Yes, it has some very sexy moments but overall it is a romantic comedy and not pure erotica. In the mean time, these books get steam right. There is more than just physical attraction and they set up the tension so that when things finally do happen, it feels so earned.

There are many MM audiobooks that are loaded with steam. Tessa Bailey’s “Heat Stroke” is a summer romance about two young male lifeguards that features lots of hot sexy time. Most of that time is spent at the beach in the sun, making everything feel very hot and sultry. “For Real” by Alexis Hall is another great audiobook, featuring a man who enters into a BDSM relationship and all of the intense commands and surrender that goes with it. I found the audio to be very moving and feel that it did a great job of portraying all of the relationships within the book. Paranormal M/M is also a genre that I enjoy and “Wolfsong” by TJ Klune is an excellent choice for those who are looking for something a little different.

Hockey romance is my favorite sport, no surprise that ‘Heated Rivalry’ by Rachel Reid made the list. While it’s a romance, the two male leads start off as rivals and their encounters are red hot. The pacing of the audiobook was perfection as it made me so anxious for the two to get back to each other. How to Bang a Billionaire by Alexis Hall is another item on this list. While the novel is quite lighthearted and almost playful, it’s absolutely packed with steam. I found that the narrators of both novels were able to really bring out the physical scenes as well as the emotion behind them.

I try to keep my list of sub-only M/M romance audiobooks to earners that are of real value to the listener, and right now M/M romance with scorching scenes is where it’s at for me. If you’re new to the genre, I highly recommend historical fantasy “The Magpie Lord” by KJ Charles. It’s a slow burn story that erupts in lovely, hot, scenes of sex – all of which are read beautifully by Cornell Collins in this audiobook. For contemporary stories, while “Red, White & Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston does have a few scenes of intimacy between its male main characters, they are really not the focus of the book, and rather are subordinate to the emotional connection between the two men. As such, they are not really the kind of scenes that would earn this a spot on a list of sub-only M/M romance audiobooks. Rather, I’d recommend trying the first book in Ella Frank’s “Temptation” series, “Try”. The scenes of sex between the book’s lawyer main character and the bartender main character are absolutely scorching, and this is a really well-read audiobook that will make you feel every touch and word of endearment between the two men.

If you want something a little darker and more intense, Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat is a great choice. It’s an enemies-to-lovers story set in a fantasy world, with lots of build-up before things get explosive. And the audiobook is great too – Kyle McCarley does a wonderful job bringing all the tension and power dynamics and desire to life. For paranormal sex, I liked The Alpha’s Warlock by Eliot Grayson, which was sexy and had a decent plot. Many of these audiobooks have great narration, which is key to really feeling the intimacy – finding voices that can make a sigh or moan sound really great.
