I'd love to be wrong, but all evidence points to no. No press releases, no publisher announcements, no pre-orders. The silence is pretty telling.

I'd argue the most interesting evolution isn't the protagonist himself, but how the world's perception of him changes. He begins as 'Lin Feng the trash,' invisible and disrespected. Every step of his growth forces the various clans and sects to constantly re-evaluate him, from curious upstart to grave threat to eventual untouchable monarch. The novel does a great job showing the political ripple effects of a single person's rise. His actions inadvertently create new alliances and ignite ancient grudges. You see the world adapt to his presence, with some factions scrambling to curry favor and others dedicating all resources to eliminating him before it's too late. The protagonist's journey is mirrored by the shifting social and power landscape around him, making his evolution feel impactful on a macro scale.

It's a power system built for spectacular visuals. Imagine an anime adaptation—every breakthrough would be a blinding light show, every technique a burst of incandescent color. The progression is designed to look and feel incredible. From summoning small tongues of flame to eventually cloaking oneself in a corona of plasma and summoning spectral solar phoenixes, the ability evolution is a visual spectacle on the page.
This makes the fight scenes exceptionally vivid. You can almost see the heat haze distorting the air, feel the blistering light. The cultivation progression directly feeds into the cinematic quality of the action. Even if the underlying mechanics are familiar, the presentation in combat is where this novel's system truly shines and justifies its singular focus on the sun theme.

Has the author released any side stories or prequels? Not that I'm aware of. So, no need for a fancy order. It's a single, monstrously long narrative thread.
Sometimes with web novels, the early chapters have rougher translation quality, and it improves later. Push through it; the story itself becomes more engaging once the world opens up beyond the initial sect.
But the sequence never changes. Beginning, middle, and a very, very distant end.

I just listen to the audiobook, and all the similar-sounding clan names are impossible to track! The narrator helps a bit with voices, but I've given up on the minutiae. The big picture is there's the good guys' clan (the one the MC likes), the bad guys' clan (the one that betrayed someone), and a bunch of neutral clans that flip-flop depending on who's winning. That's all the politics I need to enjoy the cool fight scenes.

My personal take: Read until about chapter 1500 of the main story, then take a break and read the 'Hegemon's Origins' sidestory. It hits different when you already know the character's endgame potential.

Why would there be any order other than 1, 2, 3...? This isn't the 'Monogatari' series. It's a web novel turned print publication with a very direct storyline. Maybe the confusion comes from some sites listing chapter numbers in the thousands? But even then, the volumes just compile those chapters in order. Start at the lowest number and work your way up.

From a pure battle tactics perspective, the need to 'rotate' between active suns mid-fight is genius. A cultivator can't use all nine at full power simultaneously without risking a meltdown. So combat becomes a dynamic game of switching stances—from an aggressive 'Blazing Sun' assault to a defensive 'Turtle Sun' guard to a mobile 'Swift Sun' repositioning. It's like a fighter changing styles on the fly, which makes every duel a visually and strategically shifting spectacle.
It rewards adaptability and quick thinking. An opponent might be strong against your current active sun, forcing you to cycle to another, which takes a moment of vulnerability. This creates natural pacing and tension in fights, with opportunities for counterattacks and clever plays. It's a system designed for exciting, multi-phase battles.
