What Are The Different Endings In Room No 9 Visual Novel?

Currently at a choice where it warns 'your decision will affect the ending.' Spoilers are okay—I'm more curious about secret routes or bonus conclusions beyond the basic finale.

'Room No. 9' is a relatively short horror game and thus has a relatively small amount of endings for the main characters - a few good ones and a few very bad ones that reveal more about the twisted rules of the game. If you like stories that blend genres to confuse and puzzle the reader, you might want to look at the web novel 'A Horror Game or an Otome Game'. The story literally confines the female heroine to a deadly horror scenario, but she must also make choices as if she were playing a romantic Otome game, with the ultimate application of genre depending on her choices.

While the number of ends can be overwhelming for some genres, ‘Room No. 9’ makes great use of them to create atmosphere. Of course you will fail and see awful things, but that’s part of the dread. It makes the connections you do get to feel even more special.

Some of the bad ends are just quick game over sequences, but a lot of them are incredibly long and very sad. Some of the end sequences are even as long as the “right” route. It’s worth playing a few of the ends blind to get the shock value of them, and then to see how amazing the writing is.

Honestly? I think the 'good' endings for the story are actually kind of boring because they wrap up the story too nicely for a story about these super messy and traumatic memories.

So, no. Let the characters’ traumatic memories unravel to a messy, unsatisfactory and even painful ending. I don’t need a ‘good’ ending. Instead, I’d rather see all the characters walking off separately, never to be heard of again. It’s a powerful, haunting and real way to be left by a game, in my opinion.

There is no one ‘right’ way to end the game and no single ending tells the ‘full’ story. Instead you must gather together the pieces of information from each of the endings and try to make sense of them in the overlap between them and in the contradictions between different endings.

This approach turns the player into an active detective instead of a passive reader. Rather than just experiencing the different endings, the player has to collect all the evidence from the different realities to finally piece together what really must have happened. This is a great way to design a mystery.

I really love the different endings of the game. I went into this expecting a typical mystery/thriller story and instead every ending reveals an even deeper layer of the psychological puzzle that I wasn’t even aware was there.

The revelation in the ‘Collective Silence’ ending about what the room actually is was amazing. I even went back to start the whole game again looking for all of the clues I had missed earlier that all suddenly became very obvious in relation to this alternative conclusion to the story. The writing is so tight that every seemingly irrelevant detail from the early chapters is justified by at least one of the endings.

Oh yeah, it dropped. No ending. I read through everything that was there in one sitting, and then the silence after the last panel was kind of ironic to the title of the book. Don’t read this thinking it’s going to end somewhere.

How does the shootist film ending differ from the novel?

8 Answers2025-10-22
The ending of 1976’s The Shootist was greatly altered from Glendon Swarthout’s novel for the film. In the book, J.B. Books dies alone in the street after his gunfight with Checkers. In the film, his code is slightly broken when he shoots the last bad guy in the back in defiance. Most such films take great liberty in adapting a story to the screen. For a completely different example of a story about a character with a strict moral code, a professional killer in a fantasy setting would have the internal conflict of a target who is against his employer’s wishes and the consequences of his decision to kill or not would be the entire story.

What happens at the ending of My Senpai is Annoying Vol. 9?

Vol. 9 of ‘My Senpai is Annoying’ finally ends the long wait for a slow-burning relationship between Sakurai and her senpai Kazama. The buildup of tons of teasing and almost but not quite moments is all finally put to rest in this lovely volume, where Kazama confesses his love in his typical ‘him’ fashion, of course. And of course Sakurai blushes and gets flustered in front of half the office, but it’s also adorable to see her try and play it cool while at the same time getting embarrassed and delighted at the same time. A lot of emotion can be packed into a light story, and Kumorin does a great job of keeping things where they are while still packing in some serious feelings. My favorite panel is Sakurai’s small smile of happiness for herself in the midst of chaos. This is the heart of Senpai, and it’s wonderful to read.

What is the ending of 'Soredemo Tsuma o Aishiteru Alternative'?

