presume his blabber-mouthed son, Bryce, spilled his guts about what happened at the club last night. Why did I believe he wouldn’t go running to his father as soon as he had the chance, without giving me the chance to talk with my father first?
