What had come next had taken fifteen years to arrive. Don read the letter again. He saw, in the editor's words, something he had not anticipated. The editor had not simply been a professional facilitator of the books' publication. She had been a reader. Not a reader like the general audience — a reader inside the argument in a way that only the person closest to the making could be. She had read every draft of every book. She had written comments in the margins. She had called him when a section was not working and had said: "The argument is not here yet, but it is approaching." She had been the first reader of everything he had written for fifteen years.

They were disappointed by the unexpected turn of events, and their desires remained unsatisfied. A crewman approached Xavier, gently extending a book that the mysterious author had borrowed the night before. Xavier's interest was immediately sparked as he opened the book, his gaze drawn directly to a marked page that held a surprise. As his gaze settled on the paper, Xavier was overcome with awe. At the very beginning of the specified page, there was a note written by the enigmatic author himself. It was a private message, intended just for Xavier, a reader who adored the author's work.

Someone that was staring at her. ‘Oh crap.’ “Sorry,” She mouthed and he shrugged. They started again by reading the first chapter together. Xeelany listened attentively to each word as she slowly progressed through each sentence. She tried to concentrate on every single syllable as she felt as if her mind was being filled with water from all those words flowing over each other in a never ending flow. “You should really try harder at understanding these,” Xavier chuckled as he put a bookmark in the book they were currently reading and closed it. “You’ve barely gotten through a fourth chapter now.”
