100 Essential Books - Scratch Off Bucket List Novels & Stories

I raised my hand to knock, only to pause when I realized that the door stood slightly ajar. Voices drifted towards me. “Come on, Steven! Tell me.” “I’m busy, Thomas.” “This is important!” One of them groaned. For a few minutes, silence filled the room before the sound of shuffling papers broke it. A chair creaked. “Thomas—” “I need to know what—” “You need nothing. I told you from the start that using the bucket list is going to be a mistake. Albany isn’t a toy, Thomas. She’s not one of your booty calls either,” Steven said.

“Ariadne.” Even the books here were ones I’d already read repeatedly. There were only so many times I could read about the '100 Greatest Battles of Wolf Kind' or 'The Twenty Steps of a Successful Luna' before beginning to hate even the thought of picking a book up. But even if I asked someone to go to the library for me, it was unlikely there would be many books in there that I hadn’t already read at least once. Leather pants and jacket. Calvin Klein underwear. A few mesh shirts. Anything hot you come across.. My eyebrows shoot toward my hairline when I get to the next item.

I didn’t make it far, just up to an abandoned park, it’s where my car died, it wouldn’t start anymore but it was okay, that’s as far as I’m going from here. Lulu, my stuffed grey wolf with purple eyes was my one and only loyal friend, she was with me when I spent the six dollars, when I was too hungry and was ready to beg for food. She was also hidden in my backpack when I applied for the job in the local library, I always had a weak spot for the books and stories, when they took me I couldn’t be happier.

he called back, his voice warm as sunlight. The sound of the door clicking shut was the last thing I heard before sleep reclaimed me, pulling me back into its embrace. *** I found myself rummaging through a stack of books that likely belonged to Jacob from his university years. None of them were fiction. These were all about life lessons and self-improvement. Titles like Rich Mindset and Atomic Habits caught my eye, their well-worn spines suggesting they had been thoroughly read. But one title stood out above the rest, stopping me cold:
