What Is The Ouran Highschool Anime Novel Ending Explained?

The anime Ouran ends perfectly to leave room for further imagination. Haruhi’s way from a scholarship student to a Host Club member is shown in a very funny but also sad way in this episode. First, the whole Host Club pretends to say good bye to Haruhi in a fake farewell party. In this situation, Haruhi’s friends finally grow up. Tamaki confesses his love (kind of) to Haruhi, the twins Buddha and Jesus accept Haruhi as their friend, and even management Kyoya shows his soft side. In the manga, the story continues with Haruhi, but the anime ends perfectly as it shows the main message of Ouran: life is too short to be serious. The last scene of all friends laughing together contains so much serotonin.

Ouran High School Host Club ends very similarly to how you would expect a cake of that kind to end: extremely sweet and sometimes even a bit of a mess, but wonderful nonetheless. Because the anime wasn’t able to include the final chapters of the manga, Haruhi’s development does not reach its full potential. However, we can follow her on her way once she realises that she does not need to change in order to be accepted by the Host Club. They like her just the way she is. Tamaki’s confession was extremely funny, and Kyoya’s simple smile in the background is simply the best.

Compared to the manga, Ouran High School Host Club the anime did not explore the possibilities after graduation. It did not delve into the romantic relationships of the main characters either. But because of that the ending focuses more on the Host Club as family, especially between the main heroine Haruhi and the twins and Ritsu who matures a lot throughout the series. The event with the broken vase is also recalled and it is no longer about the money that was lost in it, but the memories that they shared while it was broken. If you need more closure about the other characters then you can read the manga but the anime ends perfectly as it is because it celebrates the chaos of life, love and all the zany things in between.

The ending of Ouran High School Host Club always makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, while at the same time it makes me slightly sad. Haruhi could have gone back to her dad’s school of choice, but no, she decided to stay at Ouran instead. The Host Club throws her a huge farewell party, but really they just didn’t want to let her go. Tamaki’s confession to Haruhi was as dramatic as ever, but also hilarious. After that we get to see Haruhi and Tamaki as well as the rest of the Host Club members grow up. We also get to see how Haruhi’s relationships with everyone in the Host Club are going to develop in the future, especially her relationship with Tamaki. The ending is perfect, it leaves you wanting more but it’s also really satisfying.

The anime ends as beautifully as it begins, too. Haruhi never does get to throw a proper good-bye party to smash Ouran’s prized vase. She eventually gives in and returns to the Host Club as usual, and the rest of the club throws her a farewell to stay in. In the end, as in the beginning, she smashes another Host Club vase. The cycle of events is completed, with her fully accepted in her new found family. The ending is wonderful, a beautiful love letter to friendships and to self-acceptance, and while the novel (manga) goes on to discuss their graduation and future careers, this is all beautifully wrapped up in the anime as well. The last shot of them all laughing and having fun together makes me smile every time I watch it.
