As terrifying as he sounded, I couldn’t let him see the fear in me. I had to stand for myself and so I did. "There’s no light without darkness, right?" I said, forcing a small smile even though my heart was racing. "Warnings don’t change anything. You already trapped me here, that alone tells me things are going to be bad. And don’t worry, I’m always ready for the worst."
His jaw clenched. "Osline…" He whispered, his fingers brushing against my face before stopping under my chin. He tilted my head up gently, making me look at him. He leaned in, his face just inches from mine.
