Why would the very rich, very hot, very broody author, Blake Shite need a fake date for a month? Addie Noel didn't know, but she needed the money and a vacation from her life sounded good. Besides what could go wrong? All she had to do was pretend to like the rude author in public and enjoy the warm beaches and maybe write a few songs along the way. Between an author with writer's block, an agent with a hidden plan, a dog that steals shoes, an ex with an attitude problem, and too much alcohol things are bound to get interesting. Will Addie be the muse to inspire Blake or will the tension between them be too much to handle?

Prologue
So this was how it was going to go, Blake Shite slammed her laptop closed and sat back in her very comfy office chair. She'd been locked up in her home for a week, trying to put words to her new book. But nothing. Not a single word made it onto the screen, her fingers hovered, typed, deleted. Over and over. She rubbed a hand over her tired eyes and stood, stretching her back. She would go down to the kitchen, make herself a cup of coffee, toast and try again. Her phone rang on her desk and she glared down at it. Her agent, Donna, again. She growled at the phone, ignored it, and went down to her kitchen. Blake didn't have time to deal with Donna now, as her friend, Donna understood that she was stuck, but as her agent, Donna was pushing her to write, anything, just write. Blake rolled her eyes, because it was that easy, right? She had to admit that in the beginning, her first five books, top sellers, had been sort of easy, sure she'd had moments of panic when she'd gotten stuck on a

Chapter 1
Blake stood on the small porch of the cabin that would be home for the next month, the air was thick and humid, the wind that blew through the palm trees didn't offer any relief. She found herself smiling as she looked out over the stretch of beach that would be hers, well hers and Addie's, for the next month. She had no idea why the woman hadn't flown in with them. When Donna and Lex, Donna's newest baby butch, had picked her up, they'd been alone, Donna told her that Addie would arrive later that day. So for now she enjoyed the time she had alone. They would have to discuss their sleeping arrangements since there was only one bed, queen-sized, and she wanted to be the one that got to sleep in it. But Blake wasn't against compromising and alternating nights. The couch in their small living room was comfortable enough. She just hoped this Addie woman was as compromising as she was. She'd already unpacked and felt she left the other woman enough space in the cupboard for her clothes,

Chapter 2
Addie sat watching Blake, Kodi on the couch next to her. Last night, their first night spent together, they'd decided to share a bed. She'd laughed at Blake who'd placed pillows down the middle of the bed. It was the line, she's said, all serious. Blake had glared at her when Addie told her that it must be because she had no self-control because there was no way Addie would need the pillow line to stay on her side. Blake had mumbled something and turned on her side, seemingly falling asleep straight away. Kodi was the only one that seemed to think the pillow line was not for her, since she hopped on the bed, climbed on the pillows, turned in circles, and settled, her butt on Addie's side her head resting on Blake's shoulder. Now she sat watching Blake struggle to write, she'd been trying for two hours. Addie knew she was only trying because the screen was still blank."Come on." Addie stood, startling Blake. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. It's a gorgeous day, let's go fo

Chapter 3
Blake could feel Donna watching her. They'd been on the dingy because Addie had been right, it was a dingy, for an hour now, and she could feel Donna's stare. Lex and Addie were helping the dingy captain cook, he was making them crab and some other fish Blake had no idea what the name was. She'd pulled her sunhat low over her eyes, the sunglasses added an extra block, and tried to ignore Donna. She either wanted to know if Blake had found inspiration, or she wanted to know about her and Addie's morning ride. Kodi, the most chill dog ever, lay at her feet, her head on Blake's ankle."Are you just going to sit there and pretend you don't feel me watching you?" "Yes, yes that's exactly what I'm going to do," Blake said laughter in her voice. "You're being a bad friend," Donna complained."Why? Because I don't want to spill on every second of my morning with Addie?" "Yes! Where did you go? What did you do?""We went on a bike r

Chapter 4
The next morning, Addie sat on the steps of their cabin, a cup of coffee in hand, with Kodi sniffing around their expanse of beach. She was deep in thought and never heard Blake approach. "Donna called, they're going snorkeling." "Those two are going to do all the activities in one day." Addie laughed. "Uh, have you seen my blue slop? I can only seem to find one." "Oh no, Kodi," Addie said and stood. "I'll go try and find it, she takes shoes, buries them." "Are you saying she stole my shoe?" "It means she likes you, that's something, right?" "Sure, something." She turned back inside and came out a few moments later, her cup of coffee in hand too. "Let's go, show us where you buried it, smart dog." "She's not going to show you, it's a game to her, she hides we seek." Addie grinned. "Well, those are my only pair and I sort of need them. Since this place doesn't have a s

Chapter 5
Blake walked beside Addie in silence. They were on their way to pick up Kodi, after their yacht ride. She'd had so much fun. After she settled and realized they wouldn't sink, she'd started to enjoy the evening. Addie was good company and they'd talked about everything and nothing. She knew they both steered clear of their personal lives, talking about general things. But still, it had been fun and she'd enjoyed stargazing. Blake even thought about buying herself a telescope when she got home, just so she could look at them. It was silly, of course, but who cared? She suddenly missed a step and stumbled, bracing for the fall, she stretched her hands out in front of her, but the landing never came. Strong hands held her hips, and pulled her back up, then held her tight. She felt a jolt of desire and stiffened. Stepping out of Addie's reach she turned and smoothed her hair."You okay?" "Yes, just fine, I must have tripped over something," Blake said. "I was daydrea

Chapter 6
The next morning, Blake and Addie, with Kodi in Addie's arms, ran up the stairs to the breakfast nook. A storm was pelting down on the island and they were wet by the time they made it to their table. Donna and Lex, also wet, sat with steaming cups of coffee in front of them. Addie gestured to the waiter to bring two more and then shook herself as she set Kodi down. "You two look like you went swimming with your clothes on." Donna joked. "Oh, you don't look any better." Blake retorted. "That came out of nowhere didn't it?" "We get storms a few times a week, usually on the same day, so this one should clear around ten, then start up around five or so again. Tomorrow will be clear skies again." The waiter set down their coffee's then a bowl for Kodi. Addie thanked her and she walked off. "So what do we do between ten and five?" Blake asked. "Well, we sort of have plans, we're doing the abseiling thing and then a picnic,"

Chapter 7
They'd found the spot easily enough, a small patch of beach opened up as they cleared the trees, with a convenient flat rock that ran into the water that would make it easy to cast. Blake knew something was bothering Addie, she'd acted strangely since she'd come back with the gear. She'd asked her about it, but Addie just said it was nothing and grabbed the basket from her. She'd followed behind Addie, wondering what could have put her in a mood, what could possibly have changed in the fifteen minutes they'd been apart? "This is amazing, you set up the picnic and I'll get the rods ready. Can you bait and cast or do you want me to?""You can show me again, but I want to try that.""Okay, great." They set up and then Blake walked over to Addie, their shoulders brushed as she stood close beside her, watching as she baited her own hook. "You see, easy, just be careful of the tip." Blake followed instructions and was pleased that she only struggled a little wit

Chapter 8
Blake watched Addie in fascination as she prepared the fish they'd brought home to be grilled. They were standing in the kitchen, Blake a glass of wine in her hand, every now and again she would hold Addie's glass up to her mouth so she could take a sip of her own wine. They'd invited Donna and Lex to join them. And for once Donna had agreed to spend the evening with them. Blake was still suspicious of her, knowing she wanted to push Addie and Blake together. Addie grinned up at her, as she closed the fish in tin foil and washed her hands. "So do we make a salad, or rice and veggies?""How about we do salad, it's a nice warm night.""Okay, then I'll leave that to you." They looked up when they heard voices outside and Addie grinned. "Want to play a trick on Donna?" She asked, stepping closer to Blake. "Uh, depends, what do you have in mind?""Kiss?""Kiss? You?"Addie looked around the room. "Yes, me." Addie took another s

Chapter 9
Blake was restless. The cabin was too quiet and she didn't feel like doing anything without Addie and Kodi. The two of them had gone off with Shane, a fishing trip on Shane's boat. Now Blake had no idea what to do with herself. Donna and Lex had a day trip booked for snorkeling and even though they had invited her along, she hadn't wanted to be the third wheel. Coffee cup in hand she stood on the deck of the cabin, looking out over the beach and white sand. Something was pushing at her mind, an idea was forming, but just like before she found it hard to let it come all the way into the light. Frustrated at herself, and a little angry at Addie she made her way inside and sat down at the counter where her laptop stood, open but off. Why did she have to miss Addie? Why could she not just go on with her day without her? She could just curl up and catch up on her favorite author's latest book. Blake decided that sounded like a better plan than staring at her bli
