Semua Bab REBIRTH: SEVEN DAYS BEFORE DOOMSDAY: Bab 1 - Bab 10

My brows furrowed as I looked down at the plates, both of them contained crumbs, as though two people were just done eating. My gaze moved around the room and that was when I noticed that something else had changed. There was a second backpack, a smaller one, at the side of the wall. And it wasn’t Ethan's.My heart sank, I stood up and immediately called out, “Who’s there?” `Ethan stopped drinking. My hand instinctively moved toward the knife tucked inside my waistband.“If you don’t come out now,” I started to shout, “I am going to start shooting. I am not bluffing, I have a gun.” I lied through gritted teeth. The moment those words left my lips, the bathroom door opened and Sarah – my best friend — walked out.My blood went cold, and it wasn’t because of her presence. No, it was because she was holding the hand of a young boy.Years ago, Sarah had gotten pregnant, and she had refused to ever tell me who the father was. I had not bothered to focus on it ever since then, not until th

The property I wanted was right outside the city. It was far enough from the crowds, but close enough that I would be able to access more supplies just in case something went wrong. But far more importantly, the property was completely surrounded on all sides by a river. It was, in short, a small island. The only way to get there was via a boat. That meant the base would be easily defensible. In my previous life, Harris had told me about the place, and how much he hated buying the property because it was so far from the city. But I knew it was about to become one of the safest settlements in just a week, because not once had I met a zombie who was able to swim, they were far too aggressive for waddling through water.Besides, the land around the house was large enough for farming. It had a deep well for freshwater, and even a barn filled with some farm animals.I had no idea why Harris had put in those things for a vacation home, but I was very happy that they were there. It had everyt

I let out a long, irritated groan. Out of all the people I had expected to run into today, Sarah wasn’t one of them. After today, I will have six days left to secure my base and to prepare for my new life.Even though I hated her with all my heart, I did not have any time for Sarah and whatever antics she had planned. Unfortunately for me, Sarah wasn’t smart enough to notice that I didn’t want to see or even speak to her.I didn’t want to hate a child for something that wasn’t his fault. So, I flashed little Cory a smile, and when I looked up to face his mother, I was frowning.“Where have you been?” Sarah demanded. Her eyes had lit up the moment she spotted me, and when Cory had pointed me out, she had immediately dropped what she was buying and began to walk towards me. “I got a panicked call from Ethan earlier. He told me you asked for a divorce. What the fuck, Kara?” she hissed, “Why the hell would you do that? Do you know just how much he loves you?”Her tone and voice was so loud

The moment I turned off my phone and placed it back inside my purse, Vance’s blank expression shifted and his smile returned. Then, he cleared his throat and moved on. “Oh right. We were talking about compressed grain shipments, right?”I nodded, smiling as I watched him go back to his notes. I had no doubt in my mind that he had so many questions for me after my last call, but he had decided it was better to secure a deal than to be nosy.It didn’t take long before we were both engrossed in making sure my order was fulfilled. Initially, I had planned a budget of six figures for everything, but it didn’t take long before I realized I had been too optimistic. The price of everything started small, but as I kept on adding other things that I needed, including full-on water filtration systems, the price ballooned into over 2 million dollars. When he was done during the initial collation, he handed me the estimated price of everything, and I couldn’t help staring at the large figure for a

Kara’s POV:The moment I saw Harris standing outside my hotel room, I knew I had been caught. But even though I could tell by his gaze that he had discovered something, I wasn’t going to just admit it immediately. Initially, I had tried to brush off and convince him that I had no idea what he was talking about, but that quickly stopped when he showed me the video.I stared at the screen for a long while and watched as the wine glass stopped mid-air, and then flew right through my hand. There was no denying that. There was actually no way I would be able to manipulate him out of believing this. So, I closed my eyes and thought about how I was going to handle this.Of course, I was shocked, but that quickly gave way to resignation. Now that he knew about my power, I had to think about what else I wanted to tell him.Did I trust him enough to tell him about the apocalypse? And even if I did tell him, was he going to believe me? Who would? I knew that I would not believe it if anyone came
