"Shed your pelt now, or I swear I'll spill your throat across these stones," he snarled, the scent of his foul intentions thick in the air. With the silver-edged blade chilling the skin of her neck, Avery knew better than to test his reflexes. She began to untie the complex silk fastenings of her gown slowly, using the intricate layers of the Silver Ridge formal attire to buy herself every possible second. As Avery shed each layer, the male watched her, his eyes reflecting a vile mixture of lupine lust and predator's disgust. He let out a low, guttural huff. "Despite being many winters past your prime and burdened by cubs, your form and scent are remarkable. Why waste yourself on a dead bond? Pledge yourself to my service, and I will spare your life and the lives of your runts. A fair trade for a stray, isn't it?"A spark of calculation ignited in Avery's amber eyes. She went still, lifting her gaze to meet his, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. In a voice as soft as a dying breeze

Avery Monroe squeezed her fists so tightly that her claws bit into her palms, hoping the stinging pain would keep her wolf from surfacing in a howl of agony. But no amount of physical torment could dull the ache in her chest. She lowered her head, and the tears that had welled in her eyes finally spilled over, staining the stone floor. She failed to notice that both high-ranking males felt the oppressive weight of her sorrow.Hudson Montgomery couldn't explain why he felt such a visceral pull toward her. Blake Donovan had claimed she was Sarah Miller. He had heard the pack whispers about his history with Sarah. They claimed they had severed their bond on bitter terms, swearing to never cross territorial lines again. Back then, she had been a constant thorn in his side.Yet, facing her now, Hudson felt no annoyance. Was his dormant memory clouding his true instincts? The pack said he despised her, but now, inexplicably, he felt a surge of protective pity for the female.Digging into hi

It wasn't a time deck after the pack has completed their formal greetings when the sound was heard outside the meadow's end. "Lady cross, the two rank of Donovan bloodline have reached the crossing" the man behind stood up."What theeee... Donovans? I didn't allow them to cross, even now the moon is high" Delaney said, raising her voice which the scouts nodded in confusion. Delaney looked outside the clearing with a brod face. Avery wasn't sure about the reaction but gave a calm and supportive look. Then she spoke " It seems that they didn't have a choice if they're invited or not in the feast. I think we should welcome them as guest for this calling of peace. The concrete of kicking them out to the borders will rise in blood fuels, when assured them to go home?I noticed that Delaney seen to wait, seeing her hands down and her dagger in shows, she agreed to my statement. Meanwhile, Victoria entered the scene, holding Hudson's arm, which shows the iron lad. I noticed that the hall

The Donovan manor's iron gates created a hissing sound as Grant walked through them. He felt as though he were a stray being driven into a cage of silver and bone. The interior of the stone villa experienced an unnatural coldness which created a thick gloomy atmosphere despite the sun shining on Silver Ridge.Grant examined the hidden rune-stone watch which he had modified to bypass pack jamming signals. Grant used the device to transmit distress vibrations because he needed Avery to detect the change in spiritual energy while Victoria looked at her reflection.Sadie remained hidden in the upper chambers with her body wrapped in a cold silk nest while she protected her broken arm. The dark bruises were jagged stains against her pale skin—remnants of the "correction" she had endured for her defiance. She experienced a heavy wave of guilt because she had never pictured Grant searching for her inside the enemy base. Hudson and Victoria had started a vicious argument at the manor which ca

"Forgive my weakness," Avery whispered, suddenly aware of her spiritual collapse. She gently pushed Hudson away and moved to the far corner of the stone elevator, seeking the sanctuary of distance.Hudson stared at his now-empty arms, feeling a sharp pang of loss in his wolf. He calmly announced, "The runes have failed and the mechanism is jammed. Do not fear. I have sent a distress pulse through the maintenance link; the pack-smiths should be here shortly.""Very well," Avery responded, her voice quivering like a leaf in a storm. The moment the machine had seized, every glow-stone flickered out, plunging them into a total, heavy darkness. The sudden blackness in such a cramped, iron space was terrifying. Avery felt as though the very walls were closing in to suffocate her.Hudson scented her rising distress. He was tempted to bridge the gap and offer his strength, but he hesitated, worried his aura would seem an intrusion on her territory. Instead, he asked tentatively, "Does your wo
