One of them is leading the charge, twenty or so yards ahead of the others. Curling my hands, I reach into my deep, inner well. "Then we'll fight." Alec stops, determination on his face. The first goblin launches itself at me, and I raise my arm to bat it away. Pain shoots through my arm. Yelping, I grab it. The goblin drops in front of me and chuckles. "It's made out of stone or something!" I hiss in pain. Alec kicks at the thing, but it doesn't budge. Instead, Alec ends up hopping up and down, clutching his foot.

She switched on a little flashlight and held it with her mouth while when flipped through the pages of the first book she took out. There was nothing interesting in it so she returned it to the shelf and picked out another. The books were arranged chronologically so she just had to go to the decade that interests her and make a choice. After checking through five books, she couldn't find what she had been looking for. She realized everything looked quite simple until one attempted doing it. She stepped back tiredly and her foot hit a table behind her, making the books fall loudly to the ground.

I spend my effort in vain as the hinges creak and the echo reverberates off the walls, making everyone within the corridor know that someone is opening the council door and those within the council room, aware that someone is shamefully late. I step into the room, heat stirring the blood in the sides of my face, and turn to close the door. I take some time to compose myself before committing my face to the council, which at present comprises my older half-brother, Valark, the Army Commander, Gunther, and the King, our Alpha.

Cayden took the things to be tested, glanced at the record paper, and continued to ask, "Winston, how long has this person probably died? You haven't said anything yet." Winston's hand that was packing up the case table paused for a moment, but he didn't answer. Instead, he asked Cayden, "Cayden, how long has Aryanna escaped?" Cayden was stunned when he heard what Winston said. He then answered, "It's been three years, Winston.
