Oh, we love Dr. Barkley. He’s delivered all our babies since Dr. Coggins retired. – BecksAfter four days, Evie was released from the hospital under light duty. Even the nurse was having a hard time not laughing as she read the instructions and restrictions. Neither of her men were letting her do much. They were still feeding her the meals. They gave her sponge baths. When she had to get out of bed for the sheets to be changed, they scooped her up before she could get up on her own. If it was something that they could do, the nursing staff learned to simply get out of their way.The two large bikers pampered their woman. They even arranged for someone to come in and give her a manicure and pedicure because she missed her weekly appointment. Then, because Evie said every woman, especially new moms, needed a little pampering, all the new moms got them also. And the nursing staff all got gift certificates. She was spoiled. She knew it. And she was okay with it. Her men were well awa

I need to know what name you want me to train him with. – DawgIt was two days before school started and Athos was driving Evie home after a doctor’s appointment. She talked him into stopping by the Cookie Jar for a decaf coffee and a toasted sandwich. And a few cookies. A slice of cake. An order of fried potato slices. And a fruit salad.Athos was laughing as he turned onto their road. Evie had the Styrofoam box of potato slices open in her lap and eating them with her good hand. “Are you sure that we got enough for you to eat?”“Yeah, there’s food at the house.” She said around a mouthful of food. “Which one is hungry? Baby Ink or Baby Tank?” he asked pulling into the driveway and opening the garage door with a press of a button. “All three of us.” She said as he parked in the garage. “Let me help you with all this.” Athos said getting out of the car and coming around to her door. “Did you really eat all of those on the way home?” he laughed gathering up the to go bags.“We’re h

Just remember, it doesn’t matter how bad the day sucks, you have to stay at school. It’s the bad part of being the teacher. – DixieMorning classes pretty much went exactly as she had expected. The majority of the students had been in her classes last year. She was still a little confused about how there was no order for the history classes. It was why she had seniors in American history that had already completed their government and world history. And in the same class, freshman that knew nothing past the general and state history from elementary and middle school.Class discussion could range from having to explain the types of government to the consequences of WWII. She loved the dynamics. And she loved seeing the look of understanding as something finally clicked. Between second and third, Priscilla dropped off a McDonald’s bag and drink. Her conference period was after lunch, which was good because she was still going into a food coma after lunch. The nurse told her to come la

Homecoming mums. Seriously, they are a thing. You should Google them. – LawThe picture wall in Evie’s room was popular, but even more so during the week of homecoming. She arrived early and stayed late while other staff stayed during her lunch break and conference period. On Friday, Ink scheduled to go in late and he and Tank took Evie to the game. They ran into several of her students in the parking lot. At the gate, her men handed over their tickets and she showed her school ID. The student taking the tickets looked at her ID and smiled. “Congratulations!”“Thanks.” She smiled back at the blue haired boy and absently rubbed her belly that was starting to show. They found their seats and then Ink went to get drinks and snacks. He returned with a tray and a Theodore Roosevelt High School seat cushion. “Stand up, pet.” Ink said giving the tray of food to Tank. Evie did as she was told and he placed the cushion on the aluminum bleacher. “Alright, pet, sit back down.”She couldn’t h

Take a break from life. But don’t forget to start living again. – LawIt did not take long for the whole school to know that Amelia Haughton had killed herself. Counselors were available for students and staff alike. A school assembly was scheduled for Tuesday morning. Evie did not hide her own emotions. She scrapped her lesson plans and led open discussions in every class. Just like the one she was about to lead in the last class. “Miss, are you going to give us some bullshit about how we can talk to you?” Miss Davis asked.“No, ma’am, I will never give you bullshit. But you can always come talk to me.” She flipped on the projector and a phone number appeared on the smart board. “Put this in your phone and text me your name.”“You expect me to believe that you’re going to give out your phone number?” one of the boys demanded. “My Saints kids, you have my phone number. Is that the same number that you have for me?”Camille was scrolling through her phone and then compared the numbe
