Cole POV We had been moving from store to store, after I had gotten some clothes from Marly to lend to Jessica. Jessica had no idea what she wanted. It was clear she came from a life where little to no choices were made by her. “What color do you like?” I asked her, wanting to sound excited when shopping was my least favourite thing. Jessica looked around, before landing on a blue top. “I like that,” she indicated. It was a cute top and would look adorable on her. I suspected she would be small in whatever we purchased for her. “Do you want to try it on?” I asked, as she gave me a look like I had suggested she jump in a shark infested ocean. I chuckled, “I just want to be sure things fit you,” I responded, as a clerk came to my rescue. “Can I help you pick out some things?” the older woman inquired. I looked relieved, while Jessica looked slightly embarrassed. “Do not frown, dear, I help many young women pick out their

Jessica POV I was so embarrassed at what I did not know. How could an adult werewolf not know what is happening to themselves, I thought? Or what were basic things even a pup would know. I cringed at how they must view me, and it motivated me more than ever to get out of here while I could. Before my father caught up with me. I hated the thought, if I admitted it to myself. I was drawn to Cole through our bond, but it was more than that. I felt like he saw me for me. The Christine situation did cause me to pause and wonder what he could even remotely see in me. And why not reject me right away when he had her waiting here for him. “Ahem,” I heard Carson, as he cleared his throat. I had been daydreaming when they were trying to do the pack induction. “Sorry,” I said softly, my face going red. Cole held onto my hand, as I held the other out. I saw the ceremonial knife that Carson had explained was to be used.

Cole POV “Do you think there is any risk to removing whatever is inside of Jessica?” I questioned the doctor as we exited Jessica’s room. The doctor looked to me, “Somebody has made it clear they do now want her wolf to surface,” he responded. “What do you mean?” I asked seeking clarity. “I have never seen anything quite like it; and I cannot comprehend why somebody would want to damage a wolf unless there is something unique about the wolf,” the doctor admitted. “Jessica told me she had first heard her wolf at sixteen,” I shared with the doctor. Having known him for years, I knew I could trust him with this information. “That is interesting. Perhaps her wolf was too aggressive?” he suggested. I shook my head, “She did not get a chance to shift before they sedated her,” I shared. Cole POV I smiled as Marly walked into the room, “How did you know?” I asked. “I did not know. I was wondering why I had not heard from you so I thought I would pop over and see if Jessica needed some support,” Marly replied. Jessica looked at Marly but said nothing. “We do have a question for you, Marly,” I started to say, when Marly stepped towards Jessica. “Are you alright? You seem scared. You should not be frightened here; you are safe,” Marly said, touching Jessica’s hand softly. Jessica tensed at the touch, but Marly left her hand there before turning to look at me. “What do you need?” she asked. “It turns out there are a couple of tracking devices inside of Jessica. One is in her arm and the other in her hip. We are hoping you might be able to help us determine what exactly they are and whether it would be possible to remove them safely,” I shared with her. Her eyes widened as I spoke, before she
