"You scoundrel! If you're not a coward, get down here! Stop hiding in the tree!" There were two squirrels on the tree, one big and one small. The big one threw a small pinecone onto Rolf's head. "Hey! Are you a squirrel or a bully? How dare you mess with me! You're toast!" Rolf rolled up his sleeves and started climbing the tree, looking determined to have a showdown with the squirrel. Alvin, meanwhile, was preparing breakfast. Noticing my gaze, he gently looked at me and kindly greeted me, "Tabitha."

I ignored him and I didn't forget to glare at him, too. “Angry?” One Word asked. “Aww. Little Scarlet is angry because we hurt her little boyfriend.” If it were somebody else who used the word “little’ for me, I would've been mad, but knowing it was coming from Brian, who was a giant taller than average giants, made it sound like a half compliment. I glared at him. “Stop glaring. You're cuter when you smile,” Brian said. That only made me glare at him more. “In our defence, he tried to fight us.”

I looked at the men around me, and they didn't acknowledge it in the slightest. I watched a little sparrow land on a branch. "I want to see her closer," I heard a voice announce, and it shockingly matched the beak movement of the little sparrow. It practically sang the words along with its birdsong. They were still coming. But how would they ever reach me up here? A sound made me whip around. Movement in the nest. Something shifting among the sticks and branches. My blood ran cold. I wasn't alone after all. Three baby birds, each the size of a large dog, huddled in the center of the nest. Their mouths gaped open, making high-pitched chirping sounds. They were hungry. And I was trapped in their nest.

The Alessio, the eldest of the three says. "Yes, cause there's an Aunty May here with me." I glance at my secretary who chuckles and takes a seat.
