Lyra~Finally I had crossed into Vampire land. The doors to the mansion opened wide, and I walked in a rush straight through them with blood soaking my clothes, cold and sticky against my skin. I didn't look back. I didn't need to. I knew how things were. Freda lay limp in the arms of Sober by beta, her breathing was now shallow and uneven. Every rise of her chest felt slower and slower each passing moment.Behind me, Harold was dragged across the marble stone floors, his body broken, barely conscious.I didn't want him dead, now I needed him because he knew Martina and her sister. And I needed to milk him dry of every information he knew. The moment I stepped inside, it was like my mother and uncle Gerald knew I was coming and they were already waiting for me.My twin pups too. Calvin and Ember, including Fabian and Ruth. There was an aching tension lingering around.River and Rowan rushed towards me but I yelled."Stop, don't come any closer."As if sensing my hostility, my mother E

Lupari packThe silence in the Council Hall was heavy, but it was a false peace. They had gathered today to finally make a choice, since Harold and Maōri were the ones that discussed this in their private times.Elder Sera sat stiffly, her ears straining. The usual night sounds of the pack were missing."Alpha Lyra is strong," Elder Harold said, his voice a low rumble. "She's the future we need. Richard isn't fit to rule this pack anymore.""He's now just sitting like a bag of potatoes holding the Alpha's title," he murmured, rubbing his tired eyes. "But to do nothing is a slower death that this pack doesn't need right now."Sera didn't say a thing. There was already tension around with Elder Maōri being his usual blunt self.A distant alarm bell rang out... twice... then was cut off into silence. The doors burst open and Lieutenant Mira stood there, with her armor on, sword drawn. Although this wasn't the historical time, Lieutenant Mira liked to do things the old ways and the sword

LyraThe silence in the parlor was shattered by my own voice. "Search! The security room... find the CCTV!"The warriors snapped into motion. I turned from Mathew's body, the shock hardening into something else, cold and sharp. Grief?I didn't have time to grieve; I needed to think.I walked outside, as the first gray light of dawn was bleeding into the sky, making the horror clear. Uncle Gerald's vampire warriors, maybe twenty of them, stood in the square. They'd stopped moving; they just stared at the bodies, at the empty houses. Their faces were pale. They looked at me as I stepped out. My beta Albert stood beside them, waiting."Listen!" My voice cut through the silent atmosphere, louder than I intended. Every head turned. "That attack is over; the enemy is gone. They took my people, they killed my family." I pointed to two warriors. "You two, secure the main gate. Nothing gets in or out without my word." I pointed to another group. "I need a perimeter sweep. Look for survivors, f

Vampire Territory~The first thing Chloe noticed was the smell. It was sharp and clean, like strong herbs. It felt wrong because this wasn't the warm fuzzy, familiar scent of her own bedroom. The blanket over her was heavy, a thick cloth that was itchy to her skin. A low, steady hum vibrated through the floor- like a generator, somewhere deep in the building. Her eyes flew open. What happened? A cold panic, tightened in her chest. This wasn't her room. Luxurious stone walls, not the normal plastered wall and a single dim lamp on a table.Memory came in jagged pieces. She was clinging to Dominic's still form on the couch. Her father's grim face. Her grandmother 's silent tears. The sound of her own crying, so loud it drowned out everything else. Lyra's eyes, firm but full of worry, looking down at her.So how did she end up here? She didn't remember going to her room. She didn't remember leaving Dominic's side at all. The gap in her memory was a dark, frightening hole. She pushed hers

Crimson Pack~Richard's head throbbed, his thoughts some and drowsy. The last clear memory was of shattering glass and Mathew falling. This has to be a dream. A terrible dream."A bad dream," he croaked, his throat raw. His voice was rough. "I dreamed I was captured by rogues and Crimson wolves..."The boot connected with his stomach before he could finish. The air exploded from his lungs in a violent whoosh. White light flashed behind his eyes. A cramping, deep shiny seized his entire core. He couldn't breathe, couldn't think, he could only curl around the blinding pain.He writhed on the cold, damp stone, gasping soundlessly. A wet, ragged cough finally tore him, bringing up spit and blood. Tears of pure physical shock streamed from his eyes. Before he could draw a full breath, another kick slammed into his ribs. A crack. A groan was forced from him. Then, icy water.A bucket filled with water poured on him, drowning him in shock. He gasped, the cold so intense it felt like fire on
