Ten minutes after Noni received Briar’s call, she had informed everyone she could, while Shae called others. “Why isn’t she picking up? She just called!” Noni started hyperventilating. “Noni! Slow down. Briar is in enemy territory now. Chief and the others know how to handle situations like these. Let’s get ready for her homecoming?” Shae took Noni’s phone away.As soon as Dove heard the words out of Chief’s mouth, “Briar is alive, and she’s with another wolf, Troy about a block and a half to our,” an explosion forced them to the ground, as 2 cars exploded, one from behind, one in front of them. “What the hell was that?” Dove shouted, hands over his ears. Scythe stood, released his aura, sending typhoon like winds around them, clearing the fire and smoke to reveal 3 wolves in front of him. “Avery, Madox, and Kit. Hello again. These are the three Draken sent to assist Rei and Artemis right after Briar disappeared. My friends, why

Walking into Briar’s dark and silent room, Kyle looked at his daughter laying there, bruised, broken, and unable to speak because he and Noni had only wanted her to grow up to know life before service and duty. This is the repayment for her upbringing. He sat on the chair that was at her bedside and picked up one of her small hands, held it to his forehead then to his lips. When her eyes opened and saw him there, she opened her eyes wide, rubbing them to make certain she wasn’t dreaming. When the tears started falling he swept her up in a bear hug like he would when she was a child and hurt herself. “Bri, I am sorry for all of this. You should have been informed from the very start. Your mom and I only wanted you to grow up knowing life so you could become the one to save us all. That kind of stress should not be put on a child, ever.” He whispered. She placed her hands on either side of her father’s face. She shook her head, indicating there was nothing to forgive. “Troy?” Bri his

Rei Came into Bri’s room, sat by her bed as he had for the last few days. “How you feeling today, Bri?” Smiling as soon as she opened her eyes, “Hey, you. I never thought of you as a morning person.” She laughed. “I’m not either, but I can have coffee, you, can’t.” He teased her. "That’s a low blow, Strauss.” She giggled, coughing as she did.“Are you ok? I know I’m the last person you want to talk about what happened to you, but I’m offering my shoulder and ear.” Rei smiled down at her. "Why are you being so nice? You’re going to confront Troy, aren’t you? I warn you, he protected me when I had nobody there. He took my side, treated me with kindness,” Rei cut her off. “The amulets you two wear are to keep your true feelings in check, you and I are mates. I know you don’t feel it now because of the amulets.” Rei explained. “I’m all new to this whole wolf thing, where there’s a powerful wolf inside me that will emerge in under a week, changing my life, how I feel, what I want. I

Taking a few seconds to breathe, letting her brain catch up, and compose something smart to say, rather than confusing the situation even more. By the end of this conversation the connection between them would forever be altered. This has always been the part Kitsune hated the most. It has happened many times in her past. She came between twins of every generation her entire life, which was long. This time was different somehow, with the three of them only because Briar is a brand new human vessel, never tested, never pushed to fight like she should have by now. “Your sin of taking me against my will has been forgiven, Troy. I will not forget this so easily, but, I will forgive and understand your actions, thus far.” She said. “Your duality is going to be wicked if you train in properly. That’s What I love about you, Kitsune, you’re real and not much bothers you.” Troy said. “Thank you, Troy.” The way she touched Troy’s hand, Rei had seen enough. He stood, looking down at the two,
