The Darkest Devotion

The Darkest Devotion

“Thanks.” He reaches into his coat pocket and retrieves a small black box. “Happy birthday.” He slides it across the table. Excited, I grab it and open it. Yes, I am a sucker for gifts, and Papa is a big gifter. It’s how, despite how annoying he can be, he always manages to stay on my good side. A soft gasp leaves my lips as I see the content of the box. Inside is a gold bracelet, delicate and glittering with small diamonds. It’s stunning, just like everything else he gives me.

The Last Leaf of Devotion

The Last Leaf of Devotion

In that moment, Ansel's last shred of sanity broke. He stumbled backward, slamming into the shelf behind him before crumpling to the floor. His voice shook, barely more than a whisper. "Odessa… how can this be? Then who have I been seeing these past days? The legend of the Seven-Day Resurrection… it's real… I—" His words collapsed under the weight of the truth. Sobs tore from his chest as he slapped himself hard across the face. "I'm sorry, Odessa! This is my fault! I got you killed! I'm nothing but a worthless bastard!"

DEVIL AT MORNING DAWN

DEVIL AT MORNING DAWN

I stated before putting my phone off. "Man, he is trying hard. He won't eat, Ledger," I told him, amazed by the action my father was pulling. "If I were you, I'd find a woman on contract and pay her," he uttered, taking his alcohol. I nodded, adjusting my collar. "I will be with you shortly; an angel is waiting for me," I smirked.

Sin That Binds

Sin That Binds

“What the hell am I meant to do with this?” The monk’s eyes burned with irritation at his swear word and Eli gulped, whispering an apology. Turning away from him for a moment, he returned with a large bible and plopped it on the desk. “Open the book of proverbs chapter 30, verse 8. And read it aloud.” It took a moment for Eli to find it, but when he did, he cleared his throat and croaked. “‘Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither povery nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.”

CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL

CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL

“I wanted every breath you took today to smell like something beautiful. I wanted you surrounded by something soft… because your life hasn’t always been soft.” Her smile faltered slightly at that. His eyes darkened with regret. Not because he shouldn’t have said that, but because he was part of the reasons her life wasn’t soft. “You deserve good, Becca,” he muttered. “You deserve peace. You deserve to wake up and not worry about who’s plotting against you. You deserve to be loved loudly.” She swallowed. “And this?” She gestured around them, her voice shaking. “This is loud.” Axel’s lips stretched into a smile.

Resurrected (Book #9 in the Vampire Journals)

Resurrected (Book #9 in the Vampire Journals)

She was desperate for help, and she silently prayed for a miracle. She felt weak. She went to the pews and sat a few rows from the front. As she did, she looked up and noticed an open Bible. It was a thick book, and the header read: The New Testament, The Book of Luke. She scanned the pages, looking for a sign, wondering if her prayer had been answered. She read: “I grant you power and authority over every demon, power and authority over every disease.” Her heart raced. Was it a message?

Taming the Devil

Taming the Devil

"Do you want me to help you take a shower?" "No, I can." I got up. I like him being rough with me and then gentle. Although he was trying his best not to drain my energy. I took a shower and had breakfast with him. Since it was Sunday, Ryan intended on working from home while I was already done with the drafts for the collection which I will be launching soon. However, my head is still filled with plenty of ideas for the upcoming projects but it doesn't hurt to take a day off, right? Before, I would indulge myself into this boring Ryan-less environment, I got a text from Beth.

The Millionaire's Bride

The Millionaire's Bride

The white-capped waves that crashed along the jagged cliffs had lulled her to sleep each night, and the terrace where she read her devotionals in the mornings provided the perfect view of the Mediterranean Sea. Alexa had awoken with the sun each morning on their vacation. Jetlag and the changes in her schedule were distracting enough to send her stirring at an earlier hour than Salvatore, so she used the time to study Scripture. She and Salvatore had taken a few journeys into the nearby towns, and although they had no neighbors to observe, she knew the villages were waking with the dawn. Pulling her blanket tighter around her shoulders, she stared at the passage before her. Proverbs 28:13 re

I enjoyed each of the sweet stories. However, I am not sure how the characters of Gabe and Celina in story two became Brian and Leah in story three while all the other characters, including their daughter, kept the same names.

The story in the introduction is Chapters 1-24. Then it’s different stories with new characters (Ch 25-55; 56-84; 85-117). Love how the relationships developed between Alexa & Salvatore / Celina & Gabe / Sara & Ian / Camille & Noah. Love how God, prayer, and faith were emphasized in each story.

Frequently Asked Questions

Finding the right devotional book can be like stumbling upon a treasure trove of inspiration. Personally, I've dived into a few that have truly resonated with me over the years. One standout is 'Jesus Calling' by Sarah Young. It's a beautiful collection that feels like a direct conversation with God. Each day's reading invites you into a space of reflection and peace, which I find incredibly grounding. It's perfect for those hectic days when you just need a moment of stillness. I love how the entries encourage you to think about your day with a fresh perspective, cultivating a mindset of gratitude and trust.

Another gem I cherish is 'The One Year Bible.' This is fantastic for anyone looking to get through the whole Bible in a year, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. Each day includes a passage from the Old Testament, the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. I appreciate how it offers a well-rounded approach to scripture, and there's something powerful in experiencing the consistent flow of the biblical narrative. When I follow this daily, I always find connections between the readings that spark deeper reflections for me.

'Prayers for People Who Don’t Like to Pray' by James Martin is also worth mentioning. It's quirky, relatable, and offers a fresh take on prayer for those moments when I struggle to find the right words. It’s packed with short, heartfelt prayers that guide you through various life situations. I often flip to it when I need a little boost or a reminder that it’s okay to ask for help or express my feelings in simple terms.

Lastly, I can’t ignore 'Morning and Evening' by Charles Spurgeon. This classic is like a spiritual buffet, serving up deep insights for both morning and evening reflections. Spurgeon’s writings always engage me; he dives deep into the scripture, yet the language is accessible, which is quintessential for those fluctuating between feeling inspired and simply looking for comfort. The dual nature of morning and evening readings helps me start and end my day with a focus on faith.

Each of these books has a unique flavor and can assist anyone on their spiritual journey. They’ve definitely added layers to my daily routine and helped me nurture my faith in both peaceful and chaotic moments. Reading through them daily has become a sort of ritual, and I can't imagine my days without those precious few moments of reflection.
