Christmas Eve
~ New York City, 2002~ It was Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year! New York City's streets were decked out with stunning lights and plants. Stephanie stood in front of the Rockefeller Center plaza, marveling at the gorgeous Christmas tree. Thousands of light bulbs were used to ornament the tree, which was capped with a new Swarovski star. Stephanie's wavy black hair flowed loosely on her shoulders as she gazed up and stared at the star with a big smile on her face. She kept her arms crossed under her Beige sweater to keep warm.A red turtleneck and white palazzo trousers were worn underneath the sweater. She accessorized her look with a Saint Laurent medium sunset shoulder bag and a Saint Laurent lace-up boot. Water vapor streamed out of her nostrils as she breathed out. She let out a big exhale, and more water vapor from her mouth. As she stared at the lightbulbs, she became lost in thought. Her mind drifted back to her most recent Christmas Eve in New York City. Christmas Present
Stephanie was still sound asleep when the doorbell rang so loudly in her ears. “What the hell!”She sat up and looked at her desk's timer. It was seven o'clock in the morning. “Has family arrived already?” She pondered as she walked around in her fluffy slippers. As she approached the door, she dragged her feet on the floor. She yawned and wiped her eyes as she yawned and yawned again, still wanting to sleep. When she arrived at the door, she didn't bother to look to see who it was before opening it."All of you..." When she realized it wasn't her family at the door, she took a breath. Sebastian was the culprit. He was dressed in a black denim jacket, a white tee, and blue denim pants. He was dressed in a pair of boots that were not the same as the ones he wore the day before. It also appeared to be quite costly. “Sebastian. "What are you doing here at this hour so early in the morning?" “Merry Christmas, pretty one.” Stephanie's face brightened as he lifted the present he had

"I'm getting a whiff of chocolate muffins!" Stephanie heard the loud and cheerful voice of her 5-year-old sister in her living room. She hurriedly removed the chocolate muffin microwave tray from the oven and set it on the tiled kitchen cabinet. With her apron on, she ran into the living room, removing the oven mitts from her hands."Mom, Dad!" She exclaimed. She rushed to them, and they both hugged her. They all giggled, and as soon as they disengaged, Princess jumped down from Sebastian’s arm. She dashed over to Stephanie and jumped on her like she had Sebastian. "My little Princess," She said. Stephanie laughed as she threw her up in the air. She gave her a firm hug and a kiss on the cheek."Mom, she's so plump now." Princess blushed, and she sheepishly covered her face in Stephanie's shoulder. Everyone in the room burst out laughing at her reaction. “Where is Mary?” Stephanie looked around for her other sibling. Stephanie was born ten years after Mary was born. "She dash

Dinner
Stephanie carried the plate of baked brie to the dining table, and Mary followed behind her with a tray filled with grapes. "Stop licking the honey, Princess!" Sarah yelled from the kitchen, and they all heard her. Princess gladly ran out of the kitchen, giggling. As she ran, her little hands were stained with honey, and she licked it off her fingers. Stephanie caught her and used a napkin to clean her hands. "Princess, please don't get on Mom's nerves." If you're not careful, you'll get spanked." "Mom never spanks her, and that's why she's so stubborn," Mary explained as she set the plates in place."Mary, don't say anything about your sister." That is extremely rude." Sarah entered the room carrying a dish of toasted bread. "I'm sorry, Mom," I say. But she annoys me a lot at times." "Mary, she's still a small girl." Always keep that in mind." Sarah finished setting the table and turned to face Stephanie, who was still cleaning up Princess. "Go ahead and inform them that di

A Stroll around New York City
THE NEXT MORNINGStephanie’s body was fully tucked in her duvet, the cold weather was her favorite. Princess hopped into Stephanie’s room. She got to the bed and climbed up carefully. She climbed on top of Stephanie and laid down flat on her. "Stephanie, get up!" It's 7:00 a.m. When I arrived in New York, you promised to tour me around the city. I'm here now, and you are still sleeping.” She held Stephanie and pouted her lips as she hugged her through the covers. “Princess...” Stephanie grumbled. She cautiously turned to lay on her back so as not to toss Princess off the bed. She drew a hand from under the duvet and held Princess to herself. Princess burst out laughing and kissed Stephanie on the cheek.“Good morning Steph! "It's already 7 a.m." "Princess, we're on vacation." I don't have to wake up at 7 am.” Stephanie gently touched Princess's sparse gold hair. As she did this, her eyes were still closed. "Stephanie, you promised to take me out. Open your eyes,” She tapped St

