I wouldn't get the wish, I wouldn't see Deshawn again, I wouldn't rid my chest of his horribly heavy feeling. Deshawn closed his eyes, accepting the fact that we had failed but how could I resign like that? Not when I had all the power in my enclosed fist. Not when it was so close. All I had to do was swallow my pride and dive headfirst. The time ticked by. I knew if I didn't do it before the clock struck 10:01 then I'd never get the chance ever again. All for a stupid wish. Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.

Serenity said. "But my wishes, they’re all about you," Jackson said, eyes hooded. He gently held her index finger in his hand, spreading it and gesturing the number '1'. "First, I wish you'll celebrate my birthday every year until I die." Serenity was stunned. Next, he spread her middle finger, making a '2' sign. "Secondly, I wish you'll never leave me." Jackson fell silent after telling his second wish. He kept staring at her hand but hesitated to say his third wish.

He went over and read one. I wish that I didn’t have to move. I wish that Dad’s didn’t have to go to California. Also, I wish for a puppy that doesn't make me sneeze. The innocence of the wish hit him like a hard punch to the gut. He read the next snowflake. I wish my mom didn’t have to worry about her job. I wish that she could be happy again. Also, I wish for a unicorn. That one was marked with Molly’s name.

I said disbelief "But the girls will pull you everywhere with them" "We can spend time together some other times" "They're annoying" He hissed and I laughed. I looked at his watch and it's almost 12 "Make your last wish for this birthday" I said and he raised his eyebrows "It's 11.57" I said pointing at the watch "Last wish?" "Yeah" "Will you make it happen?" Huh? I looked at him confuse "I want to marry you next year" That got me speechless

Belle passed me the ink and a small slip of paper. “Write your wish,” she said, beaming. But as I stared at the blank sheet, my mind went just as empty. What could I possibly wish for? Time slipped away while I hesitated, lost in thought. Then, suddenly, it was our turn. I scribbled down the first thing that came to mind— Happiness. We folded our wishes and tucked them gently into the lanterns. When mine lit up, the soft glow cast a golden hue on our faces before it drifted upward, joining dozens of others in the night sky like silent prayers carried off by the wind.
