The In Between
"Are you freaking serious, Della?" Caine shouted behind her in an irritated tone, as she quickly left the room. She was paying him no mind at all and he knew it. She had obviously heard him, though, because she giggled loudly from the kitchen. "What?" she shouted in a very guilty voice, "It's not like I packed her in my suitcase or anything, she snuck in my bag," she said, trying to justify what they both knew she had done. She definitely was not going to mention the fact that she had discovered the little stow away in her bag at the airport before they had ever left to come home. She figured that some things were better left alone. She returned a few moments later with a cup of coffee for them both and a sweet smile on her face. "Besides, we're going back for our wedding in a few weeks, how much trouble could she be until then?" She asked him with pleading eyes and a soft tone in her voice. "That is an insane question Della, did you forget where she came from?" He asked her sarca

Reality
It had been three weeks since Queen Rebecca had taken over and Mister, Pearl and Justin had been "killed". In reality they had been sent scurrying away from the castle and into hiding in the caves behind the waterfall. The very same caves that the legend of Castle Free Sky spoke about. The ones that his great great grandfather had supposedly hidden in after his ship wrecked into the rocks that skirted the sea shore at the bottom of the cliffs at the edge of the castle grounds. They had been surviving by eating whatever they could find, and their patients for the situation were pretty much gone. They were cold, hungry, and mad as hell. It didn't even seem real that Caine could ever have possibly beaten Mister in that blood battle, yet here they were.Mister sat quietly brooding by the puny fire, while Justin and Pearl gathered what little was left of their hunted up food. Pearl was becoming more and more concerned about his mood as she silently watched him from the corner of her eye. S

The Book
Mister knew he needed to calm himself and that he had to act cool around Justin and Pearl until they had fallen all the way asleep. He got himself dressed and went out to the kitchen to see what they had rustled up to eat. He knew they had to be cooking something good, because he could smell it in the air when he opened the bathroom doors. He followed his nose as quickly as possible straight to the pot that was simmering on the stove. "Mmmmm..this smells good, what are you cooking?" He asked with a warm smile on his face. "It's not much, son," Pearl said sweetly, "just a little something to fill our bellies with." "I'm sure it will be delicious," he said with a cool smile, "now let's eat," he told her, "I'm starving." The group went on and settled in for their meals. There were few words spoken between them, mostly due to their sheer exhaustion. Instead, they sat together somberly and enjoyed their food and warm fire in silence. After the meal, Pearl and Justin cleaned up t

Going Back
The weeks had gone by so much faster than Della had expected. The first few days after they had returned home had been pure chaos. Not only did they all have to get caught back up at work, but they had to jump immediately into planning for a baby, finding doctors, and organizing a whole ass wedding. Della felt more tired now than she did when she had finally left the castle. A lot of it may have been due to the little life growing inside of her, but she didn't know enough about being pregnant yet to make the connection. Now she was in her room packing to go back to the castle to meet up with her mother and her crew to make all of the final arrangements for her big day with Caine. Thinking about how close she was to finally getting to marry him put a smile on her face and gave her a sudden burst of happy energy. She started to sing the old country song that her mother used to sing to her when she was small. Whenever she was scared or stressed out, her mom would hug her super tight an

Can You Help Me?
Queen Lacey rolled her eyes in irritation while she waited for Mister to get his sh*t together. When he finally caught his breath, and got his eyes to stop watering, he tried to address her. He opened his mouth to speak but he was finding it incredibly difficult to do so while still trying to breathe without throwing up. "Queen Lacey," he barely managed to get out without gagging, "I need your help, and I am here to try to strike a bargain with you," he told her as solemnly as he could. "Yes….." She hissed back at him, "I can see…..that you most certainly do need my help, but what do you have in return?" She asked him in a most moist and slimy voice. "What do you require?" He asked her point blank. "What I require may be beyond your reach, son," she told him. "Try me, ma'am," he shot back at her flatly. He was not a patient man and it was quickly beginning to show. Irritating him seemed to please her, so she took a few extra seconds to gather her thoughts. After a moment of

