Fiona's pov “Are you sure this is the place?” I asked, staring up at the broken sign swinging above the door.He looked down at the paper in his hand, then back at the building.“This is it,” he said, but his voice wasn’t confident.I hesitated. The air smelled like rain and old smoke. The street was nearly empty, except for a couple arguing across the road and a cat slipping into the alley. The door looked like it hadn’t been opened in years.“I don’t like it,” I murmured.“Me neither.”We both stood there for a second too long. Then, without saying anything more, I stepped forward and grabbed the handle. The metal was cold.“Let’s just get this over with,” I said.Inside was worse than outside. The tavern was dark. Too dark. The wooden floor creaked with every step, and the air smelled like something sweet and sour at the same time. Cinnamon maybe. Or something rotting under it.There were a few people scattered around, heads down, drinks in front of them. No one looked up.I follo

Logan's pov“You’re not really going through with this.”The words came out harder than I meant. She didn’t even flinch. Just sat there on the edge of the bed, pulling on those tight black jeans like she wasn’t about to walk into hell. Like this was normal.I hated how calm she looked. Hated that I could already feel her slipping away.“I have to,” she said quietly, zipping her jacket halfway up. Rain pattered softly against the windows. Her hair was still wet from earlier—dark strands stuck to the side of her neck. She looked like she hadn’t slept in a week. Probably hadn’t.I stepped back and ran a hand through my hair. “Fiona, this is suicide.”She stood and faced me. “It’s the only way.”“No, it’s not,” I said. “We could wait. Regroup. Try again from the outside.”“There won’t be a next time,” she said. “You saw the footage. That same van parked outside the Northline drop twice in three days. Someone's feeding them our movements.”“Then we cut them off. Go dark again. Hide out som

Fiona's pov "Are you still there?” I asked, pressing the phone closer to my ear.“Yes,” Logan said. His voice was strained. “Where are you?”I scanned the alley again, the rows of dented dumpsters, water running along the curb, and old lights buzzing above me like flies. My breath still hadn’t caught up to me.“Near the south yard. I lost them, I think. But they were close.”“Tell me exactly what you saw.”I leaned back against the wall, resting one hand on my side. My jacket was torn at the hip, and I didn’t even remember when it happened.“Elira’s alive. She’s running things. And Marcus… he was there. Smiling like this is some kind of twisted joke.”“He’s one of us,” Logan said. But he didn’t sound convinced.“Was,” I corrected. “He knew me. Looked me straight in the face and saw right through the disguise.”“You get the files?”I glanced down at the drive in my palm, its casing scratched from where I’d hit the ground earlier. “Yes. And Logan… there’s more.”“What do you mean?”“Th

Fiona's pov The moon floated high above the treetops, bright enough to silver the edges of every branch. The forest was quiet except for the faint rustle of leaves shifting in the night breeze. I had left the camp without a word, claiming I needed air, but in truth I needed distance from the stares, from the worry, from Logan’s situation. In three days, we would stand before the Moon Goddess. The pack would gather in the great circle, voices lifted in the vow of loyalty. Logan, as Alpha, would stand in the center, receiving their oaths. It was the holiest night in our year, the night when our unity was renewed under her gaze. But Logan wasn’t ready. He hid it well from most, but I had seen it, the restless pacing at night, the way his eyes lingered too long on the maps, the quiet silences that weren’t focus, but doubt. If he wavered in front of the pack, even for a heartbeat, the bond could weaken. Enemies could use that and I could not allow it.I took the long way through the trees

Fiona's pov “What was that?” I demanded, my voice sharp despite the cloth tied over my mouth.Zeus’s head turned slightly, his gaze locked on the empty doorway. “Trouble,” he muttered. His tone wasn’t panicked, but it wasn’t calm either, it was the voice of someone who knew danger was here with us.He stepped forward, knife in hand, and peered into the dim hall outside. Nothing moved. But even I could feel it now, a heaviness in the air.“I’m not going anywhere with you,” I spat through the gag, my words broken but stubborn. “You come from nowhere, tie me up, and start claiming to be my uncle? That’s not enough for me to trust you.”He didn’t even flinch. “We don’t have the luxury for trust right now. I need to take you to Monegero.""What?" I snapped back."That is where you belong, with the power inside you. Not here, not with Logan’s pack, and not in the mess Magnus made for you.”My heart tightened at Logan’s name. “I do belong with them,” I tried to shout, but it came out muffle