The name “Owen”
Stephanie ran around the park searching for Princess. She was covered in sweat even though the weather was cold. She feared someone must have kidnapped her little sister. She saw some children at the other end of the park. They were also blowing bubbles. She ran towards them to check if Princess was among them. She searched and searched but still didn't find Princess. “Princess!” She screamed in frustration and kept panting. “Stephanie!” She heard that tiny little voice that she wanted to hear. It was Princess’s voice. “Princess!” She turned to look in the direction of her voice, and she saw her waving at her from the middle of the crowd. She noticed someone carrying her on the shoulder because she could see her above the head of the people. “Oh God, Princess!” She rushed into the crowd and cleared the way with her hands. She kept her eyes on Princess as she moved. She got to where Princess was, and she saw the person carrying her was Sebastian. “Sebastian, what are you doin

Owen stopped searching after a while. He thought he had seen someone he knew but was mistaken. He held his four-year-old son and walked out of the park. “The woman you bumped into, what did she look like?” He asked his son, Tyler. “She was pretty, and she had black hair.” Tyler childishly explained and Owen sighed. He couldn't blame him for not giving a precise description. He was just four. He held Tyler’s hand and walked to his car. “What took you so long? I saw you searching for something in there.” His wife Rebecca said to him after he entered the car. She sat in the front seat with their little daughter, Darla. Darla was almost a year old. “I thought I saw someone,” Owen responded, starting the car. “Is it her?” Owen heaved a sigh and looked at Rebecca. “Why would you even think about that?” “I don't know, I should ask you that. Since we got into Manhattan, you have been acting differently.” “Rebecca, please don't. It’s almost a year since I set my eyes on her.” “Well,

One Last Time
Sebastian carried two bags of goodies in his hand. Princess couldn't stop buying and buying, but he didn't complain. He bought everything she wanted. He opened the backdoor of his car, and Princess hopped in. He placed the bags in the back seat with Princess and shut the door. Stephanie opened the door and hopped in before Sebastian could open up for her. She didn't want him to act like the perfect man the old woman claimed he was. Sebastian smiled widely and walked to the driver’s door. He opened the door and hopped in too. He ignited the engine, and he hit the road back to Manhattan. “Thank you, Sebastian. I enjoyed myself today.” Stephanie said with a beaming smile. “You don't have to thank me. You made my visit to the ice cream shop memorable. I can't leave my beautiful Princess out. Both of you made my day.” “And about it being the No.1 ice cream in New York...I think I agree with that. The banana split was amazing. I would love to have it every day.” “You can have it every

The Race
Sebastian drove down to the Velocity driving race track. The race track had very full LED lights that covered the whole place. It was like daytime. Immediately the other racers saw him approaching, they began to yell and wave their hands. Sebastian giggled as he drove to them. “Why are they so excited?” Stephanie asked, grinning widely. “They are all my friends. I would do the same for any one of them.” “So you love each other so much even though you compete?” “Yes, Stephanie. There is no award for the winner. We race for fun.” They got to where his friends were and he parked the car with the other cars. Some of them wore jumpsuits and some wore casual sportswear. “Who is in the car with him?” Robbie, Sebastian’s very good friend, asked no one in particular. He narrowed his gaze as he watched them alight. They all raised their brows immediately and set their eyes on Stephanie. “Ooouuu... She is damn hot!” His male friends uttered, folding their hands in circles over their mouth

“How did you do that!” Robbie yelled, hitting Sebastian on the shoulders. “Do what?”“You overtook all of them in the twinkle of an eye! How I have to give all my money to her.” He pouted his mouth like a baby after he finished talking. “You placed a bet?” “Yes. She placed her bet on you, and I placed my bet on Tony. Unfortunately, you won and I have to give her all my cash.” Sebastian looked at Stephanie, and she smiled. “It was just for fun. You don't have to give me the money. I wasn’t going to release mine either, if he didn’t win.” “Thank you so much! Now I can have more cash for us to celebrate. So, where are we going tonight, Sebastian?” “You know where I would go after such an incredible race. You don’t have to ask me.” They both laughed, and Stephanie stared at them speechlessly. She had no idea what they were talking about. Robbie looked at Stephanie and saw she was lost in thoughts. “It’s the Old town bar, Stephanie. I still don’t understand why he is so old fashion