I disagree with this, as any ending to this book would have been controversial. A completely happy ending to FLyAgent and Jean would have been moraly repugnant and a terrible read. On the other hand, a completely destructive ending to both would have felt somewhat punitive. What we got is a very messy, very uncomfortable, very morally ambiguous ending. The time jump shows them to be functioning individuals, but clearly still affected by their past. They do not get to start over, they have to carry the weight of what they've done. The final panel is actually a very powerful piece of visual storytelling as it focuses on a very mundane item that brings back memories of the past. It is not a traditionally satisfying ending, but it is thematically consistent with the rest of the book.

How does the ending of the glassmaker novel differ from its film?

Weather is a minor detail of a story or even a symbol. The end of the novel Deep Winter is set in deep winter and the focus is on the isolation of the main characters and the inner fire they need to survive. The end of the film is set in late spring/early summer and shows growth, renewal and the communal warmth that the main characters need. The season is not just a background detail and here it is an active metaphor for the main characters’ inner state. Winter equals self-reliance. Spring equals community and rebirth. Thus the filmmakers did not only change the plot but also the entire environment of the ending of the story in order to support their new thematic conclusion.

For writers, those tiny free browser VNs are an inspiration. Getting to see how other writers use their space to lay out their story, their characters, their dialogue, and their player’s choices is amazing. It’s like a course on minimalist writing. You see immediately what you can keep in and what you have to cut. I got more ideas from playing three tiny odd browser VNs than I got from a dozen writing how-to guides online. It’s just so cool to see that something as simple as a short free browser-based VN can be made, and that all a good story needs is an idea and the guts to put it out there. Often the semantic imperfections of the presentation itself actually add to the VN’s charm and power, highlighting the core emotional truth of the story in a really beautiful way. They’re raw, uncut, and I love ’em.

How to download visual novels free online safely?

Years ago, I contracted a nasty virus while attempting to download Katawa Shoujo from a mirror site. After that ordeal, I made sure to only download free VNs from official websites listed on vndb.org or from a developer’s own itch.io profile. While there are some aggregator sites that host free VNs for download, I never download games that are only available through such sites. With thousands of free and legitimate VNs out there, I figure missing out on one title isn’t worth the risk. Using a download manager to scan files as they download can also help to catch any potential viruses – some download managers even have virus scanning capabilities integrated into them. Better to safe than sorry, I figure – it’s a lot easier to reformat a drive when it’s healthy than it is when it’s been infected with a virus and needs to be reinstalled from scratch.

What happens in the ending of Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs Vol. 6?

I agree with you though that the biggest element of this ending is far and above the criticisms of the plot, and that is the line Angie says to Leon in this scene: “You can complain all you want, but you’re stuck with us now.” He’s stuck with the title, the work, and the people. And, despite his typical grumbling, I don’t think he’d trade it for the world. It’s a beautiful scene of acceptance, classically delivered in tsundere fashion.

What is the ending of I became a Godin a Horror Game?

I have almost no recollection of the end of this book. It’s been ages since I read it (during a long late-night reading binge), and I vaguely recall feeling somewhat fulfilled but somewhat empty afterwards, like I had just finished a huge project. Perhaps the main character stayed behind to run things or something. I should re-read this. Does anyone have a link to a good summary of this book? The discussions on this have made me consider returning to this.

Where to play online visual novels free without ads?

7 Answers2025-08-19
The ‘Canvas’ section of Webtoon’s home page includes a ‘Story Games’/‘Interactive Stories’ category, which are primarily read as linear comics but some creators use the interactivity to create choose-your-own-adventure style visual novels that can be read within the Webtoon app or on the Webtoon website. Note that while the Webtoon platform itself includes ads, they are ads between episodes/chapters, and not ads overlaid on the art itself. Thus, while a banner ad between chapters is required to support these stories, there are some very high quality interactive stories being created for Webtoon, read entirely for free. This is a ‘hybrid’ model in which the content itself is ad-free.
