“Yes.” “And I need answers.” “Yes.” “So?” “So we wait.” “For how long?” He thought. “Forty-eight hours.” I laughed. “What?” “You think you’re getting on a plane forty-eight hours after abdominal surgery?” “Yes.” “No.” “Then seventy-two.” “No.” “Myra.” “Nicholas.” Damion looked at Chase. “Are they always like this?” Chase smiled. “Apparently.” Nicholas looked at me. “Five days.” “Seven.” He frowned.

Contract muscle. Another voice answered. Rougher. Bored. “Boss says we stay put. She’s busy in the city with the transition team.” Transition team. My jaw tightened reflexively, but my body stayed limp. Transition. That wasn’t a random word. That was political. Corporate. Power shifting hands. “She won’t be here for forty-eight hours,” the second man continued. “We have two days to keep them alive.” Forty-eight hours. Two days. The numbers locked into my head instantly. I didn’t let myself react. Didn’t let my breathing change.

An unknown contact, yet the content is unmistakable – a picture of a battered Daren accompanied by a chilling message: "72 hours are up, Elena."

I asked. "How long before the memory loss becomes permanent? Oh, I'd say you have about six hours before the damage is irreversible." Agent Chen was already on her radio, calling for hazmat teams and medical personnel. But Shaw just stood there, hands cuffed behind his back, looking supremely satisfied. "Six hours, Mr. Cross. I wonder what you'll choose to forget first.”

“Ma'am, I’m very sorry to hear that. Can you tell me when you last saw her?” I struggled to regain my composure, but my voice quavered as I recounted the last time I had seen her smile—a warm breakfast shared just that morning. The operator’s next words struck me like a heavy blow: “Ma'am, we need to wait 48 hours before we can file a missing person’s report.” My heart dropped, and a wave of despair washed over me. “Forty-eight hours? Are you serious? My mom could be hurt, she could be anywhere!” I muttered a silent curse, feeling utterly powerless.

“That’s why I’m asking—how do I fix it? How do I meet my wolf okay?” I didn’t want to hear another speech. I didn’t care about prophecies or enemies or whatever this whole Lunaborn mess was. Someone in Oakland had messed with me—and I needed to know how to undo it. That was all I cared about right now. “What was given to you,” he said carefully, “will wear off soon. You've been here for over 48 hours now.” “Wait—what?!” I jumped to my feet, voice rising. “Did you just say forty-eight hours? I’ve been here for two days?!”

The anger still simmered, but it was controlled now. Forty-eight hours. Albert had forty-eight hours to decide whether he wanted to live.

he said quietly. But Aria didn't respond instantly. “You’re worried that I won't be,” she signed. Lucien said nothing to the contrary. “This worries me that this becomes unchecked.” Aria's eyes never blinked. “But we put an end to it before it gets there.” Lucien nodded slowly. “Forty-eight hours.” Aria nodded back. “Forty-eight hours.”

The road from the training camp to the mission site was very long. Every day, the bus stopped for an hour to let people go to the toilet and eat, so the bus ran continuously for twenty-three hours a day; Many people took turns driving. But it took us four days to get there. In the wholly sealed trunk, there was only a glimmer of light from a small wire mesh door, but I was not sitting near it, so I had no idea where the car had passed.

“Not Evelyn's food, plus I want to see my babies” I grin excitedly at the thought of all their happy little faces, it had been one thing after the other and all I wanted to do was sit and be with them for a while. “No sex for 24 hours, no shifting for 24 hours, iv calculated your healing rate and although it’s fast you need at least another 24 hours before you lift anything that’s too heavy, drive and for heavens sake no more fighting or dying, this is getting a little ridiculous” I roll my eyes
