SPADEKeeping my tone pleasant, I said, “Maybe I am.” I ordered black and leaned against the table, very impolite for people like them, whom he paid an etiquette trainer to teach me.“That’s exactly why I didn’t tell you about his release.”“He hasn’t been my father since he started abusing me. You’re my father longer than he was. Why did you meet him?”He neither admitted nor denied. He examined my face for a moment, but said nothing.I paused, drew a steadying breath. “Are you going to tell me about it?” Nothing. And there was nothing I hated than being ignored by the people I loved.“Dad, if you don’t wanna talk to me, you shoudn’t have let me come.” I sighed and slipped my hand into my suit pocket to get some bills. “Enjoy your tea time.”“Spade.”“So now you wanna talk?” I straightened my back. I was getting exasperated. “What did I do that pissed you off?”“I should be asking you that question.”“You know why. You talked to Sean, and you did not even let me know. What did you t

SPADEI checked the time on my watch as I entered the Bazz. I thought I would be late. After receiving the text earlier about the meetup with the address and time, I joined Lex to play golf. This bar was always crowded at any time of the day or night. Wave moved to the corner as I found an empty stool at the bar.“What can I get you, sir?” asked the lady bartender.“Just Scotch on the rocks, please.” I tapped my fingers on the counter, thinking of Robyn, waiting for me at home.I knew she left a while ago with Piper at the penthouse. I just didn’t know how to break it to her that Lex was helping out Sean. He even offered him a job. I admired him for not giving up on people. I also hated the idea of him allowing Sean to get into his life again. The last time he did, Sean almost got me killed. I thought he’d already learned that lesson. Apparently, not. When the guy to my right left, someone with a sweet floral perfume from the luxury brand took a seat.“I’ll have what he has,” she sa

ROBYN“Hey, baby. Did you have fun?” He leaned down to kiss me on the lips. Spade seemed calmer tonight compared to last week. “Yup. We had. In fact, she’s in the guest room, passing out.” I cupped his cheek. “How about you?”“Great. I met Lex today.” He kissed me again, hungrily this time, gliding his tongue inside my mouth, sliding his hand at the back of my neck before nipping my lower lip. He then put his weight on me, pressing me against the mattress. I gasped, digging my fingers into his arms, not from pain because I was healed. The scars were still there, though, a souvenir and a reminder of how life was so short and unpredictable. I was gasping from the kiss, from the huge bulge of his rigid cock deliciously pressed against my core. My clit throbbed, and I was instantly aroused. He then broke the kiss, took off his shirt, and pulled off my dress. He shoved up my bra, freeing my breasts. He took one into his mouth, sucking it hard. I arched, pushing my chest into his face a

ROBYN“Just leave me alone, babe. Go talk to your husband?” She grabbed the water from me and literally kicked me out of the room.“Can I ask you something?”“No. Figure it out. If your feelings for him are real, then that’s the reason why it hurts so much because you trusted him, and you felt betrayed. If you feel this marriage is important to you, then consider listening to him. But if he’s hurt you, mistreats you, and you think he’s crossed the line, then this relationship is toxic and twisted from the start. Trust me, you should leave him, no matter how hot and loaded and how big his cock is. Toxic relationships always end up badly, with one in a body bag and one in prison. I don’t wanna see you getting hurt, Robyn.”“Thanks.” I smiled tightly. I was glad she was here when it happened, or I might have just left the penthouse and stayed in my apartment without solving our marital problem.Sometimes I was a mess. I couldn’t think or act rationally when I was hurt, and I turned out t

ROBYN“I’ll take it.” I went to grab his phone from the nightstand. “It’s Linden.”Spade was already behind me, taking his phone. “What does he want?”“Answer it.” I sat on the bed as he answered the call.“Come again.” I instantly knew that look. A shocking look was plastered all over his face. He groaned, hand fisting and unfisting. And then he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “Fuck. Jesus Christ.” “What’s going on?” I whispered. He turned to me and said, “I’ll be downstairs.”Confused, I only stared at him until he walked out of the room. I decided to follow him. Whatever upset him must be something he was working on. When Linden called, I knew it had something to do with the abduction case or his security. When he turned the TV on in the kitchen, I gasped. “Oh, my God.” I almost tripped as I stepped back. It was a good thing he was quick to catch me.With my hands on my mouth, I stared at the TV screen with Cali’s face on the headline. “But why? Why did she do that befo
