SERAPHINAQuinn didn’t just play me; she outplayed me, and I walked into it.A fire burned in my chest, hot and wild as I slammed the door with a thunderous bang behind me.“Fuck!”She really caught me unaware. I walked into an open trap, and before I realized it, it was too late.I was informed that Quinn escaped, with the help of the driver, in an unregistered vehicle. Meaning, it was pre-planned.“You’re telling me,” I said dangerously, “that you lost her…and you don’t even know who interfered?”The silence confirmed it. I closed my eyes briefly.“Find him,” I said quietly. That quiet was worse than shouting.“And when you do, make sure he doesn’t get a second chance to breathe.”My voice dropped further.“Don’t make the same mistake twice.”When the call ended, the room got silent, but loud with thought.I walked to the table slowly, picking up my glass and taking a sip to steady the rising tension that threaded through me.The realization came clean. She set me up. My lips presse

QUINNI felt him even before I saw him.The air was suddenly thick and filled with unspoken words.Something nearly invisible had just entered the room, and the air decided nothing else mattered anymore until I caught it.I was still looking around the hall, searching for that thing which took away my ease, when I felt a hand on me.The fingers clamped around my wrist, hard, unyielding and immediate. I turned sharply and met his eyes. Morrison.I did a double-take, my jaw nearly dropping on the ground at the sight of him burning with something more than just anger.“Have you completely lost your mind?” his voice was low but carried urgency. His grip tightened slowly as he pulled me closer from my seat, in a bid to take me out of the room. He didn’t care if the scene attracted attention at that moment.Of course, people noticed it. But as expected, they just watched and didn’t interrupt.“Let’s go,” I said as I freed myself from his grip.Enough eyes had seen me for the night, and i

QUINNThe car didn’t feel like a car anymore. It felt like a cage. And all of a sudden, the freedom I thought I had wasn’t just gone; it never existed.I didn’t shift in my seat, didn’t let my breathing change or allow my eyes to linger too long on the phone screen.I just quietly observed Xavier, but at the same time watched the road, the pauses and the turns.Because I knew I was no longer safe with him, and I had to watch where I was taken to.The driver didn’t speak or react. He focused and drove, just like Xavier. His hands were steady on the wheel, and his gaze not shifting off the road.Even when Xavier and I spoke, he didn’t shift. But I knew he was monitoring. I saw his ears; they were widely open.My gaze drifted back to the dashboard. The infinity sign.It still sat there, quiet and nearly invisible. But now that I had seen it, it felt less like a symbol and more like a mark.My fingers curled slightly against my lap. Xavier didn’t flinch; his countenance had not changed ei

QUINNSomething creaked behind the door. This time, the sound was softer, like whatever was behind it was being extra careful not to alert anyone.Yet it was enough to bring all the nerves in my body to sharp awareness.I stalled in the middle of the motel room, my fingers slowly tightening at my sides, my breathing shallow, controlled, yet heavy. My eyes were fixated on the door.Someone was behind it, I was sure. My stomach tightened, like it was doing flips, sending nauseating waves of anxiety across my body.Who could have traced me back to the motel again? The question forced my brain to pause for a moment.I inhaled slowly. There was no reason to fear anymore. I had seen it all. Fear was no longer new to me.I moved closer to the door anyway. I had to be brave. Standing still was worse. There, it was now still, no footsteps, voice or sound, but the presence was there. They lay still, waiting for me.Quickly, I made a sharp calculation, just in case it would become necessary. My

QUINNDawn didn’t just break; it bared its teeth.I felt it in the way the wind cut across my skin as I moved, fast and directionless, trying to run away from everything that was closing in on me.Outside the city, every path felt watched. Each step I took felt like I was walking into a burning furnace. But I didn’t stop, because I couldn’t.My breath came out unevenly as I turned into a quieter street, the noise of the city thinning behind me. The motel and the chaos with it were gone. And now, I had to face whatever the next step I would be taking. They managed to find me everywhere I went. Their eyes lurked closely in the city. The next option was disappearing. The way Morrison once did.Starting my life afresh, just me and my child. Ditching the confusion, subtle attacks and fights. At the same time, beginning the search for my identity.Even as the thoughts formed, I knew it was a lie.Just then, I heard a car door thud. For the first time, I noticed the SUV sitting graciously o
