Outside, through the storm clouds, the sky had split, one full moon glowing pale and white, another haloed faintly in red behind it, as if the heavens themselves couldn’t decide which to show. The space between the moons is not nothing. It is, in fact, where we live. She had read it many times. She understood it now in the way she understood things that had been true before she named them. The space between the moons was not the dramatic arc. The space between the moons was not the peak of the thing or the arrival of the thing or the naming of the thing.

It had always been him. Mike. He even conquered me in my dreams. He never left me alone. Then, suddenly I was lost in darkness. Pitch black darkness everywhere I looked. But suddenly a beautiful woman came near me. She was dressed in white. Her hair was white as well. She hugged me. She comforted me. "Don't be afraid my child. I am the moon goddess. You are never alone. He is your world." she spoke. A knock on the door woke me up. It was my mom who came to wake me up.

Her pale purple eyes sparkled, flecked with hints of silver—a distinct mark of being Moon-Kissed. Soon, she thought, her mate would see her as she saw herself: beautiful, unique, a prize worthy of any Alpha’s daughter.
