So I sat at my desk and got back to work on the computer. It didn’t take too long after that when I finally found something on the dark web. “Dad.” I said. “What?” He asked, looking up. “Vampires are talking. I don’t think they’re involved in what is happening. But they know about what’s going on.” I explained. “What do they say?” He asked, walking over to my desk. “That it’s not an isolated incident. One says that the country will be more aware by the time they hit the second town.” I said.

She wouldn’t make it more than a few hours in there alone. The Forest of Darkness was a part of my domain, but it was near lawless. It was a paradise for every low-level vampire who hid from the light of our sun, licking their wounds and scraping together an existence. It was more a prison of those who had run during the war than anything and filled with creatures much worse than vampires. Night terrors, Deadly Vines, and all manner of dark creatures that thrived on vampire and human blood alike lived in there.

Danica's nervousness, which had been gradually fading, returned. She knew Joshua would never hurt her but she couldn't stop thinking negatively. Various bad scenarios are entering her mind. They were in a place she was unfamiliar with. They are just off the side of the road, but it appears that very few cars pass by. And the darkness makes it difficult to notice if a vehicle passes by. The house is deadly quiet. Steeling myself, I grip the hand and yank the door open. The hall is pitch black, creepy now that I’m finally taking time to study it. Thanks to my wolf side, I can see in the dark with no problem. But that doesn’t make it any less chilling. Shadows cling to every corner, darting across the bare, empty space. The floor creaks slightly as I step from my room, closing the door softly behind me. I pause, holding my breath, just waiting for Dominic to pop up and order me back to my room. But he doesn’t.
