Lucas POV I inhale deeply, taking in the mouth-watering scent of roasted walnuts. I have always liked her scent, but I could never place it. For some reason, it has become so strong there is no doubt what it is. I nuzzle into the side of her neck. “You are so beautiful, and I don't think I could ever get enough of you.” Reed starts placing kisses on the other side of her neck, as he says. “I agree, brother, she does smell divine and her body feels amazing under my touch. We should mark her as ours now. Can you smell how much she wants us too?” Heather POV I just want to get off this road and away from this feeling of being watched. As that thought goes through my head my car is hit from the side. I'm not sure what hit me but I'm pinned between the seat and all the airbags. I'm still trying to clear my fuzzy head when I hear what sounds like footsteps coming towards the car. I feel a sharp jab in the side of my neck. Before I back out I get the hint of a familiar scent.

My Alpha mate, Kane, finally reached out through the mind-link after three days of me not showing up at his door to make a scene. His voice cut into my head, carrying a rare trace of satisfaction. "Looks like you finally understand that the rules of the Blackwood Pack aren't just for show. Since you've learned your lesson, I'll give you the pass to the healing springs. And stop making a fuss over every little thing where Selena's concerned." I didn't answer. Just looked down at the bloodstains still dried between my thighs. Kane probably thought I'd finally learned to obey. Learned to bow my head to him and Selena. No one believed that I, as Luna, had to apply to Beta Selena just to use the healing springs for my pregnancy. All because Kane decided I wasn't fit to handle pack affairs and handed all of my authority over to her. Three days ago, my baby's heartbeat grew unstable. I submitted another application to soak in the healing springs. Selena rejected it on grounds of incomplete paperwork. I lost the baby. I replied to Kane's mind-link, my voice flat. "Okay. Thanks." He didn't know. That was my final answer. Tomorrow, I was leaving for good.