Welcome Home
It was getting late in the afternoon when their plane landed at the small private airport that was situated at the bottom of the mountain. It was pretty quiet when Cat and Della left the airplane and made their way back into the terminal. As soon as they got to the common area, Della began trying to call Caine again, but she got no answer. She had a perplexed look on her face as she and Cat wandered over to collect their luggage. Della tried again to call her sister. She was more than irritated when she didn't get an answer there either. "I wonder where everyone is? They couldn't have at least sent a car?" Della fumed. "I don't know girl, but I got us a cab, let's go," Cat told her calmly. "You're awful understanding today, what's going on Cat?" Della asked her friend suspiciously. "Nothing that I know of," Cat told her in a hurry, trying not to make eye contact. "Yeah right, girl, I know you better than this. What is everyone up to?" Della continued to badger her as they struggl

An Offering
The helicopter could be heard landing somewhere way in the back of the property. Cat had no idea of where it was going but she knew for sure that Della was most definitely on it. She was more than anxious to get to it before Della could be taken away and hidden again... or worse. Her body suddenly stiffened at that last thought, and she tried to sit up, but John still had a tight grip on her. She wiggled a little to try to give him the hint to let her go, but he held on tighter instead. When she finally couldn't take it anymore, she turned to him and smiled a really big, flashy smile.John blushed and smiled back with a twinkle in his eye. "Hey John," she said as she giggled sweetly. "Yes ma'am?" He asked with a dreamy smile still on his face. "That helicopter," "Yes?" He asked, with a playful glint now in his eye. "It has Della on it, so if you don't put me down and unhand me right now, I'm going to kick you so hard in the nuts...that your granddaddy will feel it," she told h

Not Again!
Caine was so distraught about the fact that Mister had managed to steal Della from him, yet again, that he had been shifted into his dragon form for hours. He was flying desperately back and forth, in a grid pattern over the area above the entire castle grounds. His pitiful roars and cries could be heard echoing all over the mountain, and down into the valley below. It was a hollow and sad cry, so very sad that the sound of it made you want to hide, for fear that it might actually suffocate you. He flew and he cried for hours into the night, back and forth, back and forth, until Queen Rebecca just couldn't take it anymore. She had come in a little earlier in an attempt to get him to come in for a short rest and some food. It wasn't too long before she figured out that it wasn't going to work. She sighed deeply and reluctantly shifted back into her butterfly creature. She gathered her thoughts and then set out to find her heartbroken brother in law and either bring him in, or help hi

Summoned
Caine and the Queen had been so wrapped up in getting Della to the doctor, that they didn't even care where Mister, Pearl and Justin had gone. Mister took that opportunity to escape them and get back to his great grandmother's castle. He made it back to find that Pearl and Justin had either hidden themselves very well, or left all together. It didn't matter to him either way at the moment, though, because he wasn't there for them. He only briefly looked around as he made his way to the master bedroom to retrieve the book that he had stashed back in its original hiding place under the floor. Once again he pulled the rug back, lifted the board, and reached inside. He felt around in the darkness, but he didn't find it. He just figured that he was missing it because it was dark, so he reached for the flashlight and looked again, but it still wasn't there. He sat back, angry and confused as hell. That's when he caught a glimpse of something silver and shiny caught between the floorboard

Damn Dragons
It was early morning when Della woke up back in the hospital wing. She panicked a little at first, fearing that she had been dreaming about her life over the last few weeks, and that she had been there the whole time. Had her life really all been taken away?? Was she really stuck in this chaos forever? She shot straight up in the bed, she was breathing heavily, and frantically looking around. Caine heard her stirring and he stood up from the chair that he was sleeping in by her bedside. He wrapped his arms around her and he kissed her on the top of her head while he gently rocked her. "It's okay lover, I'm here," he said gently, nuzzling his face in her neck, trying to calm her down. "Oh thank God," she said, as she started to cry, and she pulled him to her tighter. "I thought it was all a dream for a minute. I thought that I had never really found you again, and that I had been here in this damned hospital wing the whole time." "No baby, I'm here," he said, squeezing her with all
